To quote BBC.

"Pakistan has blocked the popular video sharing website YouTube because of its "growing sacrilegious content."

So what do you think should Google moderate or continue to allow free speech? At the end of the day Pakistan would have to moderate the whole internet to censor out blasphemous material, end of the day, they don't need to watch it!

:tmb:

Exactly! One would think if they were all amazingly pure Muslims, they'd be capable of restraining themselves and not needing a higher body to police their activities for them... :ton:

Isn't that some kind of way of saying "Take that Americans"?

I doubt it; I assume its just a way for their government to try and ward off a move towards a free-thinking population, which may start questions established tradition.

I'm not sure if they banned it, but they were very up in arms over something to do with the "Draw a picture of Mohammed Day". I thoroughly enjoyed lawling over the news reports, with Pakistani's holding protest signs accusing all Facebook users as "Evil Lovers" and-other-such-hilarious-nonsense.

That's right if someone doesn't agree with you try your level best to suppress them, I have no respect for Pakistan what so ever they should be ashamed of themselves.

Well that doesn't surprise me, but seriously it reduces people's freedom. Then again I don't think Pakistan is a democratic country?

Erm, it's their government, not the country as a whole ;)

Well that's just dumb. Might as well ban Internet altogether. Sad.

I think pakistan blocked youtube and facebook because of the south park
200th episode and draw mohammed day.
