Well since it seems Aya Brea is back, i have a feeling Eve may be too in the future installments. In case people don't know what Parasite Eve is, i found an interesting article for people to catch up in. Here is the article (http://www.gamepodunk.com/members/gamepodunk/blog/VIEW/00000011/00000125/Retro-Rewind---Parasite-Eve.html)quoted.

With news of “The 3rd Birthday” buzzing about the internet, it may be the perfect time to reminisce on the preceding title to the game, Parasite Eve. Parasite Eve, based on a book with the same title written by Hideaki Sena, was released in 1998 by Squaresoft, now called Square-Enix. The game has practically sprawled a life outside of the book to herald a sequel to the game, as well as bringing forth “The 3rd Birthday.” Though the scientific possibilities in the game may not be accurate or remotely possible, don’t be surprised if the gripping sci-fi drives you to learn more about the human cells.

As with most Squaresoft titles back then, Parasite Eve was a gem to behold and own, with amazing cinematics and mix of RPG elements with enough survival horror to get your adrenaline rush. The entire story unfolds in New York City over a six day span. Throughout the game, you play as Aya Brea, a NYPD officer, with extraordinary abilities, or rather, “Parasite Energy” from her evolving mitochondria. The story starts at Carnegie Hall with Aya attending an opera accompanied by an unnamed date. What seems to be a peaceful night, however, manifests into a gruesome nightmare of burning flesh and mutating monstrosities. At the heart of this panic is Melissa Pearce, the leading performer of the opera, whom you discover to hold mysterious powers and a deeper history with Aya than at first glance. With the help of Daniel Dollis, Aya’s partner and father-figure, Aya must stop the possible end of humanity and discover the truth behind her own mitochondrial evolution, even if the truth may compromise her own will to fight and live.

Success was probably hard to avoid, especially when acclaimed professionals have made their early marks on this game. Gamers have come to recognize Squaresoft’s quality and style of graphics, since much of the character designs were drawn by the famed Tetsuya Nomura. So, it’s no surprise to find Parasite Eve’s characters having Nomura’s signature styles well-rendered. In terms of graphics for the PlayStation One platform, Parasite Eve’s area maps and cinematic sequences were remarkable and realistic. On top of that, the soundtrack fits the game to near perfection, drawing you into excitement and fear, even if one didn’t want to feel such emotions. The soundtrack was composed by none other than Yoko Shimomura, who went on to compose the soundtrack of Kingdom Hearts series, Legend of Mana, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, and others games.

As simple as the gameplay may seem, Parasite Eve is a palatable fusion of RPG and Survival Horror. In light of both current and past games, there were no major deviations from the formula of other successful titles. The game progresses with the usual free exploration, ungrading weapons, battling mutated creatures, and gaining new abilities and items. Still, the game holds its own with various elements that would probably fail in other survival horror games, such as Resident Evil or Fatal Frame series. One such element is the experience-based leveling up process for Aya Brea. So yes, to achieve that state of zen in battles, grinding is involved, but every battle does come with its rewards. Not only do Aya’s stats increase with every level and new skills acquired, you are able to add to the number of items you can carry, increase the speed at which you can act in battle, and upgrade armors and weapons with the bonus points that are accumulated.

http://www.gamepodunk.com/g1/gamepodunk/appdata/hp/admin/Article_Images/Retro_Rewind_Images/Parasite_Eve_SS1.jpg

Another element is the actual battle that takes place when Aya encounters enemies. Signaled by a grayed out overtone that changes back to its normal hue, the player controls Aya’s actions in a confined space that allows for free motion. Within the confined space, there are hidden barrier that prevents you from moving out of the battle zone. Escaping from an unprepared fight, however, is possible by selecting the option to do so. When choosing the option to attack (usually by shooting with an equipped weapon), a dome appears in the range at which Aya can reach. From there, the player can select the enemy to shoot. The farther inside the enemy is within the dome-range, the higher the damage. Aiming is done automatically for you when selecting your target. Selecting a target out of range would simply be a miss fire and a waste of bullet. The battle is somewhat turned based with the familiar concept of Active Time Bar, which displays when the player and the enemy can act. This feature with the ability to move freely in the battle area makes it possible for the player to dodge certain attacks, especially one you can see coming. Likewise, the enemy may elude your bullets and special skills that take a little more than a few milliseconds to perform.

