The closest thing I can match is the Portuguese marmita, but that's something to carry food to work, so, no meaning there.

voncroy81

its yeast extract

Nicky
09-12-04, 17:47
Yeast extract?! And does it taste good?

voncroy81
09-12-04, 17:56
indeed it does, it goes well on toast or in sandwhiches.
ive got a jar in front of me:

"contains B vitamins. 100% vegetarian"
"Suggested servingsof 4g for adults and 2g for children"
"ingredientsyeast extract, salt, vegetable extract, niacin, thiamin, spice extracts, riboflavin, folic acid, celery extact, vvitamin B12"

and now you now

SMSL
09-12-04, 18:35
But from which vegetable, exactly?

I'm sorry, my English sometimes ashames me! :(

Neteru

Yeast is a type of fungus. It's what makes beer and bread possible.

Nicky, SMSL, Marmite is such a food stuff that the general belief is you either hate it or love it. Of course, it tastes very salty. If you spread it on your toast (for example) you spread it VERY thinly. It's a very dark brown colour and made from the yeast by product of beer production.

www.marmite.com (http://www.marmite.com)

I personally find marmite more salty that vegemite. And vegemite isn't as sticky and difficult to spread.

Oh! Hi Net. :D
I ate it when i was a child. Can't say i hate it, but i ate it. Yeah i liked it. But it tastes pretty strong. I should buy it again these days. Thanks for the tip, voncroy81. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif

I don't think I have ever seen it here. But the name was taken from the French marmite that has closelly the same meaning as the Portuguese marmita! Eheheh, I was right after all. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Well, not really, but hey. :D

To rebuke: "To criticize or reprove sharply; reprimand." (said also my dictionary).

Hey, stop staring those  right at me, I'm not on marmite. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Well, because I was already missunderstood once here today and I hate it when it happens. You know, like you think you're being funny and all, and, the next thing you know, the person had the comment as offensive, or harsh. :( I have a big mouth, I tent to type the first thing that crosses my head, and sometimes, only have the notion of how it sounds to me and don't notice it might sound different to others. And when all I was intending was to make people smile and cause someone to frown instead, it saddens me a lot. :(

But, hey, you knew I was kidding after all, so http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/pillow.gif

It's that he was talking about "we" with getting to animals and the first thing that crossed my mind was "Hey, take me off that group!". But truth is he took it as an attack and I feel sorry I made him feel that way, because I didn't intend it and therefor, wouldn't feel right not to ask for his appology, because I was and am sorry I made him feel that way. Because I really wasn't intending to hint he would do it, I was just intending to hint I wouldn't.

But, everything turned out fine in the end, so, hey! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/pillow.gif

(I love these smileys, I didn't have any of these to play with back on my active POP forum member days! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/jumper.gif )

Vegemite - if Australia came up with a signature scent it would be based on the smell of vegemite. You can put vegemite on toast, bread, crackers, celery (yum). It's brown/black in colour, it is as thick as toothpaste, it's a bit salty and very yummy. I also like bovril on my toast. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Yum! I looooove it. Toast with cheesespread and marmite, makes the taste less strong and nice and cheeeesy. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif :D
