With the moderators' approval (:yah:) I was thinking of starting a series of interviews with selected TRF members and moderators. But before I do so I wanted to ask a few questions to get some feedback. Would members be willing to take part in an interview? Would moderators be willing to participate? What kind of questions would you ask?

This last one is the area I'm most keen on. How in depth would you go or be willing to reveal? Nothing personal, but some people like their anonymity. I think it would be fun to get a picture of the whole forum, people views, impressions, general information that isn't widely known. And to look at all the different types of posters here at TombRaiderForums.

I look forward to sensible feedback. ;):p

Great concept, very original, it should help bring some fresh new perspectives on the forum. :tmb:

As for the questions, I think we should mostly stick to generic subjects such as our basic background (where we're from, what we do, what are our interests, dreams, etc) and our opinions on relevant subjects such as TR itself, videogames in general, etc.

Wow, I'm surprised at how much interest this thread got already! :D Here's how the interviews will work:

I've already got a couple of people I'm hoping to interview - members famous for their contributions to the forum. Once I've gotten those done, I wish to interview those who made their interest known here. :) What I'd like from you, our fine TRF community is to provide me with questions YOU would like answered by the Interviewee.

The first member up for interviewing is Heather (Quasimodo). Please list your questions that you would like to be in the interview. I will select a few to go hand in hand with my own. :)

Thank you everyone!

17-08-10, 16:36
No. I hate these kind of ideas.
You know what?
You are just going to awake a huge explosion of threads about "No one interviewed ME!!" etc. + I don't like the idea of someone dividing members to being "famous" and "unfamous" when it's just about the number of posts...
No, thanks :)

Catracoth
17-08-10, 16:45
You can just list questions you'd like to see in the interview. :)

@Xmas, I'm sorry you view the interviews that way - I didn't intend for it to be a popularity contest of sorts. :/ I think you're being a bit too negative.

Maybe you could ask the common questions that James Lipton asks on his show 'Inside the Actor's Studio'.

not all them require you to be an actor, really. he sometimes will ask something like, "If [any] God exists, what would you like Him to say to greet you if you were to reach Heaven?"

he also asks what your favorite sound is and other good and interseting questions.

Laras Dream
17-08-10, 18:45

What is your favorite word?
What is your least favorite word?
What turns you on?
What turns you off?
What sound or noise do you love?
What sound or noise do you hate?
What is your favorite curse word?
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

May I proudly present, the first official TRF Interview, starring Heather (Quasimodo) (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/member.php?u=23693)!

Let's start with your name, and where on the globe may we find you?
Heather. I also go by Quasi or Pony. Location: The Bell Tower, in Roasty Toasty Texas.

Pony? Interesting nickname. Is that for your love of horses?
Yup. It's a nickname I had back in school. When I was little, I drew horses all the time and could probably name off and describe just about every breed.

You sound just like a friend of mine; she loves horses more than anything else. What brought you to the Tomb Raider Forums initially?
It was a while back - okay, only three years. But I liked how much people seemed to appreciate art over there and decided to give it a go. I posted a picture of Lara as an Avalon knight - of course this was before we knew CD's vision of Avalon wasn't super fantastical. I think I got about five or ten replies - I was thrilled. I stuck around to discuss future games, look up walkthroughs, and of course all the heated political (and other) discussions. TRF is the first forum I've really stuck with.

That's most excellent. You've made quite a name for yourself in the art community. What inspires you to create such brilliant work?
D'awww! Thanks. Lots of times I'll be inspired by other artists on TRF and DeviantArt, by a videogame, a movie, something I read, etc. I also get inspiration from daydreams - I've been trying to piece some together to get into writing, but I've yet to come up with a plot I'm totally satisfied with. Some things that interest me visually are exotic locations like Thailand's "floating" islands, Middle East architecture, Victorian and Baroque decorating, venetian masks, and art and artifacts from various ancient cultures.

That's quite the extensive list! You mentioned that you write also - what have you written in the past? Are you working on anything currently?
Mostly essays...but I did enter one of the fan fiction competitions on TRF not too long ago. Here it is: http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showpost.php?p=4149042&postcount=30. I'm also playing around with some ideas for the current fan fiction competition. I think I might even do a few original short stories, too.

I'm looking forward to reading more of your work! If you don't mind, I'll change the topic to personal questions. What do you see yourself doing in the future whether it be an occupation or side hobbies?
I only have a couple of semesters before I finish my Bachelor's degree in English. After that, I plan on registering for the teacher training program at my university so I can work as a high school English teacher. I think I'll illustrate children's books on the side and maybe do some travelling.

