I think TR1 was in 1996, TR2 in 1997, TR3 in 1998, TR4 in 1999 and TRC had different years.

TR5=2000

You sure about that? Apparently parts of TRC are set before TR1.

Wikipedia has the answer to EVERYTHING!!! (even if it's the wrong answer :p)
TR1 to TR3 are set on the release time, TR4 starts with young Lara (1980s) then present time and TR5 has episodes from many different years.

^ That's when the games came out. Greenapple asked the in-game years.

I mean Winston, Father Patrick, Von Croy and the other guy they were all set in 2000 and considering that the levels are retelling stories its mostly based in 2000. But as far as I know the Levels are set in different years.
Rome=1995 or earlier
Russian Base= Not known
Back Isle= To lazy to figure out
VCI=1995 or earlier

Would VCI really be that early???

Black Isle happened when Lara were 16, I think, so 2000-1984=16.
I think personally, Black Isle happened somewhere 1984-1985.

I swear I heard somewhere that Rome in TRC was set between Tomb Raider I and II and the Russian Base levels set in between II and III.

The Russian base 1996-97

AoD - 2003

Tomb Raider: Anniversary would suggest that the orginal Tomb Raider took place in 1996. Aside from that all these answers are merely assumptions based on what years the games was released in.

Timelines are not my strong point >_<
they created stories which came before this, then that happened, 2 years later etc :P

Aren't there soviet officers in the russian levels? So one would asssume those are set before 1991.

yes because in TR3 Lara has the iris.

Not that it matters to anyone else other than me ( :p ), I always ignore the generally accepted timeline of the TR series (even if it goes against the order of the games). For me:
Teen Lara first, obviously.
TR1/Anni/TR5 Rome: Laras first really big adventure, and she's slightly unexperienced.
L/U: Slightly more experienced now, but still young, having gained more confidence she sets out to solve the more personal issues in her life.
TR5 VCI and Russia: More experienced again, now 'playing for sport'.
LR/AoD: Again, more experienced, coming up against a huge challenge and a near death and traumatic experience.
Finally TR2 and after that TR3: Lara at the height of her abilty. Older, and more confident. Highly experienced from her past adventures, she's at the top her her game.
:D

According to the Core Design book 'The Official Tomb Raider Files' this is Lara's timeline of adventures (TR1 through TR5)

Tomb Raider Chronicles: The Black Isle
Accompanied by Father Patrick, young Lara must solve the island's spooky mysteries.

Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation - Cambodia
The flashback training adventure with Werner Von Croy is Lara's first real tomb raiding experience; and one that will come back to haunt Lara and Von Croy in later life...

Tomb Raider Chronicles: Rome
Lara's first solo adventure in the streets, coliseum and catacombs of this ancient city in search of the elusive Philosophers Stone.

Tomb Raider (and Unfinished Business)
Lara's quest for the mythical Atlantean Scion was the first Tomb Raider adventure to be released.

Tomb Raider Chronicles: Russian Base
Lara goes to the extreme to reach this relic and learns a valuable lesson in the process.

Tomb Raider II: Dagger of Xian (and Golden Mask)
Lara explores locations such as China, Tibet, Venice and the depths of a sunken liner before confronting the terrifying power of the Xian Dagger.

Tomb Raider III: Adventures of Lara Croft (and Lost Artifact)
The strange properties of artifacts carved from the heart of an ancient meteorite must be solved in this globetrotting extravaganza!

Tomb Raider Chronicles: Tower Block
Von Croy's HQ features state-of-the-art security so Lara has her work cut out sneaking about the sky-scraper to retrieve the Iris.

Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation - Egypt
The fourth Tomb Raider... an epic adventure set entirely in Egypt amidst ancient curses and supernatural foes. Will Lara escape alive?!

I never knew the Ireland adventure came before Cambodia  And, what do you think about this timeline? Where do the Crystal games fit in through this timeline (if they actually do fit in)?

Taken from this thread (http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?p=4470636#post4470636), which created wide discussion on the authenticity of the book.

This trailer suggests that:

- Ireland events occured in 1979
- Russia events occured in 1984
- Rome events occured in 1989
- VCI events occured in 1995

The birth year on the memorial statue says 1968, so that makes Lara aged 11 in Ireland and 16 in Russia. Hmm...really, Core?

And the order of events in the trailer don't quite tally with the order of events tonyme gave. :pi: Example, according to that book, the VC level happened after TR3, but Lara had the Iris in TR3 and the book has Russoa and Rome in opposite orders.

IKR? Maybe they made a mistake. :p The times for Rome and VCI Tech seem believable though.

Yep, Lara was eleven in the Ireland levels of Chronicles. Nuts, I know, but that's the way it apparently is.

IKR? It makes that shot of her lifting her t-shirt all the more horrifically lurid.

The timeline must be wrong as far as I'm concerned. But even places like Stella have Lara as being eleven in the Ireland levels

The first one is wrong already. :vlol: Lara got her backpack in Cambodia and she has it in Ireland, so that means Cambodia must be before Ireland.

And there's no way she's eleven in Ireland, lol! xD

I personally think it was a mistake with the trailer... after all, it also says she's 16 in Russia, which I don't find believable (she acts and looks like Lara in The Last Revelation XD).

I personally think the storytellers at Core don't know the actual timeline themselves, it was rather random...

They probibly wrote Ireland with lara being much younger (like 11) as her lines and behaviour seem very innocent. But with the rush to make TRC they didnt have time to make a new model and animate her. So they recycled the Cambodia one.

I believe Ireland was set in 1984 after the Cambodia adventure. She has the backpack she found in Cambodia. And eleven-years girl doesn't look as Lara look like. I now that in trailer it was said that it was in her eleven (1979 if I count well) but I don't think it's possible. Maybe it was just a mistake made by Core.
