It used to be that itunes and MP3s were amazing because you could just buy that one song that you really wanted instead of having to buy the whole album.

HA! not so much anymore. I wanted Sheryl Crow's "Tomorrow Never Dies" and both on itunes and Amazon.com you have to buy the entire album ($12) to get that one song.

At least in the german iTunes store, you can get it for 0.69 from the album "Sheryl Crow - Hits and Rarities". That being said, the full James Bond collection is an album that is actually worth getting if you don't have the other songs from that yet.

If they're gonna make it that difficult, just go download it illegally, then see how their sales fair. If I don't find what I want in itunes, for a reasonable price, then I go looking elsewhere, sure the same applies to millions. It's their loss if they wanna play it that way.

I second that notion :tmb:
As for the iTunes thing, well, I have no opinion, apart from iTunes is rubbish. But I'm sure you don't want to hear that.

Can't believe they charge 12$ for a bunch of digital files. Do they have that many production costs??

Right on. Although it's not worse than charging $18 for a bunch of digital files burned onto a 5 disc in a 5 case with a 5 booklet.

Yeah, but that just shows that digital stores aren't the solution. Also, because of this piracy thing I noticed most stores around here are selling CDs cheaper and cheaper, while digital stores are "on the rise" and probably can get away with overpricing music.

When I can find the song I want (IE, it wasn't released only in one other country or simply it's not available in the store at all) I like to pay for my music. When I do it's usually only one or two songs, I have yet to buy a full album digitally. I get the physical copy instead since they cost the same, if not sometimes less.

If I could, I'd go with Microsoft's Zune Pass though. Unlimited song downloads for $15 US dollars a month and you get to keep 10 of them forever. I kind of like it.

Agree. People are over-using it way too much.

Well, youre not really paying for the physical item when you buy a CD. Youre paying for the Hard work that the Artist put into the thing. Its like saying they should only charge 1 for games because thats how much the box costs.

The artist only gets a percentage of the price we pay for a CD. A very small one I assume.
