So yesterday I practiced realistic style in zbrush, and this is the result.
I'm so happy with those details that can be achieved in zbrush!

I finally finished her textures, posed her with Biped. I changed her boots, the old one is weird to me, I wasn't happy with it.
I still need to make weapon for her, and probably teeth, I wish I know how to make her express in animated.
I use bones to give the movement for her skirt, I animated it manuall, the result is fine to me.

So I decide to call her the girl from tomorrow, and named Tamara, the idea is from my friend, Tamara / tomorrow.

Just made her body tonight.
Didnt really try to fit any real woman's proportion, just make it in the way I like.
But I dont know how to make her breast. I guess I got used to Lara's unrealistic huge breast, now I dont know how to make breast natural.

I'm making a 3d model, I tried to make it with FF style. It doesn't like FF style in the end, but I think I'm happy with the result.

Hello, everyone.

I'm just having fun with 3d modeling, I made outfits for TRLE, but now I want to learn more about 3d modeling than just making outfit for TRLE. I use Meta to create my model. This is a 3d model render of my sister made by me. I'm trying to create head mesh with real 3d eyes and mouth, I never tried that before because of when I make outfit for TRLE, I dont make eyes & mouth in 3d, it cant move in TRLE anyway. I'm also trying to make her hair looks more natural. I think the result is fine, because of Meta doesn't support normal map, I only use UVmap, I use 3 layers for hair, also 3 textures (two with alpha texture) I wondering how to render bump texture in Meta...
The neck isn't done tho. I didnt make texture for neck yet.

Digging the render. What size are the textures?

Additional angles wouldn't hurt though.

This is the texture. original one is 1000*700
I took photo of my sister and make them as skin texture.
For hair texture, I use same texture but with two different alpha texture to create "mess hair" feeling.

here is different angle render.

Expected the texture to be larger, honestly - it does translate nicely. I assume the ponytail comes from the same tex? Neat trick with alphas.
Kinda weird that part of her hair at the top is not mirrored like the rest of the face - intended?

And, most of all, what's the purpose - still renders or actual models to be used in some active environment?

Sorry for bumping

I'm learning 3ds MAx and Maya now. This is my first homework for 3ds Max class.
The first week, teacher asked us to create character only using box, sphere, cylinder, torus, cone, geosphere, tube, pyramid, plane with FFD box.

The homework was Angry Bird but I thought maybe I can challenge it a little! I tried to create Astro Boy, the hardest part was his head(face and hairline) and hands.

I cant wait to learn more!

I've learned how to set pivot and link objects yesterday. I just tried to make animation only by linking object and set pivot. So I have to make sphere joints. but he's a robot, I think it make sense with sphere joints on his arms and hands.

Wow great job! I love the Astro Boy render, it's so cool!

Po Yu

I'm working on my own character today. I think she should be cute yet abit cool. that's why I gave her short hair. Originally I thought she will use sword or dagger on right hand and pistol on left hand. But who will use sword when he got a pistol on loaded? I think I probably change it to bow and dagger in the end...but I really like the idea with one pistol.
She is wearing a jumper inside then a vest(Jacket?)

http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd371/poyu1021/cloth1.jpg
At my frist sketch it was a real jacket, but I found it's too cool and abit boring. At the first idea, she was a robot kind girl with serial number on her shoulder. with long gloves to cover her mechanical arms and hand. And the main colors are black/gray/white and blue fluorescence. Her hair should be white blond.
But I changed that idea, now she become more girlish.

The end of jacket in the back wasnt that long at the beginning. Originally it looks like a short cute dress from the back. but I thought it might be cooler in action with longer jacket.

I've tried light color for hair, and red, brown. then I found the blue I'm using now. I think it give her more than just boring brownish. and interesting.
I am not sure about the high-heels. and the boots looks boring to me.
Tho, I also like red hair version, that color makes her like a girl from future.

Do you think longer jacket is better or the short jacket?
After I finish model, I'll start to texture it.

Yeah, I was trying to make something inspired by FF! But I never played FF. I can only guess what the style is from that game.

I like the blue hair, too. But some people prefer red hair. I think both is fine, it's hard to make choice.
Now I am doing retopo on the body/face again, because the first model was with mesh smooth. it used too many polygon at place that doesn't make affect.
That means I have to give up the model I've made, I hope I'll make it less polygon and close to game 3d model!

