I need help identifying a so called Bronx accent/speech style. Can anybody suggest some movies or TV shows where I can see characters speaking it?

You can discuss other accents in this thread if you like, I didn't want to make it too pointless. :pi:

Ah, thanks, that was really helpful! :tmb: Actually there's a character in the TV show "Band of Brothers" who talks exactly like that, so now that I know it's Bronx accent, I can get more familiar with it in normal speech.

"A Bronx Tale" would be useful if you want to hear Italian/American accents. Decent film as well.

I was born in southern New Jersey, so I don't quite have the typical accent to speak for, but I always found it amusing as well. :p

For the record, the whole "Joisey" thing is stupid. New Yorkers definitely have an accent in saying "Jorsey" or something similar, but I have never once heard anyone from New Jersey say "Joisey" as part of their normal accent. It's more of an influence on words like "off" and and "car."

That video is so great. I've always wondered what kind of accent I have. It's a not a New York one though.

My accent is something like, Jared Leto and Hayley Williams's accent.

LOL.

Perhaps watching Raging Bull will help. One of Jake LaMotta's nicknames was Bronx Bull, so...

It's unbelievable that I haven't watched this film yet, specially being a Scorcese fan. I'm so ashamed. :pi: Will certainly do.

Don't use this. Not everyone talks like that.

"Quinn" from the Showtime series Dexter has an accent. It's not exaggerated, but definitely there.

These words make the accent most obvious: talk, coffee, hotdog.

I had a costumer with that accent come buy a laptop today. Her accent was pretty cool - very badass sounding. :D
