Some of the categories are a bit of a joke really: how can there not be any chance to vote for Uncharted 2 cast members in the Mo cap performance category, but you can vote for Megan Fox for the Transformers 2 game?!?

And Killzone 2 not getting a nod for game of the year. Oh well, I voted, mostly for Uncharted 2.

Megan Fox cannot act, period. It's a joke that she is a nominee for Best Female Performance and neither Emily Rose or Claudia Black are.

I bet Spike just wants Megan Fox to show up at the VGA's so they can put her on TV.

Online play is garbage, the level of anti-aliasing is kind of a joke and it took 6 months more than it should have to come out lol. To be honest even BlazBlue KO'd Tekken this year and that game only has 12 characters.

Rocksteady totally deserved that award in my opinion. They proved that you can make a good licensed game if you are willing to put the time, effort and passion into the game.

I expect to see a lot of imitators in the next few years.

Yeah you must be in small minority, LoL. Which is to say I think there were definitely improvements in alot of players eyes when that patch came out, mainly when it came to taking a load off the host's upload ratio...but it's still a nightmare for many people to try and get a decent match going. I think the fact that the game is half price on a good few sites already is Scamco's way of fessing up to the fact that their netcode hasn't even improved that much since DR online.

To me fighting games suffer the most online, too many variables when it comes to lag - but at least Street Fighter IV masks alot of it well.

Just two general opinions on the matter:

- Greatly disappointed that Uncharted 2 won game of the Year Award. Was hoping that AC2 would win that one.

- Why the hell did Megan Fox win an award at all?! I would have personally chosen Kristen Bell over.

I think both games were equally qualified for Game of the Year. I was a little disappointed considering U2 was a basic shoe-in for GOTY since it's evidently the best game in the world . It wasn't that good. I was hoping more for AC2 (and even Modern Warfare 2; I thought the recent release would definitely affect the votes) but I'm happy for U2 either way.

I was stuck between AC2 and Uncharted2. I would ave been just as happy if either of them won, but then again, I'm happy to see a console exclusive win. We need more exclusive titles instead of so many multi plats, imo.

And yes, I'm pretty confused at how Megan Fox could win anything associated with acting. :vlol: She won because she's hot, because she really has no acting skills to speak of.

I love Jack Black, but what skills did he use in Brutal Legend? He just played himself in the game, Nolan North was up for the award too and as much as I love him he plays pretty much the same character in every game. Claudia Black was good, so I really have nothing to say about her . Arleen Sorkin had an amazing performance as Harley Quinn which believe it or not takes skill to do, it's not exactly your normal every day voice, much like Mark Hammil, the Joker is not easy to pull off and Mark Hammil did a brilliant job at making him both silly and extremely dark. Plus how can you judge his skills if you never even played the game? If I remember correctly you only played the demo.

Riiiiiight...

Four seasons of a highly acclaimed animated, cameos, animated movies and two video games, truly must have been a lucky shot for both Sorkin and Hamill.

Hamill's Joker and Sorkin's Harley are very much capable of being psychotic right down to the bone, in many cases in the animated series this has been shown, but they are counterparts of each other, partly psychotic but having the time of their lives meanwhile... not to mention they're clowns, they're not going to come out sounding like Morgan Freeman now, are they?

Mark Hamill has been named the definitive Joker by many loyal batfans, and Harley has been regarded as his perfect counterpart, the two play off each other so well, the chemistry is right there in the voice acting.

Jack Black, are you kidding me? He played himself in that game.

Mark Hamill easily pwns Jack Black as far as value to the product. He was a pleasure to listen to as I was playing Batman. Interesting phrasing, tone--every line rang true and added so much to that game. Hamill's presence elevates the game.

I like Jack Black; he's a very decent actor. Not a great actor, but to be fair he hasn't challenged himself much. He knows his niche, nothing wrong with that. He was an obvious choice for BL, and BL was an obvious choice for him.

I don't put much stock in awards like this, but I would have liked Hamill to get acknowledgment for his Joker.

I never said they were bad actors, I just simply stated that sounding like an obnoxious person really doesn't take much skill, that's all.

I'm sure both are quite skilled; unfortunately, AA doesn't showcase that enough for them to win a prize for it.

Perhaps you should have read my post more carefully and you may have understood the context. :)

No, it doesn't suggest that they've done a poor job, it simply means their job didn't require much skill to begin with. You're taking my statement out of proportion.

Just because something doesn't take a lot of skill doesn't mean the person is bad at it. Like I said before, I'm sure they are very talented, but playing such obnoxious and easy roles won't showcase their skill.

Playing football with little kids takes hardly any skill, but NFL players do it sometimes. Does that mean they are bad? No. But it does mean that they don't deserve a superbowl ring for it, because playing football with little kids doesn't really showcase their full potential of talent.

