Just curious: all you Americans: when do you think you will have a definitive answer as to who is to be your next President?

Looks to me like there are going to be horrendous problems at the polling stations.

What's wrong with the old paper ballot? I know it takes a long time to count, but: once it's counted, you can do it again; there is a visible paper trail; spoiled ballots can be eliminated.

Nevada uses electronic ballots, but they have a paper trail.

I think the electronic ballot is an excellent idea, so long as there is a paper trail if needed: I don't think there is such a thing in a lot of the States. (Correct me if I am wrong.)

Many states have changed to electronic, but some are still stuck with punch cards. Even Florida still has punch cards.

I'm amazed that after the punch card fiasco in the 2000 election that some states (especially Florida), still have it.

A lot of people are resisting the change to computers.

There is already controversy in Florida again over missing ballot papers (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/3960679.stm).