When we think about role-playing games, especially one slapped together by Square-Enix, we can’t help but think of vast mythical lands with magical creatures, but Parasite Eve is far from a fantasy. Being that the game setting is one that truly exists, exploring existing venues such as Manhattan, American Museum of Natural History, and the Chrysler Building, is like an added bonus to the adventure. You may never be able to boast that you’ve been to the actual locations, but the graphics were amazing enough to bring these places to you.

As both RPG and Survival Horror, Parasite Eve is a well-rounded game experience for all players, bringing together psychological and visual terrors that entangle the adventure. Now after ten years, with “The 3rd Birthday” tease, fans have started replaying the first adventure and discussing their own possible plot theories. If you’re new to the series, note that the physical game in new condition is a rarity, so it’s advisable to play it used when possible.

News:
A lot of new info is being released!
We've been waiting almost two years for official gameplay footage of The 3rd Birthday. That footage arrived today during Sony's E3 press conference.

But Square Enix went beyond just a trailer. It also opened up the game's development staff to interviews. Here's a bit of what director Hajime Tabata and art director Isamu Kamikokuryou had to say about the game when quizzed by Famitsu.com.

The interview started with the basics. The site asked Tabata if The 3rd Birthday is a sequel in the Parasite Eve series. Tabata's answer may be surprising. "It carries over some elements from the Parasite Eve and Parasite Eve 2 game settings, but it's not a sequel. We'd like you to think of it as a new title that features Aya Brea."

Tabata made note of some similarities to past Parasite Eve titles, though. Asked to describe the game content of The 3rd Birthday, he said "Parasite Eve is a game where you use guns, so this is game where you also use guns, and at the same time you can enjoy true action. It's not the type of shooting where you aim a targeting reticule at the enemy, but lock-on action where you lock on to the enemy with a lock-on button."

Action is a major element of the game, explained Tabata. This lead him to a discussion of the game's new "Overdive" system, which he said is intertwined throughout the entirety of game.

As detailed by Tabata, Overdive is an ability that lets you take over the consciousness of others. Using the skill, you can freely control other people. The basics of The 3rd Birthday's gameplay has you change your currently controlled character in realtime, intermixed with your combat actions.

Kamikokuryou fielded some questions about the game's world view and visual elements. The game is set in New York and has such visual elements as "expression of destruction" and "fantasy elements." Visually, one effect the art staff is using is increased contrast.

"We're aiming for the highest level of PSP graphics," he said.

Regarding Aya Brea, Famitsu noted that the character has a sexy image going all the way back to Parasite Eve, which showed her in a shower scene. The staff is paying a lot of attention to the character's sexy image, said Kamikokuryou. They hope to better convey her reality and charm thanks to the more advanced technology they have at their disposal.

Tabata had some bad news here, though: "At present, there's no shower scene in the scenario." Famitsu did plead with them to consider adding one.

The 3rd Birthday may be a portable game, but it looks like we can expect a console class experience from it. "We're not really keeping in mind that it's for the PSP," said Tabata. "The game setting is at the level where it could be played on a console. It's the feeling of we've somehow managed to fit that onto PSP."

Kamikokuryou noted that Final Fantasy XIII staff members became core members of The 3rd Birthday's development staff once the RPG's development ended. "The creation of resources is PS3 class," he said. "On this point, we feel we may be able to offer something that crosses a barrier."

Closing off, Tabata said, "We're making a game that won't be defeated by foreign games. Please be on the lookout for it." Kamikokuryou said, "We're putting our full efforts in the graphics as well. We're confident it's a game that will pierce your heart, so please look forward to it."

