Cant wait, loved the first one.

I recently saw the original versions of the films and they were dull. Not scarey, boring and ****py.

Its ending was really shocking... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yikes.gif

I remember, I was quite frustrated for weeks (!) after watching Stephen King's "Shining" (but I also experienced the same with His two other films (that man just knows something, You know): "It" and "Pet Cemetery I.", Zelda rulez, hehe)..I remember, the room #217 shocked and hit me hard for the first time... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yikes.gif

I still haven't seen The Ring yet, but I'm planning it for a long while. Oh, I must admit that I'm planning to watch it alone in dark and in the midnight. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif :D I just have to borrow the film from my Brother-In-Law at last... http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Well like i said b4, here's my review:

this movie is absolutely horrible. it makes no sense. its totally illogical and most of all, NOT scary....at all.

it disregards all the rules and foundation that the first film established. and worst of all, it resorts to cheesy one-liners.

with the first film being so powerful in terms of imagery and symbolism, the second just throws it all out the window.

also be warned that deer play a laughably ridiculous part in the film that will leave you scratching your head.

the acting feels forced and rigid as well.

If anyone has any other questions or comments, let me know.

-Smith

its a shame that they made this movie, it could have been fairly good as the preview suggests, but instead its nothing but a mindless senseless waste of 2 hours.

Well, each to their own, I guess. I still want to see it, anyway. I liked the American version of the first one, although I have to say that the original Japanese version has the best 'feel' and atmosphere. The novel is the best of all. It explains so many things that I never got from the film versions. I would definitely recommend it!

As far as I know, there are 3 Japanese movies. A friend, who has seen all three, told me that the first American movie is the first Japanese and half of the second, and the second American movie is half of the second and a part of the third. So, I'm not sure what the American people have in mind about their third movie. 'Cause if they are going to add\ remove parts or make a different ending, this wouldn't be nice.

Still, I haven't seen the second (american) movie and I really want to!! The first was very nice!

croft28
22-03-05, 23:33
Actually, the second american Ring film is in no way connected to the second Japanese one. At all http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Actually there are three books (Ring, Spiral and Loop) and four Japanese movies (Ring, Rasen/Spiral, Ring 2 and Ring 0). The first two are based on the books, Ring 2 is an "alternative" sequel for those who felt Rasen was too much science and so not spectacular enough, and Ring 0 is the story of Sadako while she was still a living girl.

Oooookay... I actually saw this, and I liked it. I hadn't seen the first one (which I did right afterwards), but I liked it.

The special effects are out of this world, just quietly. If you appreciate special effects, see this film. There's one particular scene which blew my mind.
The plot isn't that bad... it answers a lot of unanswered questions from the first film. If you liked the first, go to the second to find out what happened to Samara's mother, where the symbol of the ring came from, and so on. It's actually quite smart. If you are interested in knowing a bit more about the origins of the legend and seeing children possessed, see the film.
Acting's not bad... not bad...
Look, I really liked the film. It was good. So go ahead. I recommend it, and I'm not easily swayed.