That sounds not only creative but inspiring. To be able to mold younger minds and open their eyes to the world of literature. I applaud you! What other profession would you like to attempt? What profession would you prefer to stay the furthest from?
I'd love to draw comics on a professional level - probably independently, I can't see myself as Top Cow or Marvel level for the time being. A profession I'd like to stay furthest from is anything to do with complicated math (my Achille's heel) or totally dependent on free-lancing (I like stability).

Art seems to be your strongest point - that's absolutely fantastic. I'm not a fan of math myself, so I'm with you there. What's your favourite word and your least favourite?
Ah, but there are so many to choose from! Favorite at the moment? Livid. Least favorite? Pimple.

Most interesting, Heather. I could help but chuckle! Now, touching back on Tomb Raider relations, what would be your favourite aspect about the franchise and Lara Croft herself?
I like the escape of going to far off, sometimes imaginary places armed with Lara's super-human abilities. I remember having a lot of fun with Lara's "moon jump" in the classics. That's probably one of the things I miss most from the old games. You can imagine my disappointment when I played Legend for the first time :P Not that it wasn't a blast that first play-through, though.

I know what you mean - there were some aspects of the originals that were just buried, sadly. How do you feel about Lara Croft? Do you believe she is a solid role model?
I never really thought of Lara as a role model any more than I thought Mario might be someone to look up to, to be honest. :-O That's just me. Maybe a kleptomaniac helicopter-pilot-murderer isn't the best person to look up to!

I can't deny how much I just laughed! Quite right. Well, in that case, what takes the cake for your favourite Tomb Raider game, and what earned it the honorary title?
If I still owned a copy, Tomb Raider II. I could never get far without quite a lot cheating for medipacks and ammo, but I loved the variety of locations and the creative thinking needed to get from place to place. What Tomb Raider fan could forget Venice?

Venice was indeed a landmark in the Tomb Raider world. Out of the many gorgeous models to portray Miss Croft, who would be your number one?
Karima Adebibe. She's easily the most unique and stunning as far as looks go. Before Karima, Jill de Jong was my favorite Lara model.

Karima was absolutely phenomenal, in my opinion. Now, you've been a part of the TRF community for quite a bit of time. What were your high and low points in your three years here?
Finally, something potentially scandalous! Heh. I've had more than my fair share of low points when I let my temper get the better of me or when I didn't think out all implications and consequences of my actions. Oddly enough, I think I've gotten in the most trouble trying to be funny. Now I'm just sticking to my guns by spending more time in the creative sections. I like to lurk and sometimes participate in some of the discussions going on in GC and Future of TR, too - recently I've even joined in on some of the TinyChat discussions. Those were fun! I try not to "stir the pot" too much these days.

I can surely say I've been there and back. Speaking of the future of Tomb Raider, how much longer do you feel that the franchise will live? Hope we're not walking on too many eggshells here.
I think there's at least a few years left. If Nancy Drew can have 20 games and counting, surely Lara can make it past nine.

Very well put. Here's a random question submitted by our very own robm_2007 at the forums: if Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
"I told you I'm real!"

Watch out, Heather's coming through! Thank you very much for your time, Heather! Is there anything you'd like to say to the TRF community before we walk off the stage?
It's been a pleasure. You're on your way to being a regular Katie Couric :) Some last words for the TRF community? How about some unsolicited advice? That always goes down well! Here goes: try not to take disagreements and differences of opinions personally. Choose your battles wisely and be able to take a joke. That's all!

Sounds like a great idea Catracoth. Count me in. I would love to participate in an in-depth interview. I am not hiding anything. :) Some questions that could be asked could be really in-depth such as religious views, sexuality, etc.etc. to more common things like favorite color, or where you want to be 5 years from now etc. :) Sounds like fun.

why dont we all interview each other, it would be a lot faster and more fun:)

Like split the list off into random groups... of say 5 to 10 people, each person has to interview one or two peeps from that group, and everyone gets interviewed in each group. :) But randomly chosen, I think this will help get to know each other better plus more active... since the list is quite long and the people at the end may get a bit impatient :o

And now, (drum roll please) I'd like to present another TRF Interview starring Minty Mouth (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/Minty_Mouth)!

