I saw this advertised in the new PC Gamer so I thought I'd check it out and share it with you guys.

DISCOVER THE GAMES THAT CREATED A LEGEND!

Before the movies, the comic books, the animated TV series and the rollercoasters, there were the games that started it all.

Tomb Raider took the world by storm when first launched and Lara Croft became an overnight sensation. Discover why in this collection of Lara’s first four adventures. From the Great Wall of China to the rooftops of London, from the icy wastes of the Antarctic to the sweltering Indian jungle, the action never lets up for a moment. Join Lara on the journey of a lifetime, if you can keep up with her!

Tomb Raider
Tomb Raider II
Tomb Raider III
Tomb Raider IV - The Last Revelation

The set is available to buy from mastertronic.com (http://www.mastertronic.com/productMastertronic.asp?pid=820&productLabelID=2#) and there is also a competition where you can win it (http://www.mastertronic.com/competition.asp?box) along with a few other compilations.

The question is about Tomb Raider so anyone here pretty much has it in the bag.

Check it out.

I have one important question, can someone confirm when you buy, if this have proper installer? or itīs only include patchs for to fix the incompatibility with XP and Vista?

I mean, if itīs comming with glidos and all that, or it have new installer?

Besides, if itīs like some sold out versions, it could lost the environment and soundtrack music in the background.

Can someone confirm all this? If itīs proper version, then itīs really worth it (even if itīs not TR5 and AOD, donīt know why they excluded them)

It's ok for me,adding TRC and TRAOD would be too much, those are the best game of the series,so it's a good choise.I'd like to know what Sermongar asked,it's very important, because I wouldn't like to buy something that is worst that what we already have.

Nice find :tmb:

I've answered the question (even though I own all of the games on PlayStation ;) - but it couldn't hurt to try)

I just saw this in the shop today. :p Even though I have multiple copies of some of these I'm tempted to buy it - that logo and packaging are absolutely marvellous. :D It's lovely to see the original logo instead of that ugly metal thing they've used since the first movie came out. Whoever made this boxset clearly care about TR a lot. :)

I wonder if they'll release Chronicles, Angel of Darkness, Legend and Underworld in a second boxset, as "The Worst Raids"? ;)

That's very nice! Great buy for those who want to try out all the classics without searching them all out.

Since I began my quest some 2 years ago to find an unopened, original Tomb Raider in the trapezoidal box I have since found and purchased 6 of them. Don't know what I am going to do with them all, but I could not have passed up the opportunity to buy them!

Someone that I know, he said itīs a light improvement of graphics, and not problems for to install in Xp or Vista. I canīt confirm at all, but I just buy, and wait for to get (through ebay, so it will take maybe around 1 week).

oooh I never saw this pack :O
I do have another one, with all CORE's games :p

So they have created a version of Tomb Raider 1 which works in native Windows, not MSDOS? If so, I'll buy this. Can someone confirm?

I entered :)

I would really like this to add to my collection :)

They don't sell things like this in Australia. We do have the Sold Out games though, but not many.

The Competition rules are that Uk Residents can only enter the competition.

Yes... competition, but not for to buy, you can find it there for to order in the page, but in Game it should be too, and ebay.

Perhaps Eidos think sales of the 6 pack of Core games might have been negatively effected by TR5 and AOD, so they try the 4 best and forget the rest.

TR1-4 are the best selling of the entire series, making them the 'greatest raids' in a way. So yeah, makes sense to choose these four. I'm also thinking that all four games are included on 1 DVD, and including anything more would probably take up too much space.

I can guarantee that the first 6 games fit in just 1 DVD. The first 6 games came in 7 CDs which were not completelly full and, of course, consisted mostly on uncompressed data (TR1-5 almost played from the CDROM).

