He went under my mate's bed...and DESTROYED all the presents he was going to give me...

COMPLETELY DESTROYED THEM! There was about a total of 320$ of gifts for me, all gone to waste thanks to our new teething devil-puppy...:(

HE ALSO took down our little tree, tore holes in the sofa, and is grinding up the legs of the chairs ugh

Has anyone else ever had this happen to them with a new puppy?

Should have wrapped him up ;)

No but I would love a kitten :)

Well I feel sorry for you now :(

Seriously though, that's just terrible! Sorry to hear that! Maybe you should talk to a vet to learn what to do to control the puppy? I mean when he's growing up it's vital to stop that kind of behaviour or else he thinks it's ok!

Either you've got one really savage puppy, or all your presents were made of polystyrene anyway.

Hmm, I'd say see a vet :tmb:
They'll be able to diagnose this behaviour :)
I'm guessing it's probably because it's growing up, I'm not sure :o

Im so very sorry to hear that!

But your puppy isnt evil, all dogs destroy things at a young age, its completley natural and healthy. Unfortunatley this was a worst case scenario.

it's not a devil .... it's just ... a puppy...
and from my experience dogs love to destroy things ... especially the ones that they find "in their way" ... :(

Be more careful next time... puppies are bond to chew and destroy things.

Let ickle puppy get the chop! (neutered), that'll sort his devil tendencies out.:mis:

I'm sorry your presents got ruined. Perhaps next time keep anything that might get chewed out of reach if possible. He must have very strong teeth to get past all the packaging.

I dont think a vet is needed...he is barely 5 months old...he is just teething...

...and nobody deserves to get their balls chopped off...

tomblover
23-12-09, 21:00
Holy. Sorry to hear that. :( Might be better to put them in a cupboard or something next time, eh?

Getting their balls chopped off too early can break their hormonal balance as well... One of my kitties got his balls chopped too early, he still behaves like an itty bitty kitty in some ways...

I don't think he should be neutered until he's an adult. If you really wanna do that, anyway.

neutering is evil IMO!

And Just to add to my first post:

HE ALSO took down our little tree, tore holes in the sofa, and is grinding up the legs of the chairs ugh :(

What kind of Dog was it? That might explain a little bit about its behavior, some breeds are harder to train than others are.

Well... where were you when this puppy was destroying everything? Perhaps you need to give it more attention.

Yeah, you gotta keep a close eye on them especially when they're pups. :)

I don't believe that your presents are totally ruined. Get the pup a chew toy, the teething can be right painful so have some logic.

Ugh, my dog's the same way and he's already a year old. Well he's not neutered so this could be why :whi:

Welcome to the world of puppy ownership.

Word of advice, anything that can be eaten by it, will unless you keep it out of reach of the puppy. It might just be bored and looking for a way to vent its aggrivation. My two dogs used to rip off wallpaper if they had nothing to do. :o

It's not the dogs fault, it's doing what it's programmed to do as a canine.

Like others already said, it's just a puppy he has a lot to learn yet.

im sorry to hear that, maybe u could use some doggy excorcism?

dont hit the dog though :(

Shark_Blade
24-12-09, 00:09
Well, it's a puppy. Would you expect a few months old baby to know whats right or wrong. Discipline him or he'll think it's ok to behave liek that.

Don't hit him of course, a flick to the ear or nose might do the trick.

Maybe the puppy is having separation anxiety while you're gone to work or school? Does he have a backyard or a kennel? Some breeds don't adapt as well as others in small spaces like a flat, or they need lots of exercise.

Saying it's natural for a puppy to do this IMO is taking away the owner's responsability to properly educate his pet. It's when they're young that they can be disciplined. And no, I'm not talking about beating your dog up, not only is it cruel but it can make him worst. I'm simply saying that you should learn some tricks to have your dog learn that not everything is "acceptable".

Sometimes people don't know how to educate their dogs and when the dogs grow older as spoiled and violent, the owners end up abandoning them.

LOL I remember when i had a puppy, it'd run upstairs, find my mums shoes, (and only the expensive ones that cost 200 odd.) and then take them downstairs to my mum, wagging it's tail and looking upto you as if to say 'Look what I did!'