I'm here with Minty Mouth from TRF. May we have your name?
Hi ^_^ My name's Jake Alexander Collins. Most people don't like their middle names, but, I'm actually quite fond of mine, so I try to include it wherever I can!

That just rolls of the tongue, doesn't it? Great name :D! Jake, where in the world are you?
I have lived my entire life in Grimsby, England. It’s a small-ish town in Yorkshire.

Jolly good. How did you stumble upon Tomb Raider Forums and how long ago was that? Surely not in the prehistoric era?
Haha, nope. My join date (if I'm not mistaken) was in September 2007. I remember lurking for a little bit before joining, but not for very long, at least. I don't remember the exact reason I was searching around the net for Tomb Raider related stuff, but It was around the time I bought Tomb Raider: Legend, so I was probably looking for a walkthrough/advice/discussion of that game. I'm not exactly proud of the fact that I use walkthroughs, but whatever it takes to get you to the end of the game :P

I can't deny my fair use of walkthroughs either. September of 2007, you said? Quite a bit of time! What were your high and low points of being a member of the community?
I was waiting for this question! Well, I don't know if I will get a slap on the wrist for mentioning this, but my low point is most probably when I got temporarily banned :P I won't go into huge detail, but suffice to say, It was near the beginning of my membership, and I was even more immature than I am now, and really not very subtle with my butt-kissing. Anyway, I hope that is enough for you to get the general picture of that whole 'incident'. I have, fortunately, successfully avoided the ban hammer since then and managed to enjoy my forum time in peace! Picking a high point is obviously not easy, but I'd have to give it to all the great people I've met, a couple in particular, and definitely all the great writers and writing support I found here.

Immature? I can't picture it! Speaking of writing, you're quite well known in the community for your work. How did you first get into writing?
Well, first of all, I'm not so sure about that :P I was wondering why I got myself an advance ticked to interview-dom. Is the ace I have up my sleeve? xD Well, thank you for the recognition, Catracoth! When it comes to writing, I always loved doing it in school. We used to have a creative writing class in junior school, and it was pretty much the only subject I got any praise for :P I carried on writing exclusively in school until about a year ago, when I did my GCSE exams and had sudden inspiration to write something in my free time. I started out with a story based on the video game 'Shadow of the Colossus', wrote a couple of chapters and posted it on TRF. I was really hugely proud of myself since it was the first thing I had written purely because I wanted to, and I got such great encouragement on the forums that it really spurred me on to keep going. From there I entered writing competitions on the forums, and took part in my first National Novel Writing Month in 2009. I hit the 50K word goal and learned so much about writing that I couldn't let it go. It had become my favourite thing to do (next to reading, of course!) But sooner or later it eclipsed even that. I took part in JulNoWriMo this year, and even though I didn't make it to the end of the month (I blame Lara c Fan. Sorry dude) I'm still working on it and it is my favourite piece yet! I fear I have really digressed on that last question. I get a little carried away on this subject, so I apologise :P

Quite all right, Jake. You sound a bit like me when it comes to writing. Are you working on anything currently that you can let us in on?
I touched on it in the last answer, but my big project at the minute is a currently untitled novel that I didn't finish in July. I find titling my stuff the hardest part, actually. I suppose if that's all I have to complain about I have it pretty good , don't I? xD Well, it's still in first draft, so after I have hit about 60K I am hoping to send it out to a couple of Beta Readers and to revise and rewrite it until it is something I am proud of! Once I'm done I think I'm going to run it through createspace and self publish it. I'm not quite optimistic enough to think a publisher will want it. Publishing is a REALLY tough business, and what publishers want is really specific. I just want to see my baby bound and on paper so I can give it as a gift to everybody at Christmas!

I remember seeing your cover art for it - most excellent work! From your experience writing, what has been the best thing it's taught you?
Here is where the clichés come in. It is trite and hackneyed, but this has developed into my dream, and it isn't easy. I think people take the whole writing thing for granted. They read a book and they don't understand that it's the poor author's heart slathered all over the page, running all over the place and ready to be judged. SInce I started writing I no longer sneer at names like Stephenie Meyer or J.K Rowling. At least they had the guts to sit down and write a damn book, which I can tell you from experience, is definitely not easy. That's the first thing. No matter how 'bad', or 'unoriginal', or 'ridiculous' you might deem a piece of art or expression to be, it means a hell of a lot to the person who put it in front of you. And you know what? If you want to act like a hardass and bash and hate on it, you should try your hand at a craft you are passionate about, and see how involving it is. See how hard it is to even get it finished, because many times out of ten, the people sneering at Meyer are the kind who wouldn't be able to commit to their own craft in the first place. Be happy for people who have achieved their dreams. You can achieve yours too!

