Could they possibly release a packaged version? I understand it'd probably be too much effort for a disc based version, but even if it means just a box with tokens inside like what they did for BTA/LS on Xbox?
It's not really a big deal, but it'd be nice to have a new addition to the collection, it just feels weird otherwise.
Doesn't really bother me... but it's always nice to have a box... you know... the pleasure of opening it for the first time and all...:p

Maybe redeem codes will be included with TRIX but I really don't think we will see a boxed version for this game .
It's not gonna happen. :(

I definitely prefer a boxed version. But it won't happen, because their trying the new "digital download" way to release a game.
I prefer retail as well. Usually when games are download only, they're quite short and lack quality, although I strongly believe that GOL will be good.
I'd get it if it was boxed and in disc form because I'd know I'd be able to play it forever.
I'd like a retail version as well, just for the pleasure to add it to my collection. But I can't see them doing it just for a 6 hours long arcade game sadly, even with a big demand.
The way I see it, if LC&GOL encounters a big success they might release more new arcade games in the same genre so hopefully they'd made a retail version including for example 3 of them.
Would be great, but I think there won't be a packaged version... :)

Well it is basically an online game, so being a digital download would be the obvious choice to find the right target audience, those who can actually play it online. Plus it is cheaper to do an arcade game and cheaper to sell it as a digital download. You could not buy a latest release disc game for $15, and Tomb Raider fans at least would probably not buy something a bit different for full price.
a disc based version would be great indeed
I mean if I want to replay it in 10 years it might not be possible anymore otherwise... like with assassins creed 2 I only had problems with that damn game. When the server is gone I cant play anymore. My pc crashed now my license is gone. its only making problems when its net based

No, but a collection of these "episodes" would be absolutely fantastic. :tmb:

Like a box set with the box looking like the book from the trailer. :p Good idea.

Yeah maybe after they release a couple of these DLCs there will be enough content for a whole disk.

I'd prefere a packaged version because there can sometimes be complications with downloading content for me. The only reason it wouldn't be is because of it's short duration. I feel people who aren't avid TR fans would get this confused with a TR game and not a Lara Croft one :)

I actually prefer a packaged version too.
I just like to add an actual game (DVD)box to my collection of this game :)
unfortunately there are small chances of that happening. a packaged version would certinately sell better than a digital download, but considering it'll be a small game, the price would be small too. and with all the manufacturing costs, the gross of the game would be kind of low.
so it's better to release such kind of stuff as a digital download. better -- for them. not us.

I think this will be hugely successful. Hardcore gamers are seeing the trailer and going "WOW that actually looks fun" or "I've ignored TR for years, but this looks like a day 1 purchace". It could happen if people keep buying all the Lara Croft episodes. The Grand Theft Auto DLC got released on a disk as a collection so I don't see why the same couldn't happen for the "Lara Croft" series. CD already said they're planning on making more. IMHO it will probably happen.
^You're totally right, many fans would buy it, and new gamers too!
GTA IV's DLCs are smaller than the GOL I think, but still boxed too..

Yeah a boxed version could be good especially if you like collecting the disks lol
Not gonna happen, but I would love it.

I'm gonna request a poll for this right now. It'd be interesting to see how many people would like a boxed version, and maybe CD would notice it. :wve:
Good idea, i'll strongy vote for YES :)

I'd love a packaged version, but sadly I don't see it happenning. Releasing digitally is incredibly cheaper than making a full retail version, and nowadays most people has Internet.
I'm sure it's called a Digital Experience for a reason. Just sayin'.

But what difference does it make to the experience if a boxed version is released later? It's also good for those who can't download it from the online store.

I could see them doing a perhaps 'buy a code' thing. So they don't have to actually package the game- just package a code to unlock the game on your PSN/XBL/Steam account. That'd be cool! :D

Aren't you a Source dude? You can't play those games (HL2/ HL2 Deathmatch/ L4D/ L4D2 etc) without a valid internet connection and a Steam account. Those are retail packages- but they are essentially digital games.
I can still play Half Life 2 + Eps and Portal and Just Cause 2 Offline, but these dang Frequent Updates are Murdering my Gigs. :(

Yeah. I'm sorry you get free updates from a loving company who wants to make sure you have the best game experience. That must be heart-breaking.

I don't think there's much point at this moment in time since it's being marketed as a "Digital Experience", but If they decide to make more of these mini adventures, they could release a disc based compilation. Still it would be nice to put it on my shelf with the others.

I'd love it too. It would be brilliant in fact! Dunno why but I just prefer having a physical copy of games rather than just download! :)

Gamestop had a box for TRULA and TRUBTA? So I don't know why they can't do it for GOL?
It was an empty box containing the codes to download the games.

I don't have 24/7 Internet service either, that's why I said "most". It's not like 5-10 years ago, when almost nobody had access to cheap and reliable broadband Internet like nowadays.
Nowadays it is profitable releasing something digitally. Being able to distribute something in a much cheaper way allows smaller projects with a higher level of innovation/experimentation to be created.

The chances of me buying the game at the moment aren't particularly high as:
1) I'm having problems connecting my PS3 to the internet, hence I can't access PSN.
2) I'm very attached to physical copies of films and games and dislike this rising trend of purchasing things digitally.
If this was released on disc, I'd buy it in an instant.
I also like package versions, they are more authentic! :)

I think they should release a boxed/packaged version. Not everyone has xbox 360 or ps3 and STEAM is so damn unpredictable.

A packaged version would be nice. :) I usually buy only packaged games. But for this one I'll make an exception. :)
if BTA/LS got boxed releases with tokens inside, then I'm sure they'll do the same thing with GOL..it wouldnt hurt the digital experince.
I SO want a box version. I hate buying Microsoft Points over and over again. I don't like having to buy basically money and then go off and use the money I bought to buy games.
The updates should be optional...
Not for a game that runs online capabilities.
You can't play v1 with v2 so to speak. They all need to be the same- and as such, I think it is fantastic that VALVe update they game every so often- with new maps, and stuff to do too. It's beautiful.
A boxed version could work.
I would say that it should contain extra content already on the disc already. Maybe sold for half the price of a normal retail game. As of now, no. But a few months after GOL's release, it would be cool to make a boxed version with all the extra content on the disc for people unable to use the internet (Although the online co-op is the main thing which is driving this game. )
Heck, maybe even a collector's item and PS move support :whi:

^ That is reaching a little to far don't you think?
I wouldn't see a packaged version coming any time soon, it would be nice but as Daniel Neuberger and Karl Stewart stated, it's only a downloadable release.