Seriously, I don't see what there is to not understand. My statement was completely misconstrued without reason.

Well that's my point entirely, you're oblivious to the history of these characters, you can't say they haven't been up to standards with their character portrayal.

Easy? Believe me honey, if The Joker was easy, I wouldn't be defending him.

Playing one of the most iconic Villains of all time is hardly in comparison to a professional playing with or to the level of a child/childs character. Although it's misconcieved that this series is aimed at children, it's far from the truth. Joker has maimed, crippled, killed countless men, women and children. All for his own pleasure. Hamill captures his sadism perfectly with a balance of insanity and wackiness, how the character is best recieved to his fanbase.

It's ironic in that those two roles are what people admire them for, and what has made them quite iconic with fans, and this I'm talking about the guy who played Luke Skywalker here. I'm not saying you're not entitled to your opinion, everyone is. But all I'm saying is that I find it quite unfair for such a statement to be made without any knowledge of the characters in depth, it's essentially a first impression hypothesis.

I think what Melonie's trying to say is that within the context of her experiences in videogame cinematics, she found the performances too ostentatious to be worthy of the award. Does she need to have read The Killing Joke or Dark Knight Returns and understand the character's nuances in order to judge whether or not she can accurately gauge how good the voiceover work in the game was? Nope. She has her own frame of reference and for you to claim it as ignorance simply because you've invested more time in the mythology than she has - well now you're just being a hostile nerd. It's not a personal attack on you or your taste so take a deep breath and calm down.

Well that's my point entirely, you're oblivious to the history of these characters, you can't say they haven't been up to standards with their character portrayal.

Never said they weren't up to standards with the characters portrayals, either. Sounds like you're arguing with yourself more so than me, because all of these statements you're claiming I've made are entirely your own. I never said any of those things. The biggest problem here is that you are not comprehending something I stated so simply, in which I've continuously reiterated over and over with no avail. I really don't know what else to say, but thankfully BtoFu explained it rather eloquently.

Wow, condescending much? He was just stating his opinion. Everyone is rushing over to defend Mel for stating hers, why the hell can't he express his?

People are allowed to disagree, like I will so respectfully do. I disagree with everything Mel has said so far. It does take skill to play the Joker or Harley, you have to play crazy & funny while changing your voice drastically to fit the character. What does Nolan North & Jack Black? They speak in their regular speaking voice, that IMO isn't as skillful as what Mark & Arleen have to do.

If he comprehended what I said, he wouldn't put words in my mouth and debate against those words that were never stated. Doesn't sound like he comprehended me whatsoever, because nothing he's mentioned had anything to do with what I've said. Hes arguing with the fact that the actors performed well, as if I have suggested otherwise, which clearly never was the case.

There really was nothing to argue or debate in the first place. It's of my opinion that flamboyant and obnoxious roles are easy to pull off, no matter how much talent, or lack thereof, a person has. Having that said, the easiness is not indicative of the performer's talent, but more so, the fact that it is not challenging enough of a role to win an award for. Simple. I'm not bashing anyone's skill level, and never was.

I feel like I've posted way too many reiterating post over something so simple that is continuously being misinterpreted.

It's perfectly fine to disagree with me; however, it's not ok to tell me I've said things that I haven't and act so aggressively hostile about it.

He disagreed, much like I did. People are allowed to do that, and it is up to you to debate if you want. You are posting on a forum after all, if you post an opinion it's almost gauranteed someone will disagree. And have you played B:AA? Because last I remembered you only played the demo. You can't really judge off that can you? He doesn't only play a flamboyent or obnoxious character, if you played the game you would know he plays a psychotic & demented character, and drastically changed his real life voice to fit the character. Tell me how that is easy compared to Jack Black just speaking in his every day voice and playing himself in a game? It is challenging enough to win an award, while Jack Black playing himself is Brutal Legend is not. No one said you were bashing his skill level, now who's putting words in people's mouths?

While miscontruing other's post. We are all going to just have to agree to disagree.

He said multiple times that I suggested the actors did a poor job, when I didn't. If that's not putting words in my mouth, I don't know what is.

I'm perfectly fine with people disagreeing, as I've said numerous times. I just don't like having words put in my mouth, which I'm reiterating yet again. You said that no one said I was bashing anyone's skill level, but perhaps you should go back and read a little bit, because it was stated quite bluntly:

What's not to understand? 'Very little acting skills' suggests that in their entire career of playing the characters, that they have done a poor job of it.

That's just one of a few examples.

Like I said before, I personally think that obnoxious characters are easy to pull off, and Joker is no exception. Having good acting skills isn't based on how much you can change your voice (though it's nice), but more so making the character come to life in a natural way. Obnoxious characters never seem realistic anyway, they're intended to be dramatically over acted, and that's really not a very difficult thing to do. Obviously you disagree with that, and that is perfectly fine, but don't hate me for having an opinion or suggest to me that I said things I didn't.

