For those, who don't know what "Origami" is, "Origami" is Japanese for "Paper-Folding". I guess the name gives it away but Origami" is the art of paper-folding where a series of folds ,ranging from simple to intermediate to complex, are made to create something. Some models require more than one sheet of paper, some require only one. Some models require a square sheet of paper, some require an A4 sheet. In the "Origami" world, sellotape does not exist and scissors are only brought into the equation when turning an A4 sheet into a square sheet and also for details in the model.

So the main part of it is you, your hands and your paper(s) and maybe scissors on the side, :D. There are hundreds of Origami tutorials on YouTube and thousands of diagrams ranging from an Iris to a dragon. A bird to the Legendary Bahamut (Final Fantasy).

Japanese-created video games like Square's Final Fantasy, play a role in "Origami" with veterans to this art creating extremely detailed models of things like Chocobos, characters and of course Bahamut and Bahamut Zero.

For the last 6 years I have been studying the art of "origami" and have made lots of models, like birds, flowers, airplanes, boxes, dragons, pegasus' and interactive pieces. Origami is for all ages and is an art that dates back to the "Edo era" (1603-1867) and still carries on today.

Ahh, yes. I really admire Origami, though I can't make anything. Unfortunately I don't the time to study it at the time as well. But up until now I haven't seen such sophisticated figures as in the last pictures  I'm really amazed by the Eastern Dragon. I would have never known that this could be made, too.

The Eastern Dragon is categorized as "Extreme Origami".

I can only make some very simple cranes (not like the ones in the photo). I sometimes make them out of stupid flyers in class when I'm bored.

The dragons are amazing! :cln:

Those dragons are friggin' awesome! Incredible that they made those without cutting the paper or using glue!

I used to be able to make a crane bird, and a frog that could jump (well not by itself of course :p). Can't wait to make some again, I'll post pics here if I do (after watching some of those YouTube vids :pi:).

Bahamut was introduced into the origami world by Kamiya Satoshi who is one of the best origami crafters in the world. He has a book on how to make Final Fantasy characters and creatures as well as the ancient dragon, I think the book costs $100. The Eastern Dragon was introduced by Joseph Wu and has a diagram manual on how to make it.

They are similar to the American M4 Sherman tanks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M4_Sherman).
I used to make battles with paper tanks when I was child.

Guard those origami. Catrocoth is the ORIGAMI KILLER. Says so right under his avatar. :D

My friend and I used to go out for dinner. We'd be talking about our lives, current events, movies.... whatever. All the while his hands are busy making origami. The waitress was so impressed with his creation and made such a fuss, he made her a $20.00 dragon for a tip.

I'm impressed with the patience and talant to create something out of nothing. It takes great imagination.

Some of these are quite beautiful.

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g293/greatchi/PyramidPower.jpg

My favorite and very easy paper model to make is the paper pyramid, this is full of egyptian power :cln:

Just google...... great pyramid paper template

Once made with the edges sealed, with a very pointy point :D (and it must be made as a scale replica of the great pyramid, with identical angle of slope) you will find the power of the pyramid.

Align the pyramid NSEW and place it on the ground, and a person can place their hand over it and feel a tingling of power. it takes a minute or two to build up.

It can be used to keep razor blades sharp if you place them inside the pyramid, and there are other wierd uses as well.

The shape channels energy upwards and downwards, and thats why a pyramid is pyramid shaped.

Now this makes you wonder why the top 30 metres of the great pyramid has no sharp point anymore, otherwize who knows what power would come out the top, and within the pyramid itself :p

In fact they were going to place a structure on top of the great pyramid to complete the shape of the top during the 2000 millenium events, but changed their minds at the last moment, I wonder if they were worried that the pyramid power would have shown itself, Spooky !