The 3rd Birthday Staff on Aya, Twisted, and Showers
Four key staff members detail the unique gameplay concepts of this Parasite Eve followup and even provide some hints at a console followup.
Posted Jun 25, 2010 at 22:38, By Anoop Gantayat

Yoshinori Kitase, Hajime Tabata, Motomu Toriyama and Iasmu Kamikokuryo are all featured in an interview at Famitsu.com. What are they talking about?

The 3rd Birthday, of course! These four serve respectively as the PSP title's producer, director, scenario writer and art director.

The interview posted at Famitsu.com is actually a complete version of an interview that was posted in this week's print Famitsu. That was itself a more complete version of an interview that Famitsu.com posted during E3, which I summarized here.

The long and the short is, there's some new info on the Parasite Eve followup at Famitsu.com, including an in-depth description of the Overdive system, details on the game's background story, and an explanation of why Aya's clothes tear apart. And what's this about some hints at a console followup?

Read on for a summary of the interview.

Concept and Switch to PSP

The concept of The 3rd Birthday, said Kitase, is to carry over the world view and taste of Parasite Eve, but create a completely original title featuring a greater emphasis on the Aya Brea character.

Square Enix originally announced the game as a cell phone title. According to Tabata, it was originally planned to be episodic, with each episode playing out like an overseas drama (this refers to stuff like 24, Lost and Heroes).

The reason it was changed to PSP, said Kitase, is because the quality of the gameplay and cut-in effects exceeded the framework of cell phones. Also, they wanted to push the game on a global scale.

The episodic nature of the story's construction is still in place, said Toriyama. They're currently doing voice recording, and the voice performances will apparently be like what you'd find in an overseas drama.

The Changing Main Visual

The change in platform resulted in a vastly different main visual. I thought this part of the interview was so neat that I wrote a separate story about it.

Action RPG

The 3rd Birthday has in the past been described as a TPS, or third person shooter. Asked if the game's genre is TPS, Tabata said it's an "action RPG." You use guns, but it's not something where you aim and fire at enemies. Instead, it's "lock-on action," where you use a lock-on button to lock on to enemies. To this, the game adds the the Overdive system and RPG growth elements.

Overdive

As previously detailed, Overdive is a skill Aya has that lets her consciousness take over the bodies of NPC soldiers who are spread out across Manhatten to fight the invading Twisted creatures. The skill is an integral part of both the storyline and gameplay.

Toriyama explained the story part. Aya is a former FBI agent and now a member of a federal organization called C.T.I, or Counter Twisted Investigation. She's the only person capable of using the Overdive skill, which is mankind's "trump card" in defeating the Twisted.

Aya is not particularly good in combat, but she doesn't actually enter combat. She remains in C.T.I headquarters and sends her consciousness out to the various battle fields via Overdive.

Tabata took up the gameplay part. Using Overdive, you can make Aya's consciousness jump instantly from one NPC soldier to another. You'll then be able to take control of the NPC.

You might have figured this out already from the screenshots, but the game changes the enemy's graphic into Aya. This, explained Tabata, is done in order to make the game easier to understand in terms of gameplay. Aya's body isn't actually there though -- just her consciousness.

For the most part, you can think of Aya's life as being one with the NPC into which she's dived. Tabata did note, however, that they're planning on adding a system where Aya's development will add some support to the life of the NPCs.

Due to the Overdive system, The 3rd Birthday has some peculiarities with how it handles death. Let's say an NPC is about to die. You can perform an Overdive, which puts the game into slow motion. As long as Aya is still conscious, she'll be able to jump over to another NPC, even if the NPC she's in has zero life. You can see this zero life Overdive happen in the E3 trailer.

There are multiple classes of NPC soldiers, but the standard type die off quickly. And violently too, it seems. When attacked by a Twisted, the NPCs experience a sharp pain and spurt out blood.

Although he questions the moral side, Tabata expects beginner players to make use of the zero life Overdives frequently -- that is, dive into a soldier and use it for direct attacks until it's about to die, then dive into another soldier.

Advanced players, however, will be able to play more strategically, diving into a soldier to position it on the battle field, then jumping to another soldier to position it in a separate point. You're controlling the battle field, in other words.

