You know, when you're downloading something and you have to pay attention to the Download Speed of the download. Well, I've conjured up a question: What's the highest download speed (per second) you have breached during any download which you have witnessed? :P

I think I've reached 38MB/s when downloading a program which is about 7GB big. Pretty good speed, especially when the download speed is usually around 555KB/s. :o

You gotta watch out the first seconds, because Internet Explorer or Firefox (or any web browser) will start and cache the download during the time you choose where you want to save it. So the speed is inaccurate for those first five or ten seconds.

My highest download speed was at the university dorms, before they fixed the internet. I downloaded a linux iso at 6,5MB/s

now I can't download faster than 300kB/s :(

I hit just over 400 kB/s once. I thought it was magical.

I imagine it would be something really quite epic if I downloaded something at uni, but I haven't tried it yet.

About 520 kb/s.

BT are arseholes.

Well, that's at home. At school, I do believe I got something close to 1.5 mb/s. Because they have internet so fast it will rip your face off. ^__^

I almost just nerdgasmed :cln: Australia is building a national fibre-to-the-home network, but I doubt it will be THAT fast.... although I can dream.

At home it's 1.5MB. My college has worse speeds...

About 520 kb/s.

Yet we have the same ISP

Most likely because I'm much closer to the telephone exchange though? (10 min walk from my house).

I almost just nerdgasmed :cln: Australia is building a national fibre-to-the-home network, but I doubt it will be THAT fast.... although I can dream.

It was down tuned too. The point was to test the parity of the cable design and calculate the % of information corruption. It scored high at 0.56%. I heard the second test went better and they managed to get the speed test done... at 360Gb/s.

Now that is a fast connection.