That was quite the heartfelt response, Jake. No doubts about how seriously you take your writing. It's really inspirational! If you don't mind, let's switch the topic over to the Tomb Raider franchise. How long have you been a fan of Lara Croft?
Thank you! Now, this is where I show my utter and complete ignorance: My first Tomb Raider game was Legend, and to this day it is still my favourite. It is the one opinion that will get you lynched more than any other on TRF, but I stand by it wholeheartedly! Before I played Legend I had obviously Heard of Tomb Raider, but just never gotten around to playing any of the games. To this day I have not played anything earlier than Angel of Darkness (Which is my third favourite TR Game) except a few PC demos for Tomb Raider II and the like, but I still consider myself to be a Tomb Raider fan,, or, at least, a Crystal Dynamics Fan :P

Most interesting indeed. Who do you think has done their best portraying Lara? Do you think the current model, Allison Carrol does her part well?
The tomb raider models are something I haven't really gotten that involved with. Since I am of 'the new generation' (if I may put it that way) Karima was the first Model I had heard of portraying Lara Croft (And I'm not particularly fond of her). Allison Carrol is definitely better than Karima for me, but I still think there is a perfect fit for Lara out there waiting to be cast!

Very well put. Let's switch up the game a bit for a moment to some new questions. What takes the title of being your favourite film?
Wow! That's hard... I always have trouble with this question, because I'm not a big movie fan. I love a good film as much as the next guy, but I have such limited tastes I don't see much of the medium. (I hate the idea of horror movies and to this day have never watched one!) Though, if I were pushed for an answer, It would probably be a comedy called Mystery Men based on a comic Series. It’s a spoof of the genre about a group of superheroes who have rather pathetic powers. It stars Ben Stiller and Hank Azaria and has some of the greatest comedy moments in any film I have ever seen! The improv is fantastic!

Hmm, reminiscent of Kick Ass...kidding! What about video games outside of the Tomb Raider world? Any favourites in that region?
One of the first game series I loved was Dynasty Warriors. They are infamous for being the biggest button mashers ever, but I loved it since Dynasty Warrors 2 and have owned every game since! Also worth mentioning are Soulcalibur and Final Fantasy, my favourite series in their respective genres.

Dynasty Warriors rings a bell. Button mashers always pulled over well in the past, I think. Going back to Tomb Raider for a moment, would you say that your being a fan to the franchise is loyal? Would you ever stop being a fan before the franchise came to an end?
I think my interest in Tomb Raider has been purely sustained by Tomb Raider Forums (which I suppose is a win for the administration team :P That's their goal, I guess). If it weren't for the forums I would have forgotten about Tomb Raider a long time ago, and since I am such a newbie to all things Lara Croft I don't think I have any special attachments to her as a character. It's kind of embarrassing admitting it on a Tomb Raider Forum, but I'm not that much of a fan at all! I'm a fan of this community first and foremost, but that is enough for me.

Very well said indeed. Is there anything interesting about yourself that no one on the forums knows?
Now that is something I'm going to have to think about! Something that a few people know is that I am colour-blind. It's hardly interesting, but it’s a pain in the arse, and explains a lot of my graphic design fails around the forum. If you ever stumble across a hue-based faux pas on my part, know that I am not to blame!

That must get quite frustrating at times! I can't thank you enough for your time, Jake. Is there anything you'd like to say to the community before we shove off?
Listen to Paramore and read the book Lolita. Two things that changed my life!

Words of wisdom from Jake Collins, everyone. Until next time! Love and peace.

I'm proud to present an interview with Melonie Tomb Raider (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/member.php?u=3696)!

http://www.tombraiderforums.com/image.php?u=3696&dateline=1272557294&type=profile

Welcome back to the TRF Interview table, everyone! I'm here with Melonie Tomb Raider, a well known member of the community. Thanks for joining me today Melonie! How are you?
Wooo! Thank you for interviewing me, I'm very honored and happy to participate. I'm doing great!

Melonie, how long have you been a fan of the Tomb Raider franchise?
I've been a fan of the Tomb Raider franchise since I was 13. A few Tomb Raider games had been out by then, but I played them all chronologically, and instantly fell in love after just minutes of playing the original.

