Do you think they'll use those animations from TRU (Motion Capture),
or they'll use animations from TRL/TRA?
Of course, they can always make new ones...

I really hope they revert back to the most realistic set of animations I have ever seen in a game: the ones from AoD.

The Underworld ones where utterly pathetic. They where way too fast and unnatural.

We get it. You love AOD and everything it beholds.

Would they use motion capture for an arcade game? I have no idea how the 'mechanics' work for this thype of game. Perhaps they'd stick to a more programmed style like Legend.

I want some really smooth and natural looking animations :) like the animations from AOD :)

They might just use the ones from Underworld.

I hope they will use the TRA ones. She moved a bit too fast in TRU imo. :o

the aniversary ones were so...fluid, not as fluid as underworld but these are very...polished:)

that one move where you perform a set of tumbles and lara proceedes to throw herself into the air at the end, she is so gracefull and sort of slow while doing it...you can just imagine her semi-limp arms and legs in real life:)

what I am most curious about are the actual moves, what capabilities will lara have? can she duck? because that would come in handy for the giant spikey spinning trap we have seen. :)

No I don't. But I think everyone can agree that AOD had the most realistic animations.

^as much as I like AOD's animations, I'd like them to create new animations. I'm sick of Underworld's.:)

Why not?

because realistic does not mean pretty or easy on the eyes...

as harsh and abrupt as the verticle ledge jump was in underworld, that is life, real, earth, gravity.

the underworld animations were motion captured and then had a little too many frames removed. Regardless they are the most realistic movements in the whole series.

sure AOD's maybe the most smooth animations.:)

To be quite honest, the animations for this will be just some quick frames shuffled together, but it'll still look good for an arcade game. I don't think CD was putting their focus of animations and I DOUBT that they will be spending money out the ass for mo-cap for this (probably have already done so for TR9). Graphics and animations are most likely the least of their worries for GOL. They're just looking for replayability and online co-op.

Also, from what info I've collected- a SEPARATE team has been working on this title. Keep that in mind.

I said AOD has the most realistic animations, which you said you don't agree, but now you do? It's almost a FACT that they're the most realistic, but it's OPINION whether you don't like them for whatever reason. I honestly don't believe Underworld's animations where motion captures - maybe the cutscenes where, but definitely not stuff like the ledge climb up (with and without a wall) or dive etc... no human being moves like that. Even when the animations are slowed down.

The Underworld animations were indeed motion captured, HOWEVER, the developers decided they looked "boring" so they changed them up a bit. I would have liked to see what they looked like before...

The PS2 TRU animations look significantly better. The PS2 version is kinda a Next Gen beta version (beta next gen she had a yellow hairband etc. and in PS2, the edited from the next gen stuff is still there, so it's likely the animations weren't edited for the PS2 version).

oh goodness gracious this is hard for me >_>

K so it is a fact due to facts that underwords animations are realistic, whether o not they are nice to look at. However I agree that AOD's animations are nice and smooth, however nice and smooth does not equal realistic.

and honeslty yes the animations were motioncaptured. There is so much damn logic behind all this, you just need to stop and think.:)

:vlol: I was so thinking that!

Anyway how were the AOD animations perfect? I didn't think so to be honest. TRU's WOULD have been, if they hadn't been sped up and made to be hyperactive :pi:

Oh I never noticed this (I have the Wii version;I assume the PS2 version is the same as the Wii Version) I'll have to check it out later!

Underworld's animations are most certainly NOT realistic. :vlol: And I know, smooth animations don't equate to realistic animations (look at the Legend set of animations), but AOD's DO look highly realistic. If you don't like them for whatever reason, fine, :) but they most certainly ARE very realistic and believable. I still don't believe the Underworld ones where motion captured because as I say, she moves like a drugged up hyena.:vlol: I was so thinking that!

Look at them and you'll see. They're smooth and realistic; as if a human actually would move like that. Tell me how they're NOT, please. :)

As Michael said, I think the Anniversary animations were the best, they were fluid, they weren't sped up, and the running animation was just amazing. If they were to use any animations I would say they should use the Anniversary ones. :)
Oh and Philip, you might want to change the comment about epileptics, that is quite rude to Heidi Moneymaker and people with epilepsy.

As much as I love Core and AOD, no the animations in AOD aren't even close to what I want the next "Lara Croft" game's animations to be. Simply because Core didn't even have enough to perfect them and they weren't at full potential.

I'd like a mix of old and new. :) I loved AoD's stance and swan dive poses, and TRL/TRA's acrobatic and walking movements were great too. I think if they mixed them up she's look realistic and awesome at the same time.

But, chances are, they'll be TRU's animations...:o

I don't see how the AOD animations could be improved, tbh. =/

They were fluid, but just slow reacting and spaz-ish at time, but I'm not cutting down on AOD, I simply loved the way she did run, walk, and jump though because it was classic. :tmb:

Mo-cap! :mis: Most of Underworld's animations were excellent - its just the transition between each that looks dodgy... well, I think so anyway. :o

well if they still have the unedited animations from underworld I'd like that :)
but if they don't I'd like anniversary's because IMO it is the 2nd most realistic after underworld and also the most fluid animations in the series :D

I've never been bothered by the animations of the Crystal games. If they recycle them, I'll live on. If they make new ones, kudos. :p
