I just wanted to recognize the contributions that John Falstaff and Neil have made to the forum since July. Individually they each make a unique and important addition to our community. Collectively they are a hoot!

So here's a tip 'o the hat, and maybe an elbow too, to John and Neil (in alpha order!)

This was a great idea. I know that Neil has helped me in Math once and I always enjoy their thoughtful insight. It's good to have some older members on the site - just makes it feel more like family http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/grouphug.gif . Cheers to both http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/love1.gif

Neil can speak for himself.

But I'm not that old! :( :(

Gonga seems to think we're some sort of Owl?

I want to be Eeyore, a donkey, that's a completely different thing.

:(

:( Ouch! Not to worry. Vintage 1958 here.

hoot Informal. One that is hilariously funny: "Emmett, that skirt is a hoot!"

Now John, don't make a *ahem* donkey of yourself!

And Neil, you might want to delete your birthday from your profile...before it's too late...I just did...

I want to be a donkey!

They're the only animals in the world without a hidden agenda (or any agenda at all, as far as I can make out)!

John really worid about the definiton for hoot from OED

1 an owl's cry
2 the sound made by a mototr horn or steam whistle
3 a shout expressing scorn or disapproval; an inarticaulte shout
4 collaq a laughter b a cause of this
5 (also two hoots ) sl. anything at all [I](don't cae a hoot; don't give a hoot; doesn't matter two hoots)

number 3 really worrries me!

John Falstaff

Flounder broiled with lemon and herbs, baked russets, fresh butternut squash and succotash! But not a drop for me - doctor's (wife's) orders.

John our threads turning into a food thread

Gonga what is succotash? I've seen the reipe but have no idea still of what it is or is eaten with.

You must have food to fight the nasty coldy gremy thingys

John Falstaff
18-10-03, 23:29
A cold can only be combated with hot lemon, honey and significant amounts of scottish or irish whisky!

Russets, scoobydoos and all the rest of it? Irrelevant!

Trust me - I'm not a doctor!

;)

A food thread...imagine that! :D

Neil, That would be an American dish for sure...it's delicious so don't you dare turn your nose up at it!

succotash (słk“e-tąsh“) noun
A stew consisting of kernels of corn, lima beans, and tomatoes. [Narragansett msķckquatash, boiled whole-kernel corn.]

Hot tea sounds good right now John. Right after I eat all my kid's cookies... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/mischievous.gif

Whoops!

I did forget the tea bit!

gonga

You inferred (not to be confused with infused) the tea :D

John Falstaff
19-10-03, 00:20
Yup!

But it does help to be exact - there are so many doctors out there to confuse the issue!

;)
