View Full Version : Just fiinally fully finished Tomb Raider
For the first time? Yeah i know but before this week, the last time I was able to play the first Tomb Raider was 1996. I was 5 years old. Sometime during that year or the next, my dad lost the game. I'd only ever completed the Peru levels. The first game I ever completed was Tomb Raider II.
Anyway I thoroughly enjoyed this game! I played it through start to finish (i didn't bother with all the secrets though :p)
I loved Anniversary (the first time I got an idea of what the original Tomb Raider was like) but I must say this was my favourite out of the 2.
Edit: THIS GAME IS MASSIVE! I didn't realise it was so big!
Here is my finish screen. Is 20 hours 40 minutes bad for a first-timer? :vlol:

Congrats man! Did you play it on PC? I don't remember the PS version giving total time... but it's been a while since I finished it on PS1. What was your favorite/least favorite level?
I managed to play it on PC thanks to gidierre's installer :)
My favourite level would be Atlantis. I just loved ascending up the pyramid while figuring out what to do, and of course, the doppelganger :mis:
Excellent game :D

Obelisk of Khamoon. I'm probably the only person in the world who has that as their favorite, but I just always had fond memories of it. My least favorite is Natla's mines. Have you played all of the games? I've only completed TR1, TRA and TR2.

I have every single game yes :) Unfortunately one of them doesn't work - Chronicles. But to be honest I never really liked chronicles anyway.
I've completed TR1 (obviously :p), TR2, TR3, Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld. I could never motivate myself to complete TR4. TR5 I didn't like much. TRAOD is the worst Tomb Raider game ever made. I hate it

Better keep that out of the AOD forum, you'd get lynched
I seem to recall you were playing AOD, I guess you gave up?
I'm in the process of playing TR3 now, I just got to the 3rd level. I'm taking my time, so it'll probably take 2~3 weeks to get it finished. Between work, working out, being married, reading... I have to find time :D
I plan to move all the way up to TR5, and I'll probably get AOD just to give it a chance. Once I've finished TR3-TR5 I'll move onto Legend, and then Underworld. Hopefully by then we'll have news of TRO.
How did you like TR2 & TR3? I liked TR2, it would have been even better if not for the endless stream of goons, but the levels were great. I'm really liking India so far in TR3.
Cheers!!

I gave up yes. Towards the end I put all tomb raider games on hold until I got Windows 7. Then I decided to play through every single one of them in order, hopefully hearing of TRO. Basically the same plan you have :p When I get to AOD, i'll give it yet another go but will most likely doom it back to its case and move onto Legend.
I love TR2. Its my favourite game of the entire series. TR3 has always been 2nd favourite, but TR1 has now pushed in front of that :) I could never bring myself to finish TR4, so i'd say the first 3 Tomb Raider games are the best, and always will be.
Agree with that completely ^
The first three games are really the best of the bunch, before Core started to run out of ideas. For my money, you can't beat the atmosphere and invention of the original game. Even without all the extra features the later games added, it still has the power to impress more than a decade on.
I'm glad you guys are enjoying playing through the early TRs - I'd also strongly advise playing the Gold add-on levels if you've enjoyed the main games. The TR I + II Gold levels always used to be free downloads from the TR Chronicles site, and hopefully that's still the case. The Lost Artifact is a bit trickier to hunt down - you'll need an actual game disc as it was only ever released as a standalone set of levels. eBay usually has a few floating around though, and the levels are brilliant fun to play :)

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll certainly give TR1 Gold a try :tmb:
Ill then move onto TR2, then the TR2 Gold, and etc through each game.

Spam.
Edit: I was puzzled by my own post, until I recalled some spammy posts that have apparently been removed. No loss.
I completed every single game. I only liked the Classics TR1-TR6 and one of the newer games TRA. TR Legend is the worst utter crappy game yet  and TR Underworld is Almost as Bad as Legend they're both utter crap games and Origins will also probably be like that also.
Curse you Legend, Underworld, and Origins.

Origins doesn't even exist yet.
I dislike Core Design and especially Angel of Darkness. I don't go posting my anger :cen:
Congratulations on completing the game :tmb:

You do realise if Core never existed TR wouldn't exist, right? :p
Congrats on completing though! :D

Of course I do. Doesn't mean I prefer them to Crystal Dynamics.

I know Origins don't exist yet but i know it'll be short and crappy. And it just won't be the same good TR no more. :(

good job!
@ Phys unfortunately nope. in TR1 there are no final stats. you just have to remember all stats from all levels and sum them up. developers included final statistics in tr2, they seemed to forget it in tr1.

Well its my 2nd favourite TR1 level after Palace Midas so i can completely understand your affection for it.
Well try beating TR1 without no medi packs.
