At least I think I am. I went into a games store to obviously buy a game. For myself. However the store clerk was a little rude and kinda sexist. He approached me and immediately asked if the game I was looking at was for my boyfriend or my brother. I was a little taken aback and informed him it was actually for me.

He gave me that raised eyebrow look, and ushered me away from the strategy/adventure section and towards the children's section. Selecting none other then 'Britney's Dance Beat' he smiled, looked me up and down, and reassured me that this game would be more suited to my 'tastes'

I am not kidding. This really just happened. I am so offended! I wanted to buy copies of Halo2 and Doom3 and other 'manly' games just to prove to the smart aleck he is wrong.

What a punk.

What a completely clueless jerk!!!!
What rock has he been living under during the past years to not have noticed that there are plenty of us women out there who plays just as much videogames (and the same ones) as any man do!!
I bet he'd be surprised if every female member from this board gathered at his store.... but since there are so many of us we wouldn't fit inside anyway!! ;)
And common....Britney Spears Dancebeat???? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/bash.gif
Who in their right mind would want to
play THAT!!??!!! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/c-1.gif
To conclude it all....... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/violent.gif

You should of told him what you though, heres what i would of said in order.

"Whats the eyebrow about, do you suffer from nervous twitch's, do i make you nervous?"

"What tastes do i have then, i would like to see your girlfriend, you do have one right, your not gay are you?"

"And does it f'ing look like i want to ponse abut like Britney in my front living room so all my neighbours and people walking by can see me"

http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif , and they are taimed mature comments, if it was a bad day, i would of offered him a dual on Pro Evolution Soccor 4 http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/c-2.gif

No, just ignore them, they are ignorant, the obvioulsy know nothing, when i was younger my mum and dad used to love playing on Tekken with me, it was nice, and they both loved to watch me play tomb raider, as they couldnt get used to the controls, you have either got it or you havent!

What a punk.I'm not saying you're a liar because I know there are some people who still think that way, but I don't believe a gaming store known for relatability in it's youthful customers would allow such a narrow minded jerk to work there.
Just as Doctors and nurces need a good "bedside manner", so does the game dealer.
What you should do is go straight to the source, that is that branch of it.
Next time you go there, get his name and work code number and report him.
If they do nothing for more than 8 weeks, go on the Web and report it to the main company.

I read some messageboard posts last year that fingers a Florida video chain (1 store in particuler) for it's bigoted attitude against Africa Americans.
The store dealer and friends were southern with a family history of slave trading.
Another store of the same chain had to upper class white women behind the counter with just a generally rude attitude.
Following up the posts, nothing much was done until last Fall/Winter, so it will be a slow process for you as well.

The solution is simple, give him Britney's Dancebeat, since that seems to be something he likes and go find someone else there to buy the game you want from.

Course my solution may or may not include making him eat...well nevermind.

Yeah I laughed it off. I actually said to him

"Oh wow, is this like the one where Britney like dances and stuff? Oh my gosh that is so cool. I so have been dying to play this!! Thankyou so much!" and rolled my eyes and walked out.

I think he was a little dumbfounded.

Oh and he does have a girlfriend, Sparky, because he threw in "my girlfriend likes this game."

Andromeda http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif - just buy the games you want and then tell him that Britney may be his gaming choice- but that you're a bit more 'sophisticated' for that. Or just complain to his manager that this guy offended you- start up a huge argument and make a great deal of never shopping in this particular store- act as if you're one of their best customers and make them feel as little as possible. That should do the trick- or at least put you in a better mood :D

:D Thanks guys. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

I told a friend about what happened, a fellow gamer, and he sent me this. It made me laugh, I thought I'd share it.

http://www.cad-comic.com/images/comics/20030225.jpg

The comic website is www.cad-comic.com (http://www.cad-comic.com) and it has some hilarous comic strips about the world of gaming. A few have explicit language, warning for the kiddies.
