ok if you are in another country can you retrieve your cell phone messages? Like if it is really really far away. For example Korea and Canada?

Nope. Not unless your provider states that you have worldwide coverage...there aren't too many that do that either.

If your mobile phone operator provides such a service and your phone is multi-band (and the country you're in has adequate coverage). Distance makes no difference, all mobile phones operate via satellite (and masts secondarily).

What if I use those cell phone coverage cards in Canada. "Pay as you go" what I am curious to really know s that if I call from another country if I can get my messages even if I dial into my account from a different phone and get them? Is that possible?

If you dont have world wide coverage then you cant use your phone. You can get a new account and number when you get to your destination (pre paid type with the countries own telecommunications company) but you cant access your old messages from that phone.

In Europe I could read my text messages that I had already recieved before leaving Australia, but couldnt recieve any new ones, or phone calls. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

 Nope, when you call your voice mail inbox it sends a unique serial number to your service provider. After verification of your PIN number it will let you access your messages. I've tried with friends phones on the same network as I with no luck http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

There are several types of cell phone services around the globe. Two providers that i know of that allow you to go country to country is T-Mobile & Verizon Wireless but the rates per minutes in other countries are insanely high.
