This has been a long awaited day for me. It is time for me to travel, yet again.

In less than 8 hours, I'll be departing for one of the most important trips I'll ever have in my lifetime. One that involves crossing two continents by rail, meeting people from here who I really love and care about, and it will also be my first completely independent overseas journey.

I'll be starting in China. First off, I have a 10 hour stopover in Singapore, which is enough time for a day tour, and then it's off to Beijing. My first train journey starts from here, and goes all the way to St. Petersburg in Russia, crossing the entire continent, travelling across Siberia.

I'll be spending 3 days in Beijing, in which I'll see the Great Wall, (A Tomb Raider place, yay!) then continue onwards to Ulaan-Baatar in Mongolia. I'll spend another few days here and in Terelj National Park. After that, I head to Irkutsk in Russia, spend a few days on the shores of Lake Baikal, then continue westbound to Europe. It's a 2 day train journey from Irkutsk to Moscow, which I'll be spending 3 days in, then I go to St. Petersburg for another 3 days.

That is the first leg of my journey. After that, I enter the European Union. From here onwards, I have a rough plan of what countries I'm going to visit, and who I'm going to meet. I'll be sure to attend the meetup in the UK as well. This is my current plan:

So I've got to be up at 4:30 this morning to catch my plane departing at 8am. I'll be flying on the A380, which should be exciting.

And of course, I'll be keeping you all updated with pictures, on here, facebook, and wherever else I keep in touch with everyone.

Thanks to everyone for making TRF a pleasant place to stay and meet new friends. I'll be so happy to meet them in the near future.

Love you all. :gki:

Sakislav Bombakislav.

and that you take a looooot of pictures :p

and before I end the post, I dedicate this Kamelot song for you. Well, it kinda suits the situation :D

Winter's close...and the mountain high
I'll start my journey now
On this planet we call Earth we belong
I want to know
Why did God make me feel
There is more to be answered
Maybe God cannot remedy
Our souls if he tried
I seek peace of mind at least
And to know I did my best
I will pray for those I have loved

I must take your farewell
Carried by destiny
Bound to obey

I must take your farewell
Trails of discovery
Lead me an ocean away

take care and hope we see you well!

OH, Saki, I'm so happy for you, I'm sure it's going to be amazing. Traveling is my passion and all the money I have I put in it.

I was planning a trip around Europe, but I moved it to next year because I'm starting college and I also haven't seen my family for a year since I've been in USA, so I want to see them and my friends. I will be traveling, but only to Montenegro, Croatia and Turkey this summer. I might drive to Prague with my parents for a day or two too. And probably Paris fro New Year's.

But next year, I can't wait. I'm doing this.

I did the whole Trans-Siberia thing last year but the other way around, starting in Moscow and ending in Beijing. Looking at your pics makes me kind of nostalgic. :o A pity you went to such a crowded part of the Great Wall though. We went to the Simatai section which was basically deserted and we even zip-lined over a massive gorge, TR2-style. :D

Beware of Ulaanbaatar, though. While the surrounding countryside is incredible (we went horse-riding with no safety equipment with a family of nomads), the capital is the worse city I've even visited. There is literally nothing to do there, except maybe visiting the natural history museum.

And Lake Baikal? Man, that's some beautiful scenery. We trekked 28km around the edge and my feet were dead by the end, but so worth it. You'll have a great time. :tmb:

Pleased to see you're having a great time and hope to see you at the UK meet up so we can hear all about it first hand!

Mongolia is the least most densely populated country in the world... so maybe thats why the capital is so boring IYO
