Hi there everyone! :wve:

Just thought i'd find out about people driving tests! :p

Yuppers! Aced everything too. Piece of cake!

I passed the first time in both the theoretical and the practical test. That being said, I know quite a few of people who are actually quite smart and didn't pass their first time around.

My driving instructor says Im ready for my test, but Ive failed my theory test 3 times :( and I've had to send off for a new license so I can't even apply for another one until it comes.

I think it has more to do with... listening, staying calm, and concentrating on what needs to be executed than having to do with 'smarts'. I'm talking about the actual road test. ;)

@ cochrane

I really don't think it's got anything to do with how smart one is. I think the major problem with some people is that they are really nervous drivers. It's easy to make mistakes for some people, there's a lot of responsibility on the road.

I've passed mine, but I haven't exactly got a car or ever likely to get one soon either. I prefer bikes actually. :)

Hells yes I did :D!

Was a complete fluke (kinda) I had 6 minors but I booked it a week and a bit before the actual test because someone cancelled. I was like "**** it lets try this ****!"

da daaaaaaa!

I know, that's what I wanted to say. I know people who are really not the brightest bulb and passed the first time, and I know people who are more intelligent and failed two times (the road test I mean). So it really doesn't depend on anything other than being able to stay calm enough, for the most part.

Edit to add: By the way, what do you mean with "minors"? Is there a scoring system? My examiner complained about some stuff but then still gave me the card, but I never got any sort of score or grade.

So I did.

Then he was all "could you know please sit in the back of the vehicle"

Yes, all four exams without much criticism.

1. Theory (two mistakes out of 20 questions)
2. Driven (nervous as hell, but I proved my skills)
3. 6 months after to see your progress (compliments on engine breaking)
4. Ice race track (compliments on not making the car slide and avoiding obstacles)

Okay, theory is what our written test would be here in the states and driven is the actual road test, but what's this 6 months follow-up? And ice track? For a special liscence?

Seeing as he's in the Nederlands, maybe it gets icy?

The follow-up, he'll have to explain :p

Quality control so to speak. :p Pretty much everyone passes it. Just go driving around town with the instructor and show how you drive.

Ice track is needed in Finland due to the icy roads that we get in the winter.

Ah, I see. Well we get really icy here in the NE US so maybe that should be implemented here as well. The follow up is also a good idea for those over 60 IMO. I say that because of the possibility of deterioration in eyesight and motor skills with advanced age. I think it would be a wise decision if they ever do decide to go through with it.

I passed both my theoretical and the practical test first time with no mistakes (minors?)
But the roads were not as busy as nowadays. :D

Yes I passed first time with 1 minor fault, my sister did exactly the same thing a year later and strangely enough my dad did the same thing when he passed his test back in the early 90's after my sister was born.

All passed first time with exactly the same minor fault.. which is kind of creepy...

Trigger_happy
22-01-10, 21:59
Yeap, passed first time with just 4 minors. I know someone who failed 3 times, all for dangerous driving. being in their car scares me.

HappyShannon
22-01-10, 22:02
I didn't pass.
Infact, they kicked me out of the car and yelled "YOU HAVE TO BE 17 TO DRIVE."

Rude or what?

No but rly, my brother passed on his 2nd try, my mum on her first, dad on his first, my oldest brother on his first.

What's up with that minors counting anyway? Do you get some list at the end of it? Is there a maximum you're allowed to have?

Yeah, no more than 15 and no more than 3 in one area, at the end you get a progress report saying where you got the minors.

I've passed every driving test I've had to do in the first attempt. :)

Learner's Licence - Knowledge test, done on computer
Provisional 1 Licence - Driving test
Provisional 2 Licence - Hazard perception test, done on computer

I can go for my full licence in about a year. :)

I passed second time. The first try was fine except i apparently didn't check a slip road...the fact is was a massive open junction so you could see for miles that no-one was there and that it was my right of way didn't occur to the examiner.

What made me laugh was that i was told to then do "Pass Plus" (i assume it's a UK thing) as it was 60 and saves you money on your insurance as well as giving you motorway practice. It only would save me 40 and the day i passed i drove 200 miles all over the place with the motorway being no where near as difficult as people made it out to be. Forget that then!

There was a part where the instructor had me "pretend I was parking" and do everything as if I were really parking and leaving the car, and I forgot to apply the parking brake because I wasn't used to driving the car I was in and it was one of those parking brakes you apply with your foot, rather than the kind with the pull up lever which is what I'm used to.

23-01-10, 15:43
No. :ton: Nerves got the best of me, I guess. :o

Anyway, I'm surprised I didn't crash the car on the second time [which I passed :)] because that song "Move :cen:, Get Out Tha Way" came on literally right when I was entering the highway.
