View Full Version : Help: Issues with initializing

So recently I've gotten deeper into mesh editing, but I've run into trouble.
The plan was to take a model, the lara casual, and delete every mesh except for the head. Then I sewed the vertexs at the bottom of the neck together to make a head model. I checked all the textures and render groups, and everything was fine. But upon opening the head in XNALara, I got the message "Cannot Initialize Model ____".
I seem to get this message every time I edit a pre-made object. The notification is pretty vague, so I don't know how to fix it.

How did you export the edited mesh? mesh.ascii or .mesh?

And also, did you rename the .mesh file to generic_item?
If the filename wasn't correct the error message would be "Cannot found any generic_item in this folder" Or something like this, your error mostly as rexil said could be because you exported the .mesh.ascii directly to .mesh which is not good ofc.
Could you give us more details? Did you converted the mesh.ascii? How did you exported it? Did you edited the mesh.ascii file before converting if it's the case?

I exported the mesh from Blender as a .mesh.ascii, then converted it to a .mesh bin. And no, I named it after the respective model I copied it from i.e.
Lara_Casual.mesh
There's the mistake, you need to left it as is it, generic_item.mesh

Thankfully it worked, I tried this before, but turns out I was naming it generic_object to fix it instead. :P Silliest mistakes cause the biggest trouble
Windows of opportunity open! Such a quick response! Cannot thank you enough, guys :)
