So I decided for a trial by hellfire X_X

Using the Crofty's old tutorial on the forums I was able to extract few things (now that the 3ds max trial is so short, I must dig and convert things like crazy before it ends), especially this one I currently needed:

So yay, I can make my promised fanart for PeepsCanFly!?... Not yet. I can't find proper diffuse maps for weapons! x_x I unpacked countless of .utk files, even tried to extract them with texmod, but they're just not there! XD There are few .tfc archives, but I don't know how to crack them. I know umodel should extract from it while extracting upk's, but there's everything except for the said diffuse maps.

Don't get me wrong. I'm pretty sure my "production" process is screwed up somewhere and my extractions may not work for everyone, so updated tutorial would be still appreciated ;]

It's from GMOD xD I'm converting them because the've got face bones. I have to "buy" the game and extract vehicle modes from it. The Game has UE3 then it's not a problem with extract models.

LOLz surely Xboxes, PS3s and even PC's can't load textures with 4000x4000 of resolution in games.
Game developers work with limited resources, they can't go making everything ultra high quality.

I know that, but you don't need 4000x4000 textures to make it look less plastic and more realistic. I doubt a game like Uncharted has 4kx4k textures. :P

Oh, I hate it when that happens! Maybe you could move some faces slightly (to increase the distance between them), just for the baking, and then use those maps for the final (unedited) model? :o

I don´t know if changing some settings in Blender can solve this issue. :confused:

You have to remove doubles before rendering lightmaps =)
and those small issues also happen to me so... paint them white in Photoshop xD

I use Photoshop to fix the AO map when it happens. It's rare a model that bakes a good AO map that needs no fixing D: a good tool for it is the clone stamp tool just clone a part close to the affected part so it won't look different.

This models have messed up fingers until you set them naturally, and generally aren't the best ones in the game as they show up mostly on enemies. But if that's a model's fault or the conversion, I'm not too skilled to say what is the reason.

Also Ishi has his eyelids split in two, so to control them you need 4 bones instead of two. O_o Can't fix that yet, same, due low experience. Shame. He still presents nicely I think.

Um... Don't get me wrong. I like that people comment on my work & I understand that everyone have different opinion

But it's not like I was doing this mod for a week. I was doing it about one month & finished a week ago. There was SO MUCH revisions during this process and I put so much work to express my personal vision of Lara that I just can't see what else can I do. I just like her the way she is in my mod

Use the feedback to improve on your idea, you don't have to change anything if you don't want, but you can add some of the ideas if you see it could improve your work.

When they are wrong used like on the hand they can even do fake shadows.... however i just thought i'd share this xD I think it looks pretty cool on the No more heroes models^^ (eve if this one's shading is kinda buggy)

huh, you are not first who uses it :D but its great you came here by playing! I know this metod been used to create a fake strokes. I also tried it in XNALara and to my surprise it worked very well. I used a little bit different technic but I've been in love with result...

It's sorta holographic interface, so I guess it shouldn't have reflections, but dull black looks dull. Leaving for later as I learn more about render groups.

Too bad people say that something is strange about her eyes, but they do not tell you what exactly is strange about them. I will tell you. It's the reflection effects, they are mirrored. They should be both on the same side! :)

You have 2 options:

Create 2 separate eyeballs and give them both a different eye texture, one has the normal and the other a flipped one (horizontally of course).
The easier way: flip the UV map of one eyeball only.

If we will be able to use this model with head from "after" image, then I can't stand the time which you will need to release it (whatever how long this time will be ;))

The only VERY LITTLE advice: upper lip is a bit smaller than lower one. She looks great but maybe you should balance their size:)
