Just bought it :D
WELL ITS ABOUT TIME.
Any difference guys? Core Design logo/FMV still there?
I need this 'cause my TR 1 and 2 disc stopped working after firmware update 2.5...something. For some reason. Mine is the collector's edition also, while I heard the normal ones worked.
So ya any diff?
They are still there Joshorty.
And the graphics are terrible. Its almost like playing TR1 on the comp without Voodoo or whatever its called.

Is that from playing on a HDTV upscaled/un-upscaled?
The least of best we can get from this is to play it on upscale with [screen] smoothing on when on a HD TV. It's definitely not going to look as great sadly :( Sigh. But it'll be fine on my PSP at least.

How do I do that?
How do I do that?
On the main Ps3 menu, go to the settings section. Go under Game Settings. Then you have a choice of putting the smoothing option on by default or not and upscaling the game at ON with either "Normal" or "Fullscreen" (which you don't really want).
It should look better by then.

Didnt really do anything :(
Is your PS3 hooked with an HDMI cable? I think puscaling only works through that though I'm not sure. And what HD res are you at now? Like you at 720p or 1080 p? Otherwise upscaling still doesn't beat a natural HD resolution but it'll look better than unupscaled.

Did you use the graphics smoother option? :)

IS the TRA download the higher res 360 version or the ps2 version? :)
Did you use the graphics smoother option? :)
Yup and it did nothing :(
I think I know where you're getting at now. If I'm wrong whoops but do you mean the PIXELS? Like on the graphics? The screen smoothing thing should work but sadly, it doesn't smooth the pixels in the game. What's even more sad is that the PS2 had that feature for PS1 games, where they can smooth the textures and have no pixels. I loved that feature. So sad to not see it on the NEXT GEN Ps3 system....

Is it on the 360? I wouldn't think so.
Well, considering TR1 wasn't released on the original Xbox, TRA and Legend are on the Xbox because those games were released on an Xbox console.

Same problem on my EURO PS3.
Before, TR1 worked, not now....
I hope, we'll have TR1 on the EURO PSN.
I might just be being dumb, but on my PSN store I cant find the PS1 option anywhere, it just like fanished :S I havent got a clue where it went after the update
when will it come to AUS?
P.S.
So TR1 is now officially released on 6 platforms? :D

look under PS3 games and go to classic should be in there but as it just got released look under latest, but remember just CA and USA so far, but you can buy off the America store if you have entropay.
I hope they release unfinished business(there has been PC games on the psn so it aint impossible at all). I won't be surprised if tomb raider classic come to xbox live.
Now we just need Tomb Raider 2 to be release, that's the only one that's not working on my PS3 and my PC copy is rubbish, the sound isn't right
Actually tbh I looked last night and TR1 isn't there.
TR1 Is definitely there. I bought it and was playing it, lol.

Excellent! Absolutely excellent! I'll be getting it for the PSP, as well.
I already have it for PC, Sega Saturn, and PS1. I will collect it for every game system out there.

Yay, But a bit expensive.
it's 10$, I paid 40 $ for my TR1 on PS because it's a collectors item now apparently.
^not that tomb raider 1 wouldn't be worth it, but I think you got scammed:p

So Sony Officially Supports PS1 Emulation on the PSP Now?
I wonder how they're gonna change the controls?
Oh wait, TR1 doesn't have sprint/crawl yet, so never mind. :p

yeah, but for TR3-5, they would probably slap the movement controls on the analog stick and put sprint and crawl on the d-pad. :) (my thoughts)

Downloaded it today. I love it. Brings back memories.

They obviously still have the source code, would it be really that difficult to port the PC version, or the PlayStation version, to XBox360? No.

To bring TR1 out on the 360, they would need to add achievements and that would cause uproar amongst all PS3 users here demanding trophies. And since no PSone classic has trophies, I doubt that would ever happen. Also, the 360 version being based on the PC game would mean a sharper, better looking game which would again, not go down too well with the PS3 crowd.
Of course, they could release an enhanced version on the PS3 aswell as the 360, but with the PS3 now having the original, I doubt they'd bother to release the same game twice.

They don't have to add anything to put it out on the 360, however, coding it could be cost more than they'd ever make. It is a very old PC version after all.

To me this is fantastic because Tomb Raider is one of the few PS1 games that would never work on the PS3 for me.
Hope they can add all the originals.

If it were to be released on the 360, it would be put up on the arcade and all arcade games must have achievements adding up to 200 points.
I can't really see TR1 working too well with the xbox controller. The D-pad is awful and TR is crap to play with an analog stick.

But the PC version is not any more HQ than the PSX version (the PC version actually being a PSX port, I believe). It's more the way the PSX rendered it at the time. The PC version even has less (aside from the Gold levels, which no console will ever get). because for one thing, it has no music. Personally, I think they should prt the PlayStation version. Achievements would actually require additional coding, and placement of new triggers within the game itself, in other words a re-compilation of the game's source files.
Wish this was on the EU PSN.
Curse developers for never submitting decent stuff to the EU/EUS PSN! Ugh, I'm getting sick and tired of it to be honest.
But enjoy having the game to play on your PSPs everyone! Wish my disk version worked on my PS3 or I'd play that, bah.

then we need a US credit card or US PSN card ;)
You can purchase US PSN Cards at HD Movie Source and they email you the code within an hour, with no P&P cost!
I've done it several times as I live in the UK and am sick of waiting for good games to appear on the Store over here.
so, are the graphics better on the PSP? no new stuff?
It's just a port of the PS1 game, just like most of the other PSOne Classics.

My cousin emulated Tr3 on his psp while borrowing my disc and the default controls for sprint is the analog "nub" right and crawl is left
Damnit!
still not on AUS!
Do you have Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid on the Australian Store?
They've been out in the US for MONTHS and we're still waiting... it's beyond a joke!

Well my original TR disk is too scratched to play anymore so this is good news for me. I would have been happier if the game wasn't 10 bucks, but seeing as how it's the original and it is one of those popular revolutionary games of its time, it doesn't surprise me.

i picked this up last week (along with TR2) and found it extremely difficult to control on my PSP. the D-pad takes some effort to get lara to veer right or left at full gallop. however, on the PS3, it's fantastic.
Does it support Full HD?
no, it appears as a square screen with black boxes on the left and right. looks ok on my HDTV all things considered. really not too bad. on PSP, it's a bit weird tho. it has the black boxes left and right, then the FMVs are letterboxed top and bottom, so they ultimately appear as a little rectangle in the very middle of the screen.

You can change the screen size on your PSP. Just press the "menu" button during gameplay, and go down to settings or something, I can't remember it exactly. I had the same problem with Crash 3 when I downloaded that, but there are 4 different screen sizes you can toggle between :)

There's an option for widescreen in the PS3 settings somewhere that might fix that.

Believe it or not, all those bars you're seeing are there to support the actual PlayStation one resolution/aspect ratio. We wouldn't notice back in the day because we'd play on our 4:3 TVs. And most of the 4:3 TVs back then would "zoom in" a little on the picture, cutting out a slight portion of the picture all around. In this case, the black bars you're seeing around the game you're playing in are the cut out portions, which are black/nothing for video games, since no one would have noticed it at the time anyway. They wanted gamers to be able to see the whole picture of the game so they fit it just right for the screen.
Lara looks a bit skinnier tall in this 'cause of that lol while some games are developed and made for that actual resolution. Funny this only happens when you play PSN download games. When playing your disk version, it doesn't do that.
Hm, just doesn't look like this is going to be released on the Australian PSN. Such a pity :(