Tabata detailed some strategic possibilities here. You can, for instance, attempt to draw an enemy towards one soldier, then dive into a soldier behind the enemy and thus aim for the enemy's back. This is a basic strategy for the game. You can also position troops against special walls to make them perform group attacks.

The game isn't a strategy title, though. The pressure will gradually build up from the enemy. You'll have to decide when to combat enemies by strategic use of Overdiving, and when to make a soldier go into battle head-on.

Action appears to actually be the focus. To help get a sense the balance between action and strategy, Kitase explained that the staff is emphasizing the game's action tempo, and adding a strategic taste on top of that.

You'll usually find between three and four Overdive targets appearing at once on a field, said Tabata. This varies depending on the area. I'm not sure if Tabata is saying that there will be this many Overdive targets throughout the entirety of a stage, or if this is the number you'll have in your immediate vicinity at any given time.

The NPCs have a variety of weapons. As detailed earlier, you can see what weapons are available before deciding whom to dive into. You'll need to consider each weapon's special characteristics and how compatible they are with your current foes. Sample weapons mentioned by Tabata include a shot gun and a sniper rifle.

Even though you're using the NPCs' weapons, there's a customization component to the weapon system. Separate from the NPC weapons, you'll be able to bring your own customized weapons into the fight. While your customized weapons may be more powerful, they're limited in ammunition, so in general, you'll end up relying on the NPC weapons.

There seem to be some other customizations for Aya beyond the weapons. Tabata said that, similar to past entries in the series, you'll be able to make yourself stronger through customizations.

He also hinted at some sort of special new ability for Aya, of similar fashion to the Parasite Energy that appeared in past Parasite Eve games.

Nudity

Fitting the game's concept of "featuring" the Aya character, a large section of the interview is about the character.

One of the keywords for the game is "Lost Past," said Toriyama. Aya is not fighting for her friends. Instead, she's in a section of C.T.I, fighting with the thought that she has no place of her own except for the battle field.

It should be noted that when they mention "past," this doesn't mean you'll be seeing characters from past Parasite Eve games. In terms of story, The 3rd Birthday is completely new, explained Toriyama. The game features, for the most part, original characters.

The Aya character has "a secret." This secret plays into why the character has a different air about her when compared to the first two Parasite Eve games. Apparently, something happened in Aya's past, and she closed up her heart. She's become a character who feels weakness from that past happening.

I never played the older Parasite Eve games, but it appears there was a shower scene of some form involving Aya. Famitsu asked if there will be a shower scene in The 3rd Birthday. Tabata would only respond "We understand how great the expectations are."

While it's not clear that you'll see Aya in the shower, you will see lots and lots of flesh. Her clothes apparently tear apart during battle.

Tabata explained that the clothing is actually equipment. You can apparently send her out sleeveless, and this will end up showing off greater skin when her clothing tears during battle. However, she'll end up incurring more damage with this weaker clothing. The more resilient clothing, when damaged, won't show as much skin.

So how did this system come about? It looks like this is the handy work of Tetsuya Nomura.

According to Tabata, Kitase told the staff to not make the game in such a way that it would end with just one title. Additionally, the staff was hoping to potentially bring the series to a console if this first entry received support from players. This is where Nomura came into the picture. He had the idea that if the game were brought to a console, it would be interesting to have Aya's damage shown by her clothing being damaged. They ended up including the system in The 3rd Birthday as a test.

You might have noticed something totally incongruent about the tearing clothes. If Aya is only sending out her consciousness to the NPCs, and the game is only showing Aya's body for convenience, how can her clothes be tearing? Famitsu asked if the tearing clothes are meant to be Aya's own image. Responded Tabata, "No, it's probably just our image."

Outside of the tearing clothes, you'll also get to see Aya partially naked during the event scenes where she performs an Overdive. Said Toriyama, "While in overdive, she's just a consciousness, so the image is nudity. However, when she lands, she's clothed. It's pretty embarrassing."

Twisted

So what are the Twisted creatures against whom Aya wages battle? According to Toriyama, the FBI wasn't able to figure out their true form, but it's believed they've come from the future.

