On a late fall day, the Terra MODIS instrument captured this spectacularly clear image of the Middle East. It features a range of landscapes - green hills in Turkey; tan, gray, and coral-colored deserts throughout the center, south, and east; the fertile valleys of Iraq; and snowy mountains in Iran. MODIS also detected a few fires, which are marked in bright red.

The image also shows four major bodies of water: in the upper left is the Mediterranean; in the lower left is the Red Sea; in the upper right is the cloud-covered Caspian Sea; and in the lower right is the Persian Gulf. Eleven countries are shown. Clockwise from upper left, they are Turkey, Cyprus, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Israel (plus the Gaza Strip and West Bank), Jordan, and Lebanon.

This true-color Terra MODIS image was acquired on November 3, 2003.

A beautiful image http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
I've been at the very point of the Sinai Peninsula (lower left). The resort is known as Sharm-El-Sheik, it was nice.