A fan from the get go, I see. According to your profile, you've been a member of the TRF community for...over 8 years?! That's quite the milestone! How did you come across the forums?
Haha yes, I've been around the forums for quite some time now! Just like most of us hardcore Tomb Raider fans, I searched the web for anything and everything Tomb Raider related. It was through these searches that I found tombraiderchronicles.com, which became my favorite website for all things Lara Croft! Shortly afterward, I found the forums and have been hooked ever since.

A similar story to my own, to be honest. Just going to take a quick detour here - where in God's green earth may we find you?
Growing up with my father in the Army, I've moved around the country all of my life. After getting tired of changing my location everytime I moved, I simply stuck with writing, "God's green earth" as my residence, because no matter what state I live in, that will always hold true at least. However, right now I live in lil' ol' Arkansas.

That's most interesting! Returning to the TRF community, you're very well known for your large contributions to the art scene, and the fame is well deserved if I do say so myself! How did you first get into art?
Why thank you! Drawing is such a huge passion of mine. Art was encouraged in my family, and I've been drawing for as long as I can remember. It really stuck with me, and I'm constantly striving to improve.

Art has always been a passion of mine as well, of course separating into different branches. Speaking of, how far does your interest in art go? Do you engage in any other types besides your famous digital work?
I used to primarily draw with pencils, but I ventured into charcoals and pastels in college for a little bit. Never really pursued going any further with that, though. Although I will always go back to my pencils from time to time, I'm pretty much strictly digital.

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg179/MeloniesArt/drawing.jpg

That's really something - to evolve so much from simple pencil artwork. Now, it's been known for quite some time that you've been getting deeply involved in the gaming community. Some members are enlightened already, but could you perhaps shine some light on that for those who haven't heard about your mind-blowing experience?
Oh yes, my gaming industry endeavors have definitely been the biggest excitement of my life! Like many gamers out there, it's been my goal for quite some time to get involved in the industry. In 2006 I stumbled upon an all girl professional gaming team sponsored by Ubisoft called the "Frag Dolls". It was refreshing to see females in gaming promoted as the actual gamers they were, rather than just booth babes, which we are all familiar with seeing.

I continued to keep up with what the Frag Dolls were doing, and would post on their forums from time to time as well. It was later that I discovered an internship program they had started called the "Cadettes". After the first term had finished, I applied for the second, and I made it! As a Cadette, I got to go to PAX East and E3, where I promoted games like Splinter Cell Conviction, Your Shape: Fitness Evolved, and Driver: San Francisco. In addition to that, I also had the opportunity to meet and mingle with a lot of big names in the industry! In fact, it was at E3 where I got to meet Tomb Raider's very own Keir!

The experience I had with Ubisoft and the Frag Dolls truly was a blessing, and I will continue to eagerly seek future familiar opportunities as an ongoing career.

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg179/MeloniesArt/GoLMelandKeir.jpg

When I had first heard about your endeavours, I nearly fell out of my chair - completely honest here. I was so happy for you and dare I admit, a little bit envious! I can't imagine how wide a door of opportunities has opened here. Are you planning on pursuing any career or side activities in the gaming industry?
Thank you, that's very nice of you! I had so much support from you, and a lot of other members in our lovely TRF community, and that meant the WORLD to me! I definitely plan on pursuing future opportunities as a career in the gaming industry. It's something I wanted to do before, but after actually experiencing a taste of it, I now have no doubt that this is what I'm meant to do! Like you suggested, I did make a lot of great connections, and opportunities are looking great so far! I'm pretty certain that something will definitely work out for me within the next year. I'm working hard, and the connections I've made helps a lot!

I have no illusions that you'll definitely make yourself known in the gaming world. Best of luck to you! Travelling back in time for a moment, you've been a member of the community for two years shy of a decade; surely there's been some memorable happenings and hopefully a small number of low points. Would you mind touching on that a bit?
Being a part of a community for that long has certainly left an impact on me. I don't want to sound cheesy, but I consider TRF to be my internet family. I've been involved ever since I was 15, and I'm going on 24 now. I feel like I did a lot of growing up on the forums. I've posted some downright silly and immature stuff before, yet other times I might be more serious and insightful. I've argued with member, and also made up with many of them as well. Like I said, it's like a family. There will always be ups and downs, but ultimately, we all share the same passion in the Tomb Raider games, and I feel that connection and even a bond with everyone.

