It keeps going to a black screen and i did the system check and it says that the hard drive is corrupted :(
Is there anyway to save all of my information? Or would i have to buy a new one and replay everything?
You transfer your saves onto an external harddrive, but it won't work for all games.

really? how would I do it? plug it in and go where?
i dont know if you can transfer saves to a flash drive; ive never tried it though.
but im assuming you would need to make a folder titled something specific, i just dont know what.

Oh, phew, all you have to do is replace the harddrive then. You can find some cheap ones online - depending on the size you want, of course.
I reinstalled a 640gb HDD on my PS3, though there are various differents sizes.
The only requirement is that it needs to be a 2.5 SATA HDDs - a laptop's harddrive.

I don't think your Playstation 3 is dying. When mine went completely dead it gave no warning and 99% for peoples' PS3 consoles that have died, it gives no warning what-so-ever. It won't hurt to back it up (your saves), if you have PSN account, you can synch your trophies and you should be able to keep your work and trophies should your PS3 die. I have had what you've had several times. It's usually just a internet connection error that comes out randomly as a system error or will say the "hardrive is corrupted", which isn't true. If you download anything to your PS3 other than purchases from the PSN store, I recommend you stop immediately. You're hardrive could very well be corrupted from your downloads. This is rare, but possible.
If all else fails, contact Sony. Tell them what's happening and they'll give you instructions per what to do or not to do. HIH! :wve:
