Hi Everyone,

Even stripped of Conspiracy Theory elements I find this report very worrying indeed! :(

What do you think?

MMMM i wonder if that could happen here, I could build the machines, write the software, and decide who wins.

They should put a cross in the box like we do much easier.

They should put a cross in the box like we do much easier. That's what we still do here too, Neil, & then they are manually counted. I know we're 1/10 the population size of the US, but if it works well, what real difference would it make if it took 10 times longer to get the results? At least then they wouldn't be going to the Supreme Court about chads...hanging or otherwise!

Hi Tazmine,

What's 'chads'?

Of course, in the US they could also employ more people to count the 0s and Xs.

In states that had punch card polling sites, you punched out the perforated spot relating to who you were voting for. the whole mess was if the punched bit {the chad} did not fully fall off, it was known as a hanging chad. then people had to decide (!) what the person "really" meant to do with their puncher device.

Hanging, punched, not-punched...??? One picture of a scrutineer holding a ballot card up to the light trying to see if it was punched or not was a riot...theatre of the absurd!

Thanks peeps,

I well remember the controversy, but did not understand the technology! (As usual.)

What's wrong with putting a cross, or whatever, in a box?

I guess it's just so low-tech that they figure it can't be any good...  :D
