View Full Version : What Adventurous Things Have You Done?

I have an adventurous soul. There's no doubt about that. I want to do crazy things in my life. However, I currently live in a town in the midwest where there's not much more to do than hang around Walmart. Yes, my life is that sad. However, I know that I want to do "crazy" things someday. The three adventurous things that I'm dying to do in my life are...

1) Go rock climbing in Thailand
2) Climb to the top of Mount Everest
3) Go swimming with sharks

What adventurous things have you done with your life? Where have you visited? Post pics. What do you want to do? Seriously. :mis:

The most adventurous thing I've done has been to stay in the mosh pit at a metal concert. I'm still surprised I didn't get even a minor injury because it was crazed.

I've visited some ruins at Chiapas (TRU's Mexico)

It was amazing :D
One of the best experiences I've ever had, the jungle behind the pyramids in the picture is accessible, in one of the pyramids there's a tomb which you can go into and check what's inside.

And a river goes near to there :)

I shall post some pictures later, I don't have them on my laptop :(

Currently I only have this one, http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs121.snc1/5208_100640996617986_100000162588304_13923_1458896 _n.jpg

----------------------

And also just a few days ago, we had a practice at Uni, and we had to visit this place.

A city buried by lava, this is all what stayed above it...

http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs098.snc3/16540_105392899476129_100000162588304_147008_78756 39_n.jpg

It was a looong way... but it was cool.

http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs098.snc3/16540_105393039476115_100000162588304_147049_59152 97_n.jpg

So long, that I had to ride a horse :p

http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs098.snc3/16540_105393036142782_100000162588304_147048_64467 53_n.jpg

And we reached the place...

You can go inside of that tower, but it's really creepy down there. It's cold and dark, you can't even see your own hand down there :yik:
It was amazing :jmp:

I am you! :wve: All people do around here is hang around Wal-mart! I HATE WALMART! I want to do so many adventurous things too, but I must unfortunately complete my education first.

The most adventurous thing that I have ever done was hike Stone Mountain in NC! IT WAS SO FUN! :jmp: I only live about 3 miles from it though:p....

I've been to Europe twice, visited the catacombs in Paris, the Louvre, climbed a mountain to some old castle ruins, saw Roman ruins, did a lot more stuff.
I went climbing off the beaten path in the Superstition Mountains in Arizona, looking for the Dutchman's gold (didn't find any).
I did a lot of climbing in Montana.
I found and am currently exploring/mapping a cave in Door County, Wisconsin:

http://i48.************/1h2dzn.jpg

b) Kite surfed the gulfs.

c) Travelled to numerious places (Oh VERY extreme Lol!)

d) Buggied across the desert.

Etc. etc. etc.

Future plans?

Jump out of a plane at 30,000 ft. Be one of few civilians who performs the oh so dreaded HALO jump ;).

5 things I like to do in my life

* Going to the North Pole
* Flying in the parachut with the highest point
* Feeding Wild Animals and being in the forest
* Go and discover a creepy empty building full of terrible things and weird sounds while I am holding a flash light and a gun and a melee weapon...
* Visiting the moon, and standing in a planet where I can see most of things in the unvierse like the 9 planets, the sun, black hole and stuff...

Walked 100 km in one night (without water and sleep). That was quite an achievement for me.

I went to the island of Carriacou in the Grenadines for a month to take part in an archaeological dig (as part of my degree) and while we were out there, there was a hurricane and a few days later four of us decided to go on a trek to the Colonial ruins on the other side of the island.
Trouble was we didn't have a very detailed map, a working compass and had to trek through miles of woodland! Predictably, we got lost!
We left at about lunch time and didn't get back till midnight and that was only because we stumbled across a shack where someone we knew lived!

Next day we got taken in a 4x4 to the site, and it was an absolutely amazing place! Don't have the photos unfortunately, otherwise would share them with you!

Occasionally I'll just drive off toward the mountains or anywhere without really knowing where I'm going. I don't know if that's really "adventurous" but I do have some wanderlust. :p

I trekked in the jungle in the north of Thailand (Chiang Rai) for three days a few years back. Slept in hill tribe villages, rode an elephant, the works! Not massively adventurous, but was damned cool!

Trekked around Borneo for a month, finishing with a climb of Mount Kinnabalu. Chased by elephants in Africa, and got surrounded by Lions.
Went to Vegas and threw up in one of the casino bins.

This is what I do for fun, in my own hometown.

Climbing around Mt. Keira (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showpost.php?p=3910522&postcount=16247)

Exploring nearby bush land (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showpost.php?p=3990944&postcount=17394)

I'd also like to climb Mt. Everest, explore Antarctica, trek through the alps, among many other things. :cln:

Where's Daniel, lol?

We've survived walking through a maze! And we've liked, balance walked on stones over water, if you call that adventurous. :p

Oh, and one other thing: I broke my back tightrope walking, even with ropes. So close to the finish! :o

When I was a kid,my parents didn't let me to do certain things like being outside after 18hrs or playing with other kids of my block. The thing is that I loved going to my uncle's house, because there with my cousins after midnight,we used to escaped across a window and we used to be by the streets until 4 or 5 am...that was very dangerous and so many things happened to my...even a man shot us because we were laughing in front of his house...so,I was(and I am)really and adventurer,I did so much things than you can't even imagine,seriously...
Of course,my parents never knew it :D

I went rock climbing with school and we did something called scragging (I wasn't sure if they just made it up :pi: The word sounds made up) where you just explore the cliffs and with out equipment... I had these rubbish shoes on and kept tripping which is pretty dangerous 'cause I was about 50ft high... :D
I'm pretty damn clumsy, I have to hand it to myself.

Not as much as I'd like to do. Just simple things like rock climbing either indoors or on a fake outdoor wall, paintballing, air ballooning, and shooting a shotgun, revolver, and a 9mm pistol.

I definitely plan on sky diving at the very least, at some point.

unintentionally -

* evaded been covered with shattered glass as the bus behind crashed into our bus's windscreen
* been in a bus crash
* saved my friend from being run over by a log truck
* escaped been decapitated by poles in a van

intentionally:

*cycled well over 40 miles in one day
* rock-climbing on a fake wall
* saved animals from dangerous situations

I have a sense for adventure but when it comes to doing it, I'd rather not x

If you two are really serious about this, let me know. I won't beat around the bush with this; It is a very expensive hobby to have and it does involves risk. Well, you are jumping out of a plane at almost 10 times the height of the tallest building on this planet ;). However, keep in mind that the accident rate with skydiving has been quite minimal.

If both of you do enough jumps, you get to join a professional jumpers group and then get to go to try even more daring stuff. I am hoping to make time this fall to go with my group (The Furious Angels) for the HALO jump (High Altitude Low Opening.) We jump from three times the height of the regular jump altitude (30,000 ft.)

Think Metal Gear Solid 3 Lol!
