Who knows but it seems to fit. Perhaps because he is a pet (Amanda's), has claws, is a bad boy and is not in any way cute.

Because we love him lots and loveable animals are usually fluffy

But really I think it's 'cause lots of people sometimes name their dogs or cats Fluffy, and the Unknown Entity really reminded me or a dog/cat in the cutscene in Kazakhstan when it came through the wall and began jumping around :D
It's just a joke, I guess :)

Robin hood's fring "little john" was supposed to be a huge man.

My frind mackenize is very short for her age so we call her "big mac"".

Its more fun to call things the opposite of what they are...

I think the giant three-headed dog in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone is the inspiration for this name. For those who don't know, that monstrous dog is also called "Fluffy" by his owner, Hagrid. Basically a monstrous creature, who isn't in the slightest bit cute or fluffy, being called "Fluffy" - irony indeed. ;)

Of course it is fluffy, Fluffy is just a dog.. ten times bigger than the average dog... and with three heads. :p

^So you can pet one head, while the other two try to kill you. ;)

I did a bit of searching, and this (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?p=1051907&highlight=fluffy#post1051907) seems to be the earliest mention of anyone calling the Amanda's pet monster "Fluffy". However, Pipolinne refers to it as it's already a well-known name for the monster, so it's not clear how and when it originated.

Fluffy is Fluffy, just ask everyone here. :pi:

I always wondered why Fluffikins was aptly named so. :)

Exacly because he isn't fluffy. People probably think it's funny so they call him funny names. :ton::ton::)i WHOULD ;);)

its called humor :D

it's a just a light heated way of making fun of the monster being referred to as Amanda's pet

BUT Amanda did say she taught him to play fetch

That's what I always assumed about where the name came from :)

I like the name Fluffy for the Entity because it just shows us that it's NOT friendly, and DEFFINETLY NOT cute.

Maybe he was just waiting for someone who could help him, someone he could "touch" without them dying. Or maybe he was just guarding the queen from Tomb Raiders and Amanda found a better use for him, he never killed anyone (that we know of) after Amanda claimed the stone.

If fluffy was protecting the queen while she was alive, perhaps as her "shaman" what happened to him when she needed him? Was he like Merlin removed so he could not protect his chosen one. Or did the queen just run out of juice at the wrong time like Amanda, and someone (possibly her daughter) killed her.