Famitsu asked what exactly their form is supposed to be, to which Kitase zinged, "They're twisted." Kamikokuryo joked that as part of the design, you're not supposed to understand what they are.

More seriously, Kamikokuryo said that the keyword for the design is indeed "twisted." This is how they're shaped, but the term "twisted" also applies to their related effects, the blood spray, and the space around them.

Outside of just the look, it's supposed to be difficult to anticipate where they're going to move or what they're going to do next.

All this is apparently meant to give a feeling of fear that you're being attacked by these strange creatures.

Wireless Functionality

There won't be any. Tabata said The 3rd Birthday is being made as a "top class single player game."

I'm not sure what this has to do with multiplayer play, but Tabata decided to use a car analogy here. "The battery consumption is also severe... it's like a Ferrari. The fuel economy is bad, but we have confidence in the content."

Okee...

Meaningless Numbers

So how far along is The 3rd Birthday? Tabata came up with an original response to this question: the game's quality is 70% while the game as a whole is 50%.

Kitase Gets His Hands Dirty

Kitase is the game's producer, but he also seems to have a hidden role on the game: stage creator.

He said in the interview that Tabata requested that he make the stage data himself for a section of the game just prior to the climax.

Tabata joked that Kitase would often say that he left his soul with Final Fantasy VII spinoff Dirge of Cerberus. Tabata asked for Kitase's help on The 3rd Birthday, another gun game, in order to help him get the soul back.

No, I don't know what they're talking about either.

Start of a new series

In closing comments, Toriyama chose some slightly odd wording to hype up the game. "Until Final Fantasy Agito XIII comes out, this will be tops on PSP." Sounds like he's also promoting Agito!

Toriyama also said, "A game and story that you won't believe are on PSP await, so look forward to it."

Adding to the talk of a console entry above, Kitase suggested that The 3rd Birthday could be the start of a series. "We ask for your support so that this title can be the starting point for a new series."

Hey, who let Tetsuya Nomura in here?

The site decided to include a comment from Tetsuya Nomura to close off the interview. This was also included in this week's print Famitsu.

Said Nomura, "There are many who call it Parasite Eve 3, but it's not a sequel in the Parasite Eve series but a new piece of content called The 3rd Birthday. The tense battles that have a horror-action style, the event scenes which aim to be the highest level on PSP, the cut-ins that are made with overseas movies in mind -- we believe you'll be able to enjoy a somewhat adult world."

Square Enix Hoping to Make The 3rd Birthday into a Series
Could a console version be on the way? The development staff gives some big hints.
The 3rd Birthday was originally planned as an episodic cell phone game before Square Enix switched development to a self-contained PSP game. But PSP may just be the start for the Parasite Eve revival.

Responding to an interview with Famitsu, The 3rd Birthday development staff hinted that they hope to turn the game into a series. Producer Yoshinori Kitase (also producer of Final Fantasy XIII) said to the magazine, "We ask for your support so that this title can be the starting point for a new series."

Future entries may expand beyond portables and into full-blown console releases. Director Hajime Tabata (also director of Final Fantasy Agito XIII) said that the development team hopes to make a console entry if the PSP version is well received by fans.

Square Enix seems to be doing more than just "considering" when it comes to a console version, though. The PSP version actually has some test features that are designed for a possible console release.

One of the visual oddities you might have noticed in the 3rd Birthday artwork Square Enix has released thus far is that main character Aya Brea's clothing is tattered, like she just got out of a wrestling match with a tiger. This isn't character designer Tetsuya Nomura (yes, this game has an impressive staff list) trying to make a fashion statement (if that were the case, Aya would probably have lots of zippers). Nomura actually suggested to the development staff that if 3rd Birthday were brought to a home console, one interesting gameplay component might be to have Aya's clothes get torn up as a visual reflection of damage incurred during battle.

The staff decided to implement this system in the PSP title as a test. Aya's clothing works like equipment. From what we gather, you can equip her with different clothing. Some of the clothing is skimpier than others and will tear up more easily. For instance, if you make Aya go into battle in a sleeveless garment, the clothing will tear up faster and reveal more of Aya's skin.