I can't help but feel like I'm talking to a child sometimes when I have to explain something so obvious over and over again. I'm not trying to be rude, but it gets frustrating after a while. There honestly was nothing to argue about, and I find it a complete joke that people have become so hostile over my opinion.

I've seen Mark Hamill's performances when Jo was just a baby, trust me, I've heard him plenty. He does a great job, but I personally don't find those roles to be award winning by any means.

Wow, way to reach a new level of condscending Mel.

I did go back and read thank you, and if you feel like you are talking to a child then move on and don't post again simple as. You are the one acting hostile over someone disagreeing.

What was it you said?

It's perfectly fine to disagree with me; however, it's not ok to tell me I've said things that I haven't and act so aggressively hostile about it.

What are you doing now? Saying you feel like you are talking to a child and then telling me to go back and read when I clearly did. Take you own advice Mel it will do you wonders.
I've seen Mark Hamill's performances since you two were babies
Mel, you are only 3 years older than me.

I just don't find it very credible for you to debate against something you haven't read, if you call that condescending, then so be it, but I just pointed out something you must have clearly overlooked. I don't see anything condescending about it. You seem to throw that word out every time you debate with someone, it's hard to believe whether someone truly is acting that way or not every time you say it.

You just found another excuse to bash me over something so trivial and ridiculous, yet again. I can't help but see a pattern. I never wanted to argue with anyone, but apparently I'm not allowed to disagree with people.

Try reiterating yourself a million times every time someone disagrees with you and I'm sure you will feel like you're debating with children as well. It's not fun.

The only time I've ever not seen him obnoxious and flamboyant was in Dark Knight. Other than that, he's always been portrayed ad zany and kooky, with AA being no exception. Not that I have a problem with it (though it did get on my nerves a little bit :p), but I don't think it's award worthy, that's all. :)

And no, the only time I feel like I'm talking to children is when they don't understand and I have to say the same thing over, and over, and over using as much lamens terms as possible.

I have had to reiterate myself over and over and I don't see anything annoying about it. If they don't get it, I move on instead of telling them to go back and read and telling them they are like talking to children. I am sick of you and your "I'm oh so sweet, and I do nothing wrong." Get the **** over yourself Mel. Seriously.

And no, I don't use condscending unless I actually think the person is acting that way. Which you do a lot, I am sick of trying to reason with you because obviously you're the better person. At least I'll admit when I am condscending and not try to cover it up.

I don't think I'm perfect, but I find it quite flattering that you get that impression. :p

One good life lesson we can all learn from is that before you choose sides between two opposing parties, listen, or read, everything both have to say. Regardless of who said it, or showing bias toward one or the other because you are friends with one or have a problem with the other. If you're not completely informed, it's best not to get involved between people in a debate just for the sake of defending someone you like, or using the excuse to scorn someone you dislike. Open mindedness is a beautiful thing. :D

I really have no problems with you, and I can't help but find it odd that you find any little excuse to dispute with me. I really don't know what I've done to you that could possibly have caused you to have so much disdain against me.

The world's a much better place if we all get along, and ideally, confrontation should be avoided at all costs. Of course it happens from time to time (like in this thread), but the fact that you continuously pick at me every possible chance you get almost makes me think you want it, because most of these little spats we have never had anything to do with you in the first place.

You call me condescending, which sometimes I've been guilty of, but it sounds to me like you've got a bit of a confrontational problem yourself, and I'd personally rather not have to confront that time and time again. I like it much better when we get along. :)

Mel, I would prefer if we got a long too, but you make it really hard to get along with you. I like talking to you when you are being kind, and I would like to see more of that Mel. I've told you over and over I like talking to you, but I hate how you go about things. But like I said, we should just move on and agree to disagree.:)

Anyways, who else thought the game show was a bit short? Plus the music performances sucked. I love the Bravery, but they were awful.:p

I didn't like how they cut some awards and were just like "Oh these people won" and then moved on. I wanted to see more of the awards presented. And as much as I love Megan Fox, Kristen Bell & Eliza Dushku deserved that award more.:pi:

The feeling is mutual, believe me.

If I were to feel the same way towards someone from Assassins Creed, Halo or even Lara Croft herself, a character you care for. But alas it seems that disagreeing with someone on here is seen as hostile, again it's popularity that overlaps opinions as far as it comes to defending a point against someone.

I love how you missed out that last part in my previous post.

You're the one who has resorted to name calling Melonie, and condescending terms, not me, think about that for a moment or three. I shan't resort to that low. There's a difference between intelligence and knowledge ;)

But yeah, I loved Dragon Age and think it deserved the RPG award, but I can't really judge DS because I haven't played it yet, maybe I might change my mind when I do.:p
