View Full Version : Do you believe?......

Do you think that you were meant to meet certain people who change your life? Or is it chance, destiny or fate?

One time I was in the hospital in visiting a friend, (nothing serious) and I started talking to this really nice older lady, she was there visiting her son, he had just overdosed on drugs and we had a really long-deep conversation (I held her hand and gave her tissues) on the many paths on life, and choices we make, and I remember her telling me I had a really friendly face and she said that she and I were destined to meet, and I was meant to be at the hospital to help her through her rough time, it kind of freaked me out--but she was really nice and I still remember and think about her!

Just recenty met someone online by chance really, and the more I get to know this person, we find out we have so much in common, I mean the similarities are really scary http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yikes.gif I am kind of at a point where I think I was supposed to meet this person for some reason yet to be revealed, really freaky, but I believe in that sort of thing!

Does anyone else have any similar stories?

i think that we meet people in this world because of the way we act and the way our personalities are - bringing people that think the same together eventually. when we meet people we are not in tune with or who do not think the same sorts of things, we move on and eventually meet people that have similar thoughts.

im not sure if i believe in fate - because i think our own minds make our decisions, and that they are ours - not some cosmic force's. as a famous scifi movie once quoted - "I don't like the idea that I'm not in control of my life."

sure we meet people that change our perspective and personalities - but that is just because of the diverse universe of personalities that is out there... - its bound to happen.

its an interesting topic nerdalicious...

You know it's funny but.....I know exactly what you mean. In fact, if my msn contact list wasn't showing so many red lights right now...*hint*

I feel like I have a sixth sense or something, I get this feeling in my stomach, when I know/feel something is going to happen, it was that way when I discoved my ex husband was seeing someone else http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/privateeye.gif

Off topic-damn roomie is making me leave his msn up wating for someone to come on, did send an email though http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif

It is bound to happen, exactly the way Duffman explained. But be careful in 'believing', because online everyone can make you believe anything. Maybe this person just tells you what you want to hear / read. When you were "supposed to meet this person for some reason yet to be revealed," that could turn out be a bad experience as well. Just to make you wiser to not believe what people pretend to be, in 'personal contacts' on the internet.

I suddenly don't like your roomie

(Joseph's a card, eh?)

Joseph, it is so funny you bring that up, because I dealt with that today, and you are right, but I am just enjoying my feelings right now http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif

We tend to call 'fate' the good experiences - we like to think that 'it was bound to happen' because we feel happy; but concerning the bad experiences, we call them 'bad luck'.

I think we make our own fate. We are given chances through our life, but it's up to us if we will grab them or just pass by them.

i do believe in destiny and fate. we were all put here to meet certain people, do certain things etc.

i believe that only a few people find their soulmate. the people who dont find their soulmate usually their relationship doesnt last, whether theyre married or not.

no matter where you are, i believe you'll find these people or whatever.

i believe my boyfriend is my soulmate. we were put here to find eachother and we did. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/hug.gif thank goodness for the internet! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif and TRF. and randy, celli, for making me sign up to another forum. i was already a member of Eidos and TR.be and randy suggested i joined another forum. i was really hesitant at first saying how am i going to juggle being a member of 3 forums? [i know stupid lol] but anywho i joined with his persuasion. about maybe almost 2 months after i joined this member PMs me and asked me if i had msn messenger and we got to talking outside the forums, which i do with other members too. but this one member and myself hit it off right off the bat. 1 year, 4 months and 7 days [ not that im counting http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif ] later we are still sooo crazy about eachother since the first couple days we started talking.

so.. yeah.. i believe in fate, fulfilling your destiny and finding your soulmate, etc.

I dont know how to put this, but....there are people on here i was meant to meet, for many reasons. Well mainly two people.

So i think in a way, fate maybe does play a slight role, the way we got talking was un-usual circumstances and therefore one ca only think "how ironic that just happened" if you get me.

So i supose i do believe in fate if you will, and god might i add, but only because of events in my life. Where i have had only god to talk to, so i think even if god isnt real, its life back up for your brain to relay your thoughts to.

I hpe that made sense, i got slightly off topic, he he!

No Sparky, that makes sense to me (I am also saying this while taking medication that is making my brain mush http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/whistle.gif )

While I thought my ex husband was my soulmate (or I would not have married him) I always had this feeling (but I was young and in love), and the feeling turned out to be true, and when I finally kew it was over, I was sad, depressed, angry but I also had acceptance and realized I was getting a second chance!

I am done rambling, I have to head off to the hospital http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yuck.gif Asthma is being a PITA and my puffers are empty, so I am off to put Canada's wonderful health care system to good use http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif

Definitely, since it has happened to me many times, I do believe in it now.
