At first I thought Cockroach but it's not matching up to the images online (Ive never ever seen one IRL.)

:S

It's dead.

A beheaded cockchafer perhaps?

Hmm maybe, it's solid black on the back though and the pics of Cockchafers are like brown..

Wheres its head :|

Can you take a better picture (like the 3rd one only more visible)? It would be way easier for me to check it, we had Zoology last year and maybe I can figure it out. :) The head is missing though?

It's out in the garden now :( and I ain't going back out in that snow to get it lmao.

I did look though and it does appear to have no head, theres just smush where it's head would be.

Oooh I see, too bad. :( With the head it would be so much easier. :vlol: I will check some books though and I will let you know if I can find anything. :D

I thought you meant a game bug. I wasn't expecting that. Very groos, btw. :p

Looks like a cocoon from Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Maybe you are being invaded by tiny aliens. :yik: Sleep tight.

Hi
I am an agricultural engineer and happen to know much about insects
From the look of it,i think it is a bug type insect...
my guess is the harlequin bug

But i have some questions:

Whee was it? vegetables or ornamentals?

And it looks like that without any antenna or legs, bcz if this is the normal alive image of it as in the pics, then my answer is no...

the image is not very clear... it appears frozen to me :p

It must have legs...

My guess goes for either bug or beetle

Maybe you've discovered a new species.

Harlequin bug has coloured elytra, those are single-toned. This one is closer to cockchafer or bark beetle in its nature IMO.

He was in our dogs water bowl :|.

We keep them outside sometimes and whoever had last done it hadn't bought their water bowl in (dw they do have one inside as well lol)...this thing was floating headless in the water.

It does have legs. They're all curled up..it's frozen.

Very cool. :tmb:

Definitely a beetle, and I think it's head is gone. Probably a bird.

It's got the striated wings of a bess beetle, but the color and shape seem wrong. There's so many thousands of things it could be though, and it's incomplete.

Is it going to be an unsolved mystery :(?

Of course not:hug:! An alien/robot will find it after another 5000 years and then someone will know what it is:p

Yup, pretty sure it is a beetle bug but deformed....
lost few body parts that's why it is a bit difficult to identify:p