Anyway, the DVD only release implies something:
1.- TR and TR2 don't use CD Audio for background music and effects, as in the originals. Most problems to run those games in modern hardware are related to CDA issues.
2.- TR must be ran tru' some kind of MSDOS emulator (a licensed dosbox, maybe), or virtual MSDOS machine and a glide server emulator (licensed vgvoodoo or glidos, maybe), or maybe they ported it to windows (best option, but not likely to happen).

I'm pretty, pretty interested on this. Please, if someone buys this compilation, I'd like to know if TR1 is the original emulated or maybe a new version which runs natively on Windows.

Brought the complication today, and it appears that TR1 is just the original emulated as it also comes with dosbox.

And as for the installer, it seems to be the Sold Out version.

Seems like a good idea... Hope they include the patches and fixes.

Damn, that's what I was afraid of. Thanks for confirming.

I just got, and itīs not so bad, and not sold out version at all.

TR1 come with Dos box, but if ingame, you press F1, it improve the graphics of TR1. Besides, it come this time with special installer, so you can choose the place you wish for TR1, and it comes in the start menu with a configuration window, so you can choose resolution or other graphic details.
Itīs not comming the environment sounds, but.... it must be somehow to active them, because browsing in the installed files, it appear one tr1audio.bin and tr1audio.cue, if you mount these images, it appear the environment and dialogue sounds from TR1, so itīs not sold out, just I still donīt know how to apply them.

TR2 is perfect, no problems showing the cinematics, and yes, itīs environment sounds, so itīs not sold out.

TR 3 and TR4, as usual, normal, no issues.

I recomend this pack, and besides, the box is so pretty :p you shouldnīt skip this compilation if youīre fan collector.

It saves so much time for to make work TR1 this way, just very simply with the special installer (not as other installer we already seen).

Oooooh I been waiting for something like this for a while! The box looks nice and 'true' to the old Tomb Raider games. I like it alot. I think I might buy :tmb:

Yes would love to see some high quality pics of all 4 games. So does TR1 come with the Glidos graphics enhancer? And how easy is it to run on Vista?

@OP: his is just like the Tomb Raider Collection from Eidos with tr1-trAOD in (cos i've got it).

@ Sam the man:Easy as ****! I've just completed it using Glidos and the updated textures:

So you bought this then? Or is that using the Tomb Raider Collection from Eidos?

I bought Glidos yeah (costs Ģ7) and tr1 runs a dream with it cos you can restore all the music from the psx version and have new, mega high res textures too. Worth the money!

So this PC version of TR 1 and 2 run in bin and cue? I assume the CDA data still exists in there but by emulation? Kinda like emulating the PS1 game I guess unless I said something wrong here. I'd love to own PC copies of the Tomb Raider games.

I just gotta ask - are there aspect ratio options? I suppose not :(

I WOULD buy this IF they sell it here :( Aw it's only for the UK. I really miss seeing big boxsets of Tomb Raider PC games. Not only do they smell good (please try not to find me creepy guys :D ) but it looks amaaazing. This is why I regret not buying TR3 on PC when I saw it in Wal-mart 3 years ago for $8.

Here are the links to the scans I've uploaded as per someone's request. Hope these are alright quality - if anyone wants to put them on the thread itself they can do - I don't know how.

http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/7968/thegreatestraidscover.jpg - The Cover

The CD - http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/1407/thegreatestraidscd.jpg

Sadly, there is no physical instruction manual. A shame really, considering there could have been a small retrospective piece for each game.

I've tried the original and II out on the compilation - I'm having difficulty with the original, as it seems to struggle running the game in certain window sizes and resolutions. I'm sure a fiddle will sort it out though. I've also had trouble with the sound in in-game cutscenes in the same game. I've no regrets about purchasing though.

Thanks for posting these, Tomb Reader. :tmb:

I'm so asking for this for Christmas. It would appear that all four games are on one disc, though. Is this the case?

Which games are you asking about? With a "Tomb Radier Collection" compilation I bought recently almost all the old games got warped on my widescreen monitor until I changed my video card settings