This is great if seeing semi-nude PSP character models is your thing. But there are some disadvantages to having Aya reveal herself. As more of her body shows, she takes greater damage. If staying alive is your goal, you'll want to equip her with fuller, stronger clothing. It won't be as sexy, and it won't tear as quickly, but it will protect her.

The torn clothing is part of the gameplay. Really!
If you've been keeping up with The 3rd Birthday, you'll have probably spotted something terribly wrong with this clothing system. One of the main components of The 3rd Birthday's gameplay a system called "Overdive." Overdive is a special power that is humanity's only hope for defeating the Twisted, strange creatures that invade Manhattan at the start of the game. Aya is the only person capable of using Overdive.

Using this skill, Aya sends out her consciousness to control the bodies of soldiers who have been placed around Manhattan. When you dive into a soldier's body, you take full control of the soldier and have access to its weapons. You're free to dive into the bodies of any soldier you see on the battle field, and can do so with no penalty or limit.

You'll need to use this system to strategically combat the Twisted, who are so powerful that they can pretty quickly take out single soldiers. One basic gameplay strategy is to have Aya dive into one soldier, draw a Twisted creature towards the soldier, then dive into a soldier behind the Twisted, allowing you to blast the creature from the back.

When you've dived into a soldier, the game swaps out the soldier's graphics with Aya, so it looks like you're controlling Aya at all times. However, this is just for convenience, said Tabata as he explained the system to Famitsu. Aya's body isn't actually there -- just her consciousness. Throughout the whole of the game, Aya's physical self remains inside C.T.I (that's Counter Twisted Intelligence) headquarters.

Which brings up the question... how exactly are her clothes being torn if she's not really on the battle field?

We're not really worried too much about this little peculiarity. In fact, we have a feeling we'll appreciate the tattered clothing if Aya's next outing should end up being on an HD console.

As suggested in the Famitsu interview, the chances of that are tied to The 3rd Birthday's success. We'll get a hint at that success when The 3rd Birthday hits Japan this Winter and the rest of the world hopefully not too far after that.

Tetsuya Nomura Discusses a Possible 3rd Birthday Sequel
Aya Brea creator has an idea for the direction he'd like to take.
Posted Dec 15, 2010 at 16:00, By Anoop Gantayat

Aya Brea is ready for an appearance on consoles.

The 3rd Birthday sees release next week. Time for some hints at a sequel? You bet!

Key members of the game's development staff have been mentioning a possible sequel for some time now. In this week's Famitsu, Aya Brea character designer and The 3rd Birthday "Creative Producer" discussed the possibility in greater depth and even hinted at a possible direction for a followup.

Asked about the possibility of a sequel, Nomura told the magazine, "We're thinking about it, but it depends on the reception of this title. It's difficult for the shooting genre to become a big hit in Japan, but through the development of this title I've come to see a direction for the next title."

"In the event that we made a next title," continued Nomura, "it would be for a console. The story this time was like an overseas drama, but next time it would maybe be like a movie version. I'd like to develop this series into something that can compete on the world stage, which is the true battle ground for the shooting genre."

By "overseas drama," Nomura is presumably referring to something like CSI or 24.

Outside of the Nomura interview, The 3rd Birthday features heavily in Famitsu this week. The magazine reviewed the game, awarding it 10, 9, 8 and 9. Reviewers praised the story, the customization options and the difficulty.

The movie version of the Parasite Eve novel. The novel is what set up the whole series as the games are sequels to the novel.

I never got to play the first one because it wasn't released into Europe and I didn't bother getting any consoles modded. But I still wouldn't want a remake. :)

I really wanted this but I'm not gonna waste my money on a handheld just for this.

I think we just have to wait for more gameplay. Shooting was always a part of Parasite Eve, I wonder if magic power will be there.

It was, but the camera angles were always fixed like resident evil, now we have over the shoulder which should add a whole new dynamic to the combat system!

Looks like the titles will be hitting the PSN!

