View Full Version : Things you loved as a kid...and still do

Solice

As adults, we are expected to give up 'kid's stuff'. But not all of it, really? :cln:

What sorts of foods, stuff, and activities you loved as a kid and still do now?

Me?
When I was a kid, it was a special day when my parents took the family car to be washed. They would buy me a soda, then I walked slowly down the line, watching with amazement every step the car went through to get cleaned. I loved all the brushed whirring around, all the noise and soup splashing about. My favorite of course; when you pay for a premium wash, like for extra wax, you get a special show with blinking red lights and a big sign saying 'Hot Wax!':jmp:

So as an adult, I still get a kick out of watching my car being washed. I still buy a soda, and I always get the ‘Hot Wax!’.:p

Basically all the cartoons actually, Scooby-Doo (original) Tom and Jerry, Pink Panther, all those old school cartoons.

Redwall book series, Buffy tv series

That is pretty much it.

The childhood stuff that I still enjoy now is all TV-related.

I still watch Blue Peter and Newsround (both shows are aimed at kids) :tmb:
Plus, there's a bunch of movies I loved when I was young that I still love.

Street Sharks!!!

I remember that, it was on TV not too long ago :tmb: (not that I'd watch it regularly or anything :pi:)
What a madcap idea for superheroes. They must've cost the taxpayer millions with the way they'd ruin the street every time they turned up :vlol:

Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? - preferably the pre-1974 stuff only. Elementary objectivist philosophy for kids. :D

Also, I'd kill or die for a box of Quisp, but I'm not sure if they make it any more.

Cranking up the music to insanely loud levels. Playing doctor certainly qualifies also if the right person is involved.

Ah, I love threads like this! Definitely LEGO-with the right pieces, the possibilities are endless! My attention has turned more to action figures lately though. As a kid, I loved musicals like Phantom of the Opera and My Fair Lady (though I used to be really frightened of the opening notes of the Phantom overture), and still do. I also liked Star Wars a lot since I was a kid, and a little more recently Batman. Then there's also everyone's favourite probiotics drink Yakult, which I still drink regularly. Ah, good times.

Tomb Raider and Fantasia. In fact, I think I love both of them more now. Tomb Raider because I don't totally suck at it, and Fantasia because I can appreciate it for more than just the pretty fairies and centaurs.

Also, heavy metal.

Harry Potter
The Pokemon gameboy games are great for long trips :p
Star Wars and Indianna Jones :D

Thats about all I can think of right now.

Drawing. I've always been artistic and I've been drawing for years. I remember drawing this princess and her bad ass unicorn when I was about six. Of course, my art has improved a hell of a lot. :p

Coloured pencils are infinitely better (although water soluble crayons can produce great effects) but aside from colouring, there's just something so nostalgic about crayons. I can never pick one up without fondly remembering all my colouring books and crayons as a child - inside the lines be damned! :p
