If you remember 1985, the thought of 2010 was waaaaaaay in the distance future. So how did 85 you think of 2010? Me? I mean, 2010? It will be like in the Jetsons, right?

Excuse me while I pop a Duran Duran tape into my Walkman cassette player. Isn't it great? We can carry music with us now. And we can watch music videos...on cable, 50 channels! It's even easy now to meet people thanks to those new video dating services. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bomkgXeDkE)

The future is always overestimated in movies. Actually, "the future" doesn't officially start until 2015, but even then, if there's no hoverboards, it's still just the present. :)

To be honest with you, I find it funny to watch movies that show supposed future of hundreds of years away, yet the spaceships are filled with cathode tube displays! :p I mean, hello, LCD anyone? :p

I also remember reading a computer magazine article about some computer expo... they had DVD drives over there and quoted 'experts' commenting that DVD would become the standard by 2000. I think they didn't become a standard by 2004/05.

And I was born in 1987, so... don't ask me about 1985 :p

Ah the eighties..perhaps I should post a pic of me......Hair spiked up and enough bangles on to sink a battleship.

I never really thought about it at the time. Too busy dancing to The Smiths. I remember having a person cassette player and spending hours taping songs for my mix tapes. I still have all my old vinyl under the stairs too. I don't think I ever thought about getting THIS old!

I meant to add to my previous post: In the 80s I liked the Back to the Future version of the future:cln: I would've loved that sports almanac so I could've been a millionare by now. ;) Although if I remember right it only went up to 2000 not 2010; shame.

1985?

I spent the school year studying drama in Austin, TX, my summer traveling around the country teaching dance for Marching Auxiliaries.

AIDS was barely a recognized disease, cocaine hadn't turned into crack yet, and albums still meant something. I still had Max Rebo, my Dodge Challenger (may he RIP), my eternally loved fuzzy, Snootles (may he RIP), my very cool duplex on West Campus. I walked to class using my AUTO-REVERSE JVC cassette player to Billy Idol, the Talking Heads, Prince. Dancing at Hall's. It was AUSTIN. It was the Eighties.

Good times.

I have a few pics of myself from the disco era taken at a few clubs, but no one will ever see those though (or for that matter any image of me). But you looked damn good in that pic, I'd of chatted you up for sure. ;) I knew a few chicks that dressed similarly, although none had the head of hair that you are proudly displaying.