Very well said, Mel, and very heartfelt! I'm sending an Internet hug your way. Have you ever gotten into any serious debates on the forums? What was your most memorable one?
Ooh I love hugs, even the internet ones! Hugs right back at you! As for the question goes, yes, I've had some pretty heated and serious debates! Most of the debates I've been in were just silly and nothing personal, but like I said before, I've definitely had a couple of serious ones as well. Most of my debates were from when I was younger, I've mellowed out quite a bit and am not the arguing type right now.

However, I'd have to say my most heated debates were with a certain member (who I will not name, despite the fact that the majority won't know who I'm talking about anyway lol), which pretty much started because of our conflicts of personal beliefs. Although, this particular member was rude to everyone anyway, and it didn't take too long before they met the ban hammer. That lightened the mood up quite a bit.

Although, I will definitely admit that I was not perfect, and said plenty of things I shouldn't have as well. I actually learned some great lessons in netiquette from our little debates.

I know I've certainly learnt a thing or two through altercations! You mentioned personal beliefs in your previous answer - to my understanding, you're very religious. How did your journey into Catholicism come about?
Well, I'm not Catholic, so I can't recall that journey! haha! I'm actually a Protestant Christian. I grew up in a Christian home and going to church. It stuck with me into adulthood, and has turned from the routine that it was in my childhood to an actual personal part of my life. My faith is the most important thing for me. I believe that Christ died to pay for my sins so that I can go to heaven, so of course I am very grateful for that!

Oh, my mistake! How embarrassing. *runs away* It's great to learn of someone else who holds their faith dear to them - slightly reminiscent of Cassie Bernall (may God rest her soul.) Going back to the Tomb Raider franchise for a moment, what is your favourite Tomb Raider game?
This is a difficult question, because I constantly go back and forth between the first three games. I think on a technical level, the original Tomb Raider was the best, while I find Lara's character most interesting in Tomb Raider 3, along with the diverse environments! However, I have to say Tomb Raider 2 is my favorite, purely based on the fact that I have the fondest memories of it.

I can vouch for you there - I can never decide on a single game. When it comes to Lara Croft herself, what is your overall opinion on the Lady?
Lara Croft is truly iconic for a reason. She's amazing! For me, Lara Croft is a strong and independent woman, which is inspiring. When I was a teenager, I wanted to be Lara so bad! haha!

Ultimately, we've seen changes in Lara Croft's personality and looks. It seems like she's always at least somewhat different in every game, yet her portrayal of feminine strength remains, and I love that.

I couldn't agree with you any more than I do currently. Thank you so much for your time Melonie! Is there anything you'd like to say to the community before we bow out?
Yes, of course! I want to thank everyone for taking the time to read my interview, and for being around on the forums. Whether we're debating about Lara's braid v.s. ponytail, or building each other up with encouragement and kind words, I am so happy to communicate with each and every single one of you! Thanks for everything, and keep raiding the forums!

It's Melonie Tomb Raider, ladies and gentlemen. Until next time! Love and peace.

I'm proud to present an interview with Mr.Burns (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/member.php?u=21520)! :D

Welcome back to the TRF Interviews everyone! I'm here with one of our moderators, Mr.Burns! How are you doing today?
Peachy.

Good to hear! If you don't mind, may we have your name and the area of which you populate?
Mark. I am from New York State. That's about all you'll get out of me. :p

I'm sure you'll be willing to talk after a little interroga--I mean, warming up...*sinister laugh* Just kidding :p. Now Mark, how did you come across Tomb Raider Forums and Tomb Raider Chronicles.com?
Well, I've been wondering about that for a while now. I do remember coming to TRC way back in the day when AoD first came out. I think it was to see if there were any updates to all the bugs I was experiencing. I also vaguely remember popping onto the forum (as a guest), though I don't recall much. A few years ago, I was a lurker and I remember this one day, I was reading a fight that had occurred between two members. I was so annoyed that I decided to join to put in my two cents but as I finished my registration, I found that the thread had been closed.

That must have annoyed you a bit! Happened to me a couple of times too. How did you come to be a member of our wonderful community of staff members?
I offered to take care of Justin's penguins. Na, I'm just kidding...or am I? Hmmm. Obviously we (the mods) are just having a bit of fun with that sort of humor. I was asked. There was a period when things were chaotic and the staff was short handed. So I got a message one day asking if I would like to help out. and here I am.

