Its that time of the year (in the UK at least) when the exam results are revealed! I'm getting my A Level results tomorrow (more like today since its 3 am here :p ) and I literally can't sleep with nervousness and (a little) bit of excitement! I think I did ok. . . but you can never be sure.

Anyone else here getting their exam results soon? Are you nervous?

Thanks, I'm always doubtful but I guess I get what I get and I can always resit. I know thats not the best mind set but it kinda puts me at ease a little.

Guess they release the UK results around the same time they release the Irish ones. I did well in my Leaving Cert exams but didn't make it into my college course so I'm going to do a PLC course hopefully, and that should help me in next year. :)

I am actually going to vomit. I am SOOOOOOO nervous!

I have SOOOO failed Maths and English. Think Drama went okay and I am praying that Film Studies went okay.

I'm feeling like you, I've got about an hour left before I have to go and get them. I'm feeling pretty unconfident with almost every subject *shivers* :( But I tried my best in revision and prep, its just when i was in the exam I just couldn't remember anything!

I fell asleep in my maths exam. Revised all night for English then was SOOO tired in exam. Passed out 15 minutes before final performance in Drama. Film Studies and General Studies were normal.

Mine were crap,
C for English lang/lit (A level)
B for Commununications (AS)
E for History (AS)
D for German (AS)

So now I know about my exam results, my friends here and offline can stop hearing me going on about because I know now. I've already retaken a whole year on the same subjects as I did last year so now I'm going to try and get myself into an art diploma - totally different and I know my chances are far better without all the exams and doing something I do for a hobby anyway. At least I know what I'm doing now.

Atleast you got a B in your communications, which is supposed to be incredibly hard.

Hey, B is brilliant :D C is also great and D is also brilliant for A levels. Its not like in GCSE when D isn't so good, for A Level, D is an achievement, and an E is a pass also.

Brilliant news! & Well done to everyone else also, just going through these exams is admirable enough, regardless of whether you pass or not.

I'll spill mine:

Sociology: C
English: D (at the moment, I still have 2 more modules to do on this one so this isn't my final grade)
Art: D (to say last year i got unclassified, this is a big step up i think.)

Communications and Cultural studies is actually not even considered by many unis. Given that I've retaken a whole year and I was very reliant on German and History coming out good, I've got no chance of getting into a decent uni for a Japanese/history degree so I'm moving on and trying something different. I know what I'm doing, I know what I want and I know I deserve better than what I've got so I'm set on what I'm doing - I've had a whole year of educational limbo to think about it.

Well done everybody - making TRF and the British proud! :D

As for those who didn't quite get their grades, I will say one thing...
Don't give up.

Though only on my first year at AS, my journey has been a very rough and bumpy one. We all went through so much, academically and emotionally. When I first took my exams in January I flopped entirely - getting E's and D's for my mock exams and not getting much better in the real thing, I thought it was lucky that it was just a grade in itself. :/

But instead of giving up, I decided to turn things around and continue doing what I had to do. I resat one of my exams and just hoped for the best in the next set of exams.

And now these are my grades:

Biology - A
Chemistry - A
Maths - A
Media - A

And it's not that I come from a Private or even a Grammar school, nor do I consider myself as "smart". I come from a state school with average A-level performances. So no matter how much you struggle, stay strong! And if you don't already, find a motive. You're still young, and there's so much you can do. Have faith in yourself guys! And congrats to everybody else who got their grades. :)

Congrats Chocolate, that's inspirational. :tmb:

I've had my exam results posted this morning and after a good look at the results, I can see that there are particular modules that brought down quite severely what would have been pretty good grades so I've decided to continue with the courses I'm on. The only one I may have to drop is History as its an E for both modules but it was closer to a D than an F so there's still some hope there if I can have a look at the papers and see if there's any obvious places I've mucked up on. I feel like I've been on an emotional rollercoaster since yesterday but I think I've sorted this out in my head and I've figured out the best way forward. :)

I'm doing a diploma in business in college next year. It's equivalent to 3 A-levels Obviously I don't know my results yet but I'm fairly certain I've achieved what I need. I'm worried though that not all universities take people who studied diplomas.

According to the people at the college it's really good. Though I'd like to check it out myself in a year also. My college course is 2 years, so I'll be in that Uni sometime later then... hopefully.

Ah! How did you know that? :)
At first it was just an option if I got the desired grades, otherwise my main option was just for something else like Biomedicine or Chemistry. But these grades have made me happy enough to reconsider the dream I've always had as a kiddo. :D

Well done to everyone on their GCSEs! You seem to have done better than last year, I believe. xD

For those taking A-levels next year, I'll give you one advice: Take them seriously!

The gap between GCSE levels and A levels is a big leap. I guess different schools will vary on their teaching styles and all, but for me the first year of taking A levels was demanding both academically and emotionally. You begin to realize how challenging A levels really are when you take your first ever mock exams - and get grades like E's and U's!

Don't be disheartened if that happens, but don't use it as an excuse to slack of either. You really need to push yourself to get the grades you want in A-levels, and last minute revision is an absolute no-no. You will need to spend a lot of time revising, but believe me, once you get your desired results you will know that every second is worth it.

Oh, and one last thing - it sounds obvious, but don't pick subjects you're not sure of! I've had a bunch of friends who take a subject because it sounds 'cool' or they have nothing else to do, then around Term 3 they either struggle with the subject or simply get bored of it. If they don't drop out by then, they usually don't take the exam seriously and don't even get a grade at the end. Research your subjects carefully, find out what modules are inside them and be ABSOLUTELY positive you will commit to those subjects for your next two years.

Best of luck to those enrolling for next year, and to everybody else who is heading off to university. :)
