With the recent XNALara update comes a new competition - a one in which you, the participant, creates a mod focused around the 'Casual Explorer' DLC outfit for Lara, and that only. Thus meaning the use of mesh-modding and use of anything other than the 'Casual Explorer' mod is invalid and not acceptable.
Rules (please take your time to read these thoroughly):
You're not allowed to edit the mesh, so that includes adding/removing physical parts. You are however allowed to edit ANY of the textures with that being changing a colour or a textures texture- this includes the bumpmaps and shine etc.
Use of anything other than the 'Casual Explorer' outfit is invalid and will not be accepted- please stick to the 'Casual Explorer' ONLY rule.
The entry has to include an image as such:

.. and one professional image, with a custom pose and design. This is so that we can have two voting 'polls' on both the mod and the professional image and that we can see your mod fully without having to download to inspect/vote. AND by request a 'face-shot'. :)
You can have three entries. This doesn't mean you have to enter three, however- this is so that the people who are 'modding-crazy' can get the most out of the competition /tomblover cough. :p
WE SAY NO TO NUDE RAIDER so any mod which shows 'to much skin' in my opinion will be invalid and not acceptable.
Everything on this competition has to be your own. Use of other peoples mods, with or without credits is not acceptable. Why enter a competition to show your modding capability but then use someone esles mod is beyond me. You are however allowed to use stock images- ensuring that you have edited them.
If you are caught plagiarizing any work you will be disqualified- no exceptations.
Feel free to post a download-link to your mod. However, if you abide by the rules you will see that you don't need to post a dowload-link since we can already see your mod from all four-corners.
I repeat- you cannot mesh-mod. This is a classic texture editing competition and use of any mesh modding will be invalid and you will be disqualified.
If you use someone esles pose make sure you credit it. You shouldn't need to credit anyone esle if you abided by the rules.

You can edit the textures and the bumpmaps in anyway you like. I'm guessing shine has something to do with the textures themselves, so yes, I believe thats fine. :D

But to increase shine you have to edit the .mesh file in notepad, and I think it's considered mesh-modding. But I'm okay with it though because it's not altering the shape of the mesh in any way..:p

Maybe you could change that rule (just remove the part 'and increasing shine'), because it's slightly confusing. :D
I like the rule that you are not allowed to use anyone's textures too. :)
(I have to change my mod now though. :vlol: I used Gugz's eye texture, it looked so good. :( :p)

Yes. Shine is acceptable. It's not physically adding or removing anything from the mesh, it's just changing a value- much like textures. So I'm fine with it. :)

No. I don't think so. Read the rules and you'll see that there isn't much- it's just explained in great detail so people don't misunderstand the rules. I have also made 'so many' rules to ensure people who are participating all have a fair chance of winning.
Also- it's a classic modding competition so I cannot stress enough that you're not allowed to mesh-mod.
If you, or others read the rules- you would find that it is very easy to abide by.. and it infact helps me and those voting to see the entries and vote properly without one participant having an advantage over the other. I hope I'm making sense- I'm quite tired.

every contest needs to have at least one doppelganger mod, so i made one! all textures and meshes are by crystal dynamics, with some changes made by myself, the photos are unedited, only cropping and sizing them! i added links to the mod itself and larger image files, because i couldnt upload them with high quality! :p

Making that picture doesn't take a lot of time. Just move shoulder 2 to about 35 and -35 on the other side on the Z axis. Then take pictures while you rotate the model (use the root hip bone and move the Y axis). :D

You can have a professional picture / composition. Who is to say that doesn't include various shots of Lara? It's your chance to showcase your mod how you want to. The four-angled shot is to save people downloading the mod for a 'fair' viewing.. I'm just caring for the participants. :(

It depends what the copyright is on those textures. If you don't know- then no, sorry. You can use textures from Tomb Raider games though, since you're all using Tomb Raider Underworld textures as a base of the mod. Everything esle has to be your own, though, sorry. :D

Lara found yet another ancient artifact and she's spending the night doing research about it, while some vans stopped by her mansion, full of armed thugs, ready to steal the artifact. When the alarm starts ringing, Lara jumps into her trusty gear and goes to protect the artifact. After a pretty big fight, some thugs managed to escape with it in one of the vans - but Lara isn't about to give up and goes on a wild ride. Just another day in the life of Lara Croft.

Can I use textures that I extracted from another game on my mod? (Of course I had to customize them a lot) Because I'm in the middle of making and I just realized it might be against the rules.
Like I stated somewhere esle in this thread- only if you are by law allowed to do so. Say it has copyright against people using those textures.. you won't be allowed to use them.. if you know you're allowed to extract these textures then yes, I have nothing wrong with that- if you don't know.. then no, sorry. You are allowed to use textures from other Tomb Raider outfits, however.. since you are all using Underworld as a base texture.
I hope that made sense.. I'm sort of half-asleep. :D