That's quite the honour to be bestowed upon thee. Pardon my Shakespearian comment :pi: . Now Mark, I'm sure a lot of people are wondering the motives behind your pigeon avatar. Would you care to shed some light on that, or would you prefer to keep it a secret?
LOL!!! I thought it was funny. C'mon, look at that face. But in reality, I hate pigeons. Can't stand them. They always try and crap on my Mustang.

LOL pigeons are quite the nuisance. What about your 'Pigeon Lord' title? How did that come about?
Uh....I think that was Geck-o-Lizard. I can't recall. It just stuck. I'm not the type to constantly change my avatar. It's a visual representation of who I am, even if it's way off from reality and people do begin to associate you with your avatar. So to change it constantly, it can be quite disconcerting.

I always wanted to find the avatar that stuck with me, but alas, I have failed in that search. Switching back over to Tomb Raider for a moment, how long have you been a fan of the franchise?
Since...lol I have to think. Definitely 1996. Might have been winter. I was working at Staples and I saw the box for TR on sale. I thought "um...her boobs are huge but the game looks interesting" Gave it a try and was hooked from the very first level. The lack of music was quite unsettling since I was raised with Nintendo, Atari and DOS games that had constant music. That's a bit of a two sided answer but oh well. :)

Fourteen years is quite the landmark. I'm definitely a fan of Nintendo's tune-based games, especially Mario. Can't go a moment without the music there. To this day, what is your favourite game in the series?
Oooooooh. That, is quite a tough one. Well, it's like asking a star wars fan "what's the best movie?" because you have the first game, which set the stage and raised the bar, so in that case, I would go with the first one. But in terms of being a right pain in the ass to complete and makes me want to rip my hair out each and every time: TR 4. I also loved the cinematics. Good story too.

I can't argue with you there - the first one was indeed bar-raising and iconic. What's your opinion on Lara Croft herself?
Lara Croft. First off: she's not real. Her boobs are too big, I can't imagine how she doesn't have horrible back problems (if she were real). Aside from that, I think she's a strong character and definitely a good step in the right direction for showing the world that women can be powerful, sexy and quite capable of kicking some serious ass.

I almost fell out of my chair :vlol: . Even still, it's a good insight. Steering back to personal questions, what does it mean to you to be a moderator at Tomb Raider Forums?
Lots of hard work. :p I just like to help out, that's pretty much it. It's not an easy job. We may not appear to do much but the hard part comes from making decisions on any situation that is presented to us. Contrary to what may would think, we debate and discuss most situations.

I can't imagine it being easy at all. Surely in your time being a part of the community, you've had to deal with some unpleasant situations, but I'm sure there were positives too. Could you touch on those?
The TRF quiz. The last time we did that, that was an absolute blast. All of the moderators chipped in in some fashion though it was mainly run by Gabi, Jackles, Ward Dragon and myself. It was our first time running the quiz and there was quite a bit of trial and error. We still had fun and we would definitely love to do it again. My favorite moment was the teaser threads I started in Gen Chat. They got everyone really psyched up for it. :)

Sounds like quite the eventful happening :D! What's a common misconception that people have of you?
That I'm a pigeon. :p I know people joke about that. Actually a lot of people thing that I'm pretty stoic. I'm not. I'm fairly goofy when the moment arises. :)

Most interesting. I can't deny, I thought you were obsessed with pigeons when I first met you! :p What's your favourite thing about the forums?
I really enjoy talking to people from all walks of life, especially geographically speaking. I've tried having pen pals in the past and that has never worked out too well, though it was quite a bit harder several years ago before the internet really advanced to what we have today. On many occasions I have to remind myself that I am talking to people in completely different time zones.

You and me both! I feel so bad sometimes for sending a message to someone, forgetting it's 3am where they are :o. Thank you very much for joining me today, Mark. Would you like to say anything to the community before we seal the envelope?
You're quite Welcome Mason. Well, have fun, enjoy your time here, behave and don't spam. We're ever watchful of that. :p

Mr.Burns, ladies and gentlemen! Until next time, love and peace.

I really liked this one.
They are all very interesting and I love it that people really try to respond in a quality manner.

That's my default response :p

And when people ask "What's up?" I tend to respond with (inside) "ceiling" (outside) "clouds."

very good!

its nice to have an interview with a moderator.

i think it would have really funny (but not necessary to make the interview good), if you wrote some bird noises in between what Mr. Burns was saying, to make it seem as if he is in fact, a bird.
