Such a tragic story. :(

A couple jumped to their deaths from Beachy Head in an "act too shocking to contemplate" after their paralysed son died, an inquest has heard. Neil and Kazumi Puttick, aged 34 and 44 and from Wiltshire, were found dead at the notorious suicide spot near Eastbourne in East Sussex, on 1 June.

Their five-year-old son Samuel, who had been confined to a wheelchair since a car crash in 2005, had died on 29 May. The coroner recorded verdicts of suicide on the deaths of the couple. The cause of death given for both Mr and Mrs Puttick, who lived at Wishing Well Farm in Brokerswood, Westbury, was multiple injuries.

In a statement their friend Sally Moore said: "After his death, it would seem that his adoring parents took their lives in an act too shocking to contemplate."

Very unfortunate.

They couldn't handle their grief. Their son wouldn't have wanted them to do this :(

Very unfortunate.

They couldn't handle their grief. Their son wouldn't have wanted them to do this :(I agree. I understand that they must have been grief stricken by the death of their son but why kill yourself? These people had families too. I know if I suddenly died I wouldn't want my parents offing themselves because of grief. Then again, I don't think my parents are that stupid as they know that they both have various other loved ones alive that care about them.

Its sad to think that someone could be so destroyed by something that they would contemplate this. But why did they think that this was the answer? They know how painful death can be, so why did they choose to put even more people through that ordeal by killing themselves?

If everyone handled death that badly, there would be an endless string of suicides.

During the very short time period after the boy's death they must have felt such raw emotion that eventually overcame their point of living. Whether on a whim or not. That's how I see it anyway, although I'm not saying I agree.

People have taken their own lives for much less.

What?

If you lose a spouse, you're called a widow or a widower. If you're a child and you lose your parents, then you're an orphan. But what's the word to describe a parent who loses a child? I guess that's just too f***ing awful to have a name.

Its tragic. I cant begin to fathom how painful losing a child must be. But I cant help but feel that if they had not Taken their own lives, they would look back and say how happy they were that they didnt go through with it.

Yes, I agree. But, emotion can be blinding.

Its a very sad thing to of happend. :(
Although, suicide to me, its more hurtfull and selfish. That young boy had no choice. His parents dead. I understand it would of been a difficult time, i just think, they also have loved ones around them. Why cause more grief for the family?