Bump up!:jmp:
Hello Everyone, haven't been here for a while.
I started working for an online game company since 2012. I did low polygon models for 5 years(Thanks for TRLE I knew how to keep polygon low. lol) And now we finally starting with zbrush, I'm lucky to have this chance to learn zbrush at work.
I just finished training at work and wanted to practice more beside work.
This is my very first personal zbrush work. And I hope I can finish her one day.
I didn't have concept drawing before I start. At the beginning the idea was just making an anime inspired character with details.
So I made this face. I like the result, but I guess it became a mix style of some online games I played before.
https://orig00.deviantart.net/f92e/f/2017/346/4/6/anime_girl_by_po_yu-dbwikhy.jpg

Also tried to give her 3d eyelashes
https://orig00.deviantart.net/af07/f/2017/348/a/7/3d_girl_head_by_po_yu-dbwpkrc.jpg

After finishing the body proportion I started to play with the dress on her.
Still don't have a full concept drawing of this idea but just see how it goes.
I haven't finish the back so there is no pic of back. Which is incorrect in progress, I should finish the outline first then start with details. However I couldn't stand with the plain design so wanted to add some details and see how it would looks like.
https://orig00.deviantart.net/a662/f/2017/355/2/2/little_details_on_dress_by_po_yu-dbxdqyx.jpg

And I haven't come up with the color idea. tried few but didn't like it.:confused:

Oh cool! I'm not able to make already a perfect anatomy at the first attempts, like yours. :o

For the colors, I suggest some basic fashion rules to choose them...
1) Use 3 colors: define 1 main color, define a similar color as "support" for it with a slightly different tone, and define a third color that is completely different.
Like, don't use: pink-blue-white, but use pink-red-white, or pink-purple-white, or even white-grey-pink, ecc. Find out a way to give them a proper quantity on the figure, remembering that the strongest one should be used for details only, or little parts, and don't use all the 3 colors with the same quantity.
You can also use more colors but be careful. :D
2) Match the color armoniously, by creating a dynamic. At first sight I see that something pink is missing on the bottom, to stay balanced with the hair/eyes. Shoes, or socks, or the border of the skirt with the flowers + the stitches of the corset, should be pink like the hair. Or also a little pink ribbon on the shoes, why not. Something that pulls down the pink, that is all concentrated on the top of the figure.

Thank you for the color suggestions! I tried to give her with one main color and similar colors but still not happy with that. when it's just black and white it looks okay but when I tried other colors I couldn't get it right.

After the training, I joined new team now and worked on few outfits and character, now I'm working on Default faces for player characters.
I'm still struggling with that since out style haven't fully settled down.

It won't be realistic. but I think I need to learn more about anatomy, never real study that when I was at school. Also need to practice more about art of observation.

so I decided to do another practice last night, try to catch the imagine of a real person.

It's difficult. because it's real person so the standard is clear. And it really forced me to look at how poor I'm at observation and reproduction since now with digital tool it's so easy to adjust the proportion, scale, don't need to made it right at the first stroke.( I admire those people who can draw with traditional tools.)

It took longer than I expected, I spent first 6 hours from scratch and manipulate. At the beginning she has no facial expression and I was lost. looked at it too long and couldn't tell if she looks like her or not. Had to take 1 hour break and back to her again. after a break I decided to gave her that smile and hopefully it sort of gives her the imagine of that real person. So totally I spent around 7 hours I guess. The break was important, I saw more features that I missed at beginning.

And now I see one of my problem is I can't stand with bump and sharpen line, I always tend to make it as smooth as I could, I guess it's because I'm afraid of people consider it's not polished...but in real world that's normal and it's the details that make it more realistic. so I need to get used to it and try to let it go.

Sorry for bumping up the thread.
Today I looked at her again and realized she is not like Emma Watson at all...
Yesterday I was too focused on details and Hair, forgot to check the face itself. And I've watched it too long, can't tell the difference.
So I decided to modify the face again today.
Also moved her hair down a little bit more.
I think this is the age of Emma I wanted to make at first time.
I think the this angle looks like her for now.

Sorry for bumping up the thread.
Today I looked at her again and realized she is not like Emma Watson at all...

Since you're a perfectionist:

Emma's face is slightly more slender. Emma's eyes are smaller and more almond shaped, eyelids are a little more hooded, her eyebrows are also lower/closer to her eyes (the eyebrow on the right should be a little thicker. her nose is a little more slender and shaped slightly differently. Her cupid's bow is smaller/shorter. Her lips should be just a little less wide.

I overlayed/shifted back and forth between opacity on these two images over your front facing render to reach these conclusions.
