Mystical Ball (http://www.mysticalball.com)

Try it, it really works

And the question is: how? :D

I've seen one of these before and I actually sat down and figured out how it worked. Unfortunately, I don't remember. It's something to do with the sign that's at zero, and multiples of three. But now I want to figure it out again.

Ok, once I got shocked, I did something else. I first hit the ball and got the symbol, then I made the operation and I got the symbol it gave me!!!

Hey!!! This is not fair!! The symbols change every time you "Try again". I noticed when I decided to use the same number :D It has to do with the number 18 http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif Good one!! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif

A few more guesses and then I'll tell you how it works http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif You're both on a good track.

Hmmm, someone had posted a link to a similar puzzle months ago. And I remember we almost figured out how it works. Now if only I could remember who made that thread and when... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/privateeye.gif

The mistery has to be unveiled http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/privateeye.gif

Sorry peeps, I've seen this before, and I know how this works.

Any, and I mean ANY number, minus the sum of its digits will give another number that's a multiple of 9. So, you always look in the chart for a number that's a mult. of 9.

And, look at the number 59. The sign that appears here always appears on the 'mystical ball'.

Wow, that was kind of freaky for a minut :D But we got it figured out before I looked at these notes http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

It was fun trying to figure out how it knew.... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/privateeye.gif

...a voice from the darkness.....

Cat', this is simply AMAZING... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yikes.gif Yeah, the symbols change before every new try... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

It remembers me for a TV-show what I saw many years ago: it was a show by David Copperfield (You know, the famous illusionist), and He also presented a "mind reader" on the TV-screen, just like this. I tried that, and it worked fine too... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Edit: I've just read CrazyGuy's post, and now it doesn't seem to be so amazing, LOL! But it's still interesting... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

You were supposed to take a 2-digit number, then subtract from it the sum of its digits. For an example 68-(6+8)=54. And it ALWAYS gives you the correct sign because that's how the algorythm works. It's got nothing to do with mind reading really, it's just that when you subtract from a 2-digit number the sum of its digits, the result is always divisible by 9 (watch closely and you'll see that all numbers divisible by 9 have the same sign).

You had to select one, and then You had to do some steps (counting from what You selected, and so on) to get "Your answer"..and then Mr. Copperfield found out Your answer. And I think, I also remember for the mysterious number, "9" too... But that's all, I can't remember more, unfortunately..it was relatively long time ago... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/redface.gif Perhaps we can find some details on some David Copperfield FanSites, LOL! :D

Nicky, thankies for the new LINK! http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif I've checked that too, and I have to tell You that I'm a mind reader too. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/mischievous.gif 'Cause I always know what the webpage will show! Like "59" here, "54" there... ;)

What if someone chose a number smaller than 9, say 1?
That was Douge Henning's downfall (or was it Harry Blackstone?).
He had playing cards displayed on the screen, and like all good card counters, he successfully did that trick with the home audience until some smart-alick challenged him after the show.
He was put on his live broadcast, and the trick was exposed, which everyone but 8 year olds and below knew anyway.

BTW, that man was booed off the stage when he was irritating Henning's lung cancer.
