View Full Version : What do you hope is invented?

Of all the stuff you've seen in TV shows, movies and computer games what stuff would you like to see invented in real life?

This might be far fetched to some but i wouldn't mind seeing some of the stuff from star trek invented replicators for food would cut down on cooking time, Transporters go from point a to point b in 3 seconds (would also make funerals a lot easier coffins are heavy) and holodecks you could create whatever you like in your own home

We could start small... Constitution y'know :p Bah just go the Russians, they probably don't even know where all of their nukes are, and since the US obviously doesn't want to continue it's space program (thanks NObama :D) they'd be the ones to go to :p

I think that if they want to travel into deep space should be more research on magnetism, structural polarity, and this kind of things.
I think they travel, now, like a stone thrown by a child.

My idea is something like magnetic trains in Japan, but in space.

The holodeck and replicators seem feasible things to me under certain restrictions, for now. :)

Well, Nova is only planetary research vessel. Galaxy is meant for defensive and exploration. Also Intrepid. Defiant is warship and escort so Galaxy and Defiant would be most useful with Intrepid. But Nova is important too. (Enterprise-E were at first Nova.) Sovereign is 24-deck, that's good size, eh? It replaces Intrepid IMO. But Intrepid is more nicer.

I love si-fi and always thought that the day we get a Captain Kirk flip open communicator (mobile phone), that I would be first to buy one.

Yet, fear of technology dangers has stopped me buying one till only four years ago, until i could get a really good speaker phone, where I can hold the mobile phone at arms length and communicate, while keeping those nasty microwaves away from my head ;)

You see fear is a factor that I never considered with modern technology, where profit can overide possible hidden dangers.

Now we come to futuristic technoloy like matter transporters, now this would revolusionise transport on Earth. Chicago one minute, and Paris the next. Brilliant ! but........

There are many si-fi books and films that use matter transporters and most talk about the benifits, but some show the dangers, like the film 'the fly' where an insect gets in with a human on the transporter and you get mutation.

Even worse you see transporter malfunctions in star trek series, where you get person duplicates, body disfigurement, also being put of phase with the material world. Argh !

So I for one will be about the last person to use a matter transporter, if it ever invented in our lifetimes :D

Alpharaider47
19-11-10, 23:04
^^ It's the danger that makes it exciting :p Think about this- if you ever get on a plane, there's a chance it will crash or explode or plenty of other things will happen. When you walk around, you could die doing w/e, so just live! :p

Tuvix really is a rare spawn. But the idea, bring together two very different personalities like Nilix and Tuvok is good.
Nilix is not one of my favorite characters, but he gets better during the series. Like everyone else.
At the end, it creates a very interesting problem with the fate of Tuvix and he dissapears .

There is another interesting invention in the movie Demolition Man.
