The Sorcerer's Apprentice is an upcoming 2010 fantasy adventure comedy film produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, directed by Jon Turteltaub, stars Nicolas Cage, and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures, who are behind the National Treasure franchise. It is a live-action re-imagining of the Mickey Mouse Sorcerer's Apprentice segment in Disney's Fantasia, which in turn is based on the late 1890s symphonic poem by Paul Dukas and 1797 Johann Wolfgang von Goethe ballad.

I'm going to be seeing this no doubt, I am kind of annoyed that they changed the characters' names. They should have kept the names Yen Sid & Mickey. :/

Other than that I look forward to this.

I liked the section of Fantasia and the piece by Dukas himself. I hope the music makes some sort of appearance in the film. It's also refreshing to see a sword and sorcery movie juxtaposed prominently against modern day, I read about a car chase. Will be interesting to see how the fantasy works with the action.

For those who have never seen the original piece by Disney:

I'm still really annoyed they changed the names. Nick Cage is another reason I am very skeptical. But seeing as this is Disney and it's based off one of my favorite Mickey animations I am going to be seeing it anyway. I really hope it doesn't disappoint.

Thought it was adapted from the Young Adult book at first. Wasn't that excited then. Now I find out it is based on something Mickey Mouse-y, and I have gained no further interest :D

Blahh! I love Fantasia, so I'm a little worried about this :( I don't really like Nicholas Cage all that much, so I'm hoping this is good.
