View Full Version : Have you ever met someone famous?
Just wondering if anybody has ever met any famous people? Whether it be an actor/actress, someone from a band?
I got to shake hands with Lou Ferrigno (he played the HULK on the television series). And I've met Tom Wopat at the grocery store of all places. He played Luke Duke from Dukes of Hazard television show.
Hi Ambico http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/wave.gif
I have not met anyone famous but this is a good idea for a thread. It should be interesting to hear what kind of stories people have?
I once saw one of the Big Brother Australia evictees. He was on the same plane as me going from Melbourne to Brisbane. I don't like the big brother "phenomenon" at all so it wasn't very exciting. Everyone sitting around him seemed excited though
The world is full of tools. Marketing must love them.
I met Will Carling way back when he was still the England rugby captain.

I work in the media here in London, doing post-production sound and see famous people all the time.
They're just like you or me really, just with more money!
I even work with the TR voices sometimes...
Not me,but my brother. When the Indiana Pacers came into town to play the Magic(this was during the 2000 season), my brother had a run-in with Reggie Miller at the Namco arcade he worked at.
He and Reggie played a game of NBA Jam, my brother beat him and he gave my brother a $2 bill and signed it with his signature.
Well I don't know if anybody remembers this guy. His name is Gordon Jackson from 'the Profesionals'. When I was in high school about 20+ years ago he came down there, can't remember 'why' but it was exciting anyway. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Tom Cruise http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Bruce Willis at Hard Rock Cafe in London.
biiiiiig spider in my toilet http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/jumper.gif REALY!
He is very famous becouse he killed more people than Osama Bin Laden. ( bytheway, i wish that he allready burn in a hell http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/mischievous.gif )
Ted Raimi at the Hotel I work at. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/privateeye.gif Real Nice guy. :D

Melonie Tomb Raider
Well, besides NFL players no I haven't. Not that I can remember. Well, I have met an actor before but I don't remember who he was and he wasn't really popular in whatever movie he played in.
Kevin Spacey, Judi Dench, Julianne Moore and Cate Blanchett, I got to vist the set when they were in town filming The Shipping News, this was in Canada, a few years ago! Very nice people!
Not that I have any memory but, John Wayne was in Kenya filming when my brother literally ran into him. At which point, apparently, JW bent down and picked him up. Brother would have been about 4 at the time. He had a tantrum at a total stranger picking him up, mother nearly brollied him (JW) until she recognised him. Then she nearly fainted. Apparently caused great amusement all round.
Ive met a few Australian stars that some of you might or might not know...
ive met Shane Warne (Australian Cricketer), Andrew Gaze (Australian Basketballer - also won a NBA championship with the Spurs) and i have a strong relationship with the Bob Jane Family (Bob, Bill, Kim, Rodney, Karen...) - Bob Jane was a great race car driver and currently owns the largest tyre store in Australia. Kim Jane is a NASCAR champion in Australia. through the Janes' ive also met the late Barry Sheen (world motorcycle champion - and nicest guy), and Wayne Gardner (World Motorcycle Champion - after Barry)...
gee ive been busy... - most will say *pft*... who are those guys? - but in Australia most these guys are pretty big...
when im famous (wink wink) ou can all come visit me okay - then post here once more... hehehe... hope that made you all smile http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
Yea, Bill Murray, and got his autograph, too. And I have a bunch of autographs from hockey players, but I don't actually know who they are...
Some well(ish)known people.
The drummer with The English Light Orchestra/The Move lived at the top of our road. One of my school teachers played rugby for England. A couple of kids in my school were in a punk band from 76/7. Called 'The Prefects'. Their 'best know song was 'The Bristol Road Leads to Dachau'. Which was obvious nonsense - the A38 quite clearly goes to Bristol. Jeff Astle, the West Bromwich Albion striker who lost the world cup for England in 1970!
One of my college teachers wrote songs with Ian Dury (of Blockheads fame). I met Rat Scabies of the early punk group 'The Damned'. I worked for Bob Geldof and met Midge Ure, Roger Daltry, Elvis Costello, Eric Clapton, Paula Yates, Mick Jagger, Jerry Hall, Marie Helvin etc:.
I didn't 'know' most of the above, only met them.
Bob Hopskins,Roger Daltrey(The Who), Jonathan Dimbleby(political journalist) all through work there are others but I don't want to name drop!
I've met several NASCAR drivers and one of the American Idol (1st season) finalists, RJ Helton...
I didn't meet Brad Pitt but his camera man did some work for me for a show that I was on, that was pretty cool.
when i was younger i was at a boyzone concert and my bottle fell down my seat and i went to grab it my arm got stuck in the seat and at the end they all came out to see if i was alright the thing is i never knew how they found out that my arm got stuck in the chair.????????????? http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/redface.gif
I've spoken to most people in Core Design, i guess they're kinda famous for givin us TR. http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
I met David Hasselhoff (Knight Rider) when i was 10 years old i think.
He visited South Africa and i sat in his car.
I also know another actress from All My Children who plays Gillian Andrashi. She's Esta Terblanche and she's my Cousin.

Actually yes, I've met someone, but he's not universally known. He is a very popular and very talented singer/composer here in Greece, who also happens to be from my home island too http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/smile.gif In fact, that's where I met him, at a concert in my island.

My horse did not win :(
I saw Sophie Thalman (Miss France 1998) in the subway a few years ago. She didn't even throw a look at me -- perhaps because she was 7 inches taller than I am.
I also passed Laetitia Casta not far from where I live, she must have seen how stunned I was for a couple microseconds and she gave me back a simple yet charming smile. I was never the same thereafter -- that is, until I bumped into a dustbin a few seconds later.
lol Kam :D

Ο Παντελής Θαλασσινός (Pandelis Thalassinos)
Nicky, if I'm not wrong, Pandelis Thalassinos has to do something with Paros or not?? 'Cause I have spent many summers at Paros and the people there love him.

When Star Trek fandom was young, wonderful and organized by the fans themselves (that was the eighties in Germany, the seventies in the US) I met almost all the stars from the original Star Trek series personally which wasn't too unusual then.
In 1980 f.e. I spent a week with Bjo Trimble and an afternoon with George Takei (Sulu)in Los Angeles.
The point about this wasn't being with famous people, but with good people who are great company.
Bjo Trimble organized the "self-help" letter - campaign when Paramount http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yuck.gif cancelled the production of the series after two seasons.
Around a million letters were written to Paramount and it was asked to make them indistinguishable from business letters. Paramount http://www.tombraiderforums.com/images/smilies/yuck.gif had to give up, but did everything to make it "go bad".
Bad script-writers etc.
Personally I think the episode "Balance of Terror" was so good it balances out the bad episodes in that season.
Ok, there is a moral again.
At least TRY to improve things in your own places.
Don't hide from things and fight if you must or else the problems will come home to roost in the long run!

I met Alyson Hannigan and Jennifer Love Hewitt...
...in my dreams, that is.
Yeah, those two, along with Bruce Willis and Mathew Good are the only famous people I would absolutely love to meet (especially Hewitt!). :D
