Anyone else having issues with google NOT giving you what you're looking for?

My nephew got bit by a bug in the pool so i typed in "water bug black and white head" and instead of photos of bugs I got tshirts and a bunch of crap that looked like ads.

I used Bing and in the first two rows found what I was looking for.

Anyone else finding that Google is less and less helpful?

Google can be so-so. Sometimes being excellent but some searches are completely fruitless. Try rephrasing what you're looking for, you might get some success with that. :)

Is there not a way of putting 'water bug black and white head (not tshirts)' into a search engine, because that would help by reducing the unwanted.

Having a not or exclude fuction would definately help.

The biggest issue I have with results in Google is that a lot of times they're super old, to the point that they're useless.

I don't use Google much anymore (if at all). In my experience Bing is better at filtering out the crap so that what I need is on the first page of results :)

Turn on SafeSearch, then. :p

Also, it helps to add "render" to the search.

Google FTW. For the most part, I just use it to find random/funny images and of course... You know what? I'm sure y'all can live on without knowing that. :D

Even that doesn't work. I've had other innocent searches that ended up in seeing a lot of.... *ehem*. One of them during an ICT lesson. Just as the teacher came around to see how I was doing... :p

I've never had any problems with Google... except from when I'm trying to search pictures which is a real pain in the ass! YouTube's new way of searching for videos is also crap... but that's another story...

We can't use Bing at work. Doing a innocuous search came up with a load of 'would like to meet...' sites including some very naughty ones. Not the best thing on a massive great smartboard and all the kids reading it.
