View Full Version : Final Fantasy vs Tomb Raider
Is there a rivalry between FF and TR? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/violent.gif Do you like FF?
I never really got on with Final Fantasy. I started playing Final Fantasy VIII, but didn't get out the compound before hanging up my mouse and shelving the game.
FFVIII was boring. all the rest were perfect though. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Tomb Raider, no contest. Though I did like FFX
I tried FF for just two mins. Then I quit :D
I've never played FF...
I heard about it and thats all....
I dont even know what it is and how it looks like http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
OMG, i have played and completed all of the series since VII they are fantastic, number 10 for the PS2 was amazing and the graphics were like nothing i have ever seen, so bright and colourful.
And the story lines are also out this world and very interesting.
Just jaw dropping, in game and FMV, but most are in game cut scenes anyway.
Oh god thanks, i remember this scene above so much, its just fantastic and so emotional when see sends the spirits off into the farplane, well heaven really.
Oh, I'm gonna be hanged for this but.........I like........final fantasy better.
I'M SORRY!!! I'm just one of those role-players.
I LOVE FINAL FANTASY
I LOVE TOMB RAIDER
And yes I'm being serious. Totally no chance of me not enjoying this thread.

Final Fantasy is no competition to Tomb Raider, but really good games. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Apart from Final Fantasy X...
Sorry but TR is no where close to the quality and complexity of FF. I'm not a huge fan of FF, but these games affected the gaming world WAY more than TR ever did.
Besides... you people always talk about the more recent FFs. Play the Nintedo ones and you'll see.
Final Fantasy X is my favorite most of all! It's so emotional and exciting. The ending always gets to me. It's definately worth being in one's collection.

Final Fantasy X is an experience. FFX-2, on the other hand, leaves more to be desired.
Well, Tidus and Auron from Final Fantasy X was just so... So... Annoying! I had to breathe deeply just to stop myself throwing my controller at them. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/bash.gif
But FF X is good in terms of gameplay and graphics. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
But my favourite FF`s will always be VII and IX. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Sigh, those FF VII days... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/hug.gif
I was never a big fan of FF, but I do remember at one time having the original Final Fantasy 8-bit cartridge for the original Nintendo in extremely good condition, still played like it was new...I traded it in for $15.00...guess I should've waited http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/bash.gif prolly could've gotten more from a hardcore fan.
Well, personally, I wouldn't exactly compare FF to TR... it would be kinda like comparing EA Sport's Fifa series to TR, they're two different genres. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif One can enjoy both series for what they are, entertaining game experiences, (of course, that's all according to who you ask.) After all, in the gaming world, that's all that matters. ;) That's just my 5 cents, please, carry on http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif
True, an RPG is completelly different of an action adventure. The only RPG I like to play is Dungeon Siege. Never played a FF game, it looks too flooded with stuff, the sphere grid, all the abilities and all. Not that they are bad games, on the contrary, I even like watching my oldest sister play FFX and FFX-2, but they just don't seem like something I would like to carry from start to finish, because they look so loooong and full of all kinds of stuff. Blitz ball games and all... I preffer more action and less stuff to deal with.
I don't say FFs are better nor worse than TRs, I just personally preffer TR's genre in games. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

I really enjoyed playing, same as Killzone and Metal Gear Solid 3, and not to mention Prince of Persia 2, truly amazing games, huh.

I made a little wallpaper!
Its **** but anyway! (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v305/SpArKy18/timeless.jpg)
It's neat! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif That's Yuna in FFX-2, right?

http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/hug.gif </font>[/QUOTE]Oh, you want to hear about it? That's great! I love it when a woman is keen and interested in hearing all about one of my greatest hobbies.
Now then, I suppose it all started in around about February of 2000. At the time I was looking for a more mainstream RPG to compliment my meandering on low-budget titles such as Koudelka, and Shining Force. And what you have to remember is, it was a real period of cultural change in the way RPG's were made back in that period. For the cultivated RPGer, real time strategy was becoming just as much an essential as old school staples such as.....
Oh heck. Got a friend at the door. I'll edit this post and finish the story when they're gone, Elen.

I keep hearing people complain about the way the girls are dressed on FFX-2... I actually find the costumes great. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif People say they shouldn't show that much skin... They are game characters, games are fiction, should give us the opportunity to see something one wouldn't see in real life... I don't know what's the problem with the revealing costumes, I mean, they are candy to the eye and, in the end, it's all just pixels...
Yuna's my favorite female character from FFX. I love her Japanese celeb look, it's cute. And Tidus's Asian guy look, woo http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/love4.gif

Plus I like the fact that they're bodies aren't exaggerated.

I don't know why, but the guy that caught my attention the most on a FF game was the one in FFVIII, I don't know what's his name. Has some scar on the face and kinda looks like Leon Kennedy of RE4 in style. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
I really enjoyed Yuna's role in FFX and felt so close to her. I felt even more close when X-2 was released. The graphics really bring the characters to life. :D
Yuna is a nice character. But I found Rikku really funny. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif I tend to like care-free characters like that. Yuffie, Selphie and Rikku... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif And Lulu was really interesting. Her part should have been bigger!
Do... Not... Like... Tidus... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yuck.gif
The CG cutscenes where Yuna sings are amazing. FFX-2 is definitely something different from what you would find in other RPGs. It's like watching an interactive movie!
FFX-2 was great but...so many things went wriong, in my opinion.
Firstly, getting rid of summoning?! What the hell was going on there?!
Secondly, the opening? Pure cheese.
Thirdly, no offense to them but, they made the characters so slutty...-_-
Am I the only one who doesn't look at revealing clothes as slutty outfits? :(

Summoning wouldn't have made sense in FF X-2.
Thanks! :D I was starting to get worried. People say costumes on FFX-2 are slutty, people say Catwoman's new outfit is slutty, people say Shahdee's and Kaileena's costumes from POP-WW are slutty and I can't help myself from finding them great. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