Two things to remember: 1. the original Parasite Eve was more of an action/RPG than the sequel, as the first title boasted a quasi-turn-based mechanic. 2. Aya Brea is adorable.

Possibly in preparation for the long-awaited third installment, The 3rd Birthday, Square-Enix has confirmed that both Parasite Eve and Parasite Eve II will hit the PlayStation Network on November 18 in Japan. For the record, The 3rd Birthday will launch four days later. For those of you looking for a Resident Evil-type experience, you'll want to check out the sequel, which sacrificed the action/RPG feel of the original for a real-time third-person-shooter system. Both boast solid stories and great characters, though, and if you forget, they were quite popular in their day. The two combined to sell 3 million copies on the PlayStation and bear in mind that 12 years ago, the industry wasn't anywhere near as big as it is now. 3 million for two titles in a series was pretty damn good. Personally, PE remains one of my favorite games of all time, if only because of its unique gameplay.

Unfortunately, we're not sure when either PE will hit the North American PSN, nor are we sure when The 3rd Birthday will show up on US shores. Hopefully, it won't be too long of a wait.

http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/8008.html

Also:

The 3rd Birthday will be released sometime between January and March in North America, but there's been no word at all on if and when it will be out in Europe. Square Enix has been pretty good with near-global release dates lately though, so we don't imagine it'll be too long after.

The 3rd Birthday will be released in Japan on 22nd December and to help promote it Square Enix are re-releasing the original PS one game on the PlayStation Network. That means you'll be able to download Parasite Eve to play either on the PlayStation 3 or PSP.

Or is it just an impression that you get?

What gets me in ff13 is that they're trying to make Snow and Serah's relationship romantic but it failed bacause Snow is too annoying, cocky and bositerous for my liking. I don't even feel sympathethic and empathy for him because most of the time I feel like bashing his head with a fire extinguisher.

I don't know why I said it, really. It's just I think that FF8 isn't mentioned enough comparing to FF7 and we all know how many Fans FF7 has. And with FF9, that's definitely a quiet one, it's hardly mentioned in the Final Fantasy World at all.

Tetsuya Nomura Discusses a Possible 3rd Birthday Sequel
Aya Brea creator has an idea for the direction he'd like to take.
Posted Dec 15, 2010 at 16:00, By Anoop Gantayat
http://www.andriasang.com/blog/2010/12/15/3rd_birthday_sequel/2132435258.jpg

That was amazing! Little confused because I thought Maya would be returning but apparently it's Eve from PE2, kinda weird hearing Aya call her sister over and over, nice to see Kyle back again. And good god the wedding scene was horrific in an amazing way! haha

And yes yes yes, give us even more PE goodness on the console!
Hell I can't wait anymore, they should release the game in Japanese with English subs and patch the dub in later :jmp:

Famitsu I guess

- The 3rd Birthday (10/9/8/9, 36 points): Square Enix's Parasite Eve revival does remarkably well overall, despite its under-the-radar status in the West. "Your character is deeply customizable," one reviewer said, "and the more you get into the game, the more freedom you get. The difficulty level is pretty serious, and if you feel tough enough for it, you're going to love it. Repeated playthroughs are going to become a habit for you."

"Overdiving into the minds of soldiers and quickly moving around the battlefield is just exhilarating," another added. "Every fight against the stronger enemies has its own twist, and it's fun searching for the solution to each one as you play."

The opinions weren't all rosy, though -- "The story is a mix of all sorts of different elements and is a bit hard to follow."

So wooo! A 10, 2 9's and an 8, shaping up pretty well!

For years now, my Parasite Eve 2 soundtrack has the year 1999 on the back, can't find a date on the Parasite Eve 1 soundtrack though, but I believe I bought them around the same time, can't really remember.

Yeah, well I wouldn't get my hopes up. They said the same time for Birth By Sleep originally, and that ended up not coming out until September. SE takes forever with translating their games now. >_<

For now, Square said if it sold well enough a console version wouldn't be out of the question, meaning PS3 is also being considered.

One thing PE will always have over all the other Square games, is the greatest music for a game series. I can listen to the PE OST for hours on end and never hate any of it.
