This was a hoax last time, when Mars was said to be in the night sky about 5-6 months ago.

I hope it's not a hoax again. I'd love to see Mars.

It's happening NOW here!!!! O-M-G

It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life!!! There's a huuuuge ring surrounding the moon and it's breathtaking. It's called a "Moon Rainbow" and you can see Mars in between

Mars was clearly visible earlier, even to the naked eye.

The moon is currently 100% full and 49% through the full moon phase.

And looking awesome!

Sebastian de Rosa: When I was a kid growing up in Italy, you know what they call a moon that big?

Alexa 'Lex' Woods: Hm?

Sebastian de Rosa: La luna del cacciatore.

I'm not too happy about that :o

The moon is crystal clear here again tonight, still 100% full but now 52% through full age.

BIGGEST FULL MOON OF THE YEAR! :cln:

If you think tonight's Moon looks unusually big, you're right. It's the biggest full Moon of 2010. Astronomers call it a "perigee Moon," some 14% wider and 30% brighter than lesser full Moons of the year.

Mars is clearly visible as a bright star above the moon.

I read the article, and can someone explain to me why Mars is moving further away? I don't know much about planets. xD

Real Life Raider
30-01-10, 23:45
can someone explain to me why Mars is moving further away?

Its because of the relative position of the planets in their own particular orbit of the sun.

The planets, as they orbit the sun grow closer and further apart from each other.

I seen it. I'm in Northern Ireland the moon was low and looked the size of a beach ball from a distance. It was also a yellowish looking colour :)

Real Life Raider

The full moon is now complete. The moon age is 53% and is now waning gibbous at 1% towards new. :)
