Waterstone's, which opened its flagship store two hours' early to cope with the expected crowds, said it had seen "phenomenal" sales. The book shot straight to the top of the best-seller list at Amazon.co.uk, while WHSmith, Tesco and Asda reported huge demand.

The book, which features Harvard symbologsit Robert Langdon as the hero, became the fastest-selling title at Waterstone's since the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in 2007. Simon Burke, buying manager for fiction, said: "The Lost Symbol is vintage Dan Brown and readers can't wait to get their hands on what is set to be the thriller of the decade."

Anyone's getting a copy? I'll get mine today at the bookstore. :D

I heard they're going so far as to post security guards in book warehouses to prevent theft of the new book. It's been a long time coming, so I hope it's good. With the theme of the freemasons and all, I'm expecting a slightly more mature version of the first National Treasure film. I've heard that Langdon will be dodging special ops teams and assassins...he's dodged assassins in the first too books, but a special ops team would be fun. Looking forward to a film adaptation too!

this book hopefully wont contain falsifying info about Christianity like his other ones

I kind of hope it does for the sake of a tremendous story. I love stories that are not bound by audience's reactions and explore new and controversial themes. I'll be getting this tomorrow at Borders then.

I got the book and read a few chapters now. I picked the cover that has a key on it because the red stamp cover seems so "in your face" and obnoxious but that's just me. :p

The Epilogue is kinda slow, but when Langdon shows up, my heart leapt with joy. :jmp:
I won't spoil anything (yet :ton:). This is going to be a good read.

I'm currently reading it, only about 100 pages in - enjoying it so far!
Already had theories of who was on who's side and why by page 15, I'm going to be so chuffed if I've guessed right based on knowledge of name-histories and association alone.

Oh course, how can you not? :D

I am currently reading Deception Point and I have just finished reading Digital Fortress (absolutely amazing book). I've seen both the Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons but I have yet to read them (I do own them). I will probably read them before I read The Lost Symbol, can't wait.
