Vivendi Universal Games has announced that the highly anticipated Half-Life 2 has gone gold and will ship to stores on November 16, 2004 worldwide. The sequel to Half-Life which was released in 1998, Half-Life 2 continues the story of research scientist Gordon Freeman. As Freeman, players find themselves on an alien-infested Earth, its resources depleted and its population dwindling. Freeman must rescue the world from the evil that he helped unleash at the Black Mesa facility. Half-Life 2 is being powered by Valve's Source engine, which provides major enhancements to facial animations, physics, graphics and AI.

HL2 is goin to be better than Doom 3...not that that is saying much.
