Hi, on Tumblr you can make your own blog, it's cool. You may also want to create extra pages for that blog, which can be linked to from the homepage of your blog.

Can you post posts on these extra pages? Or can they only have one body of text? If you can post actual consecutive posts on these extra pages, may I ask how?

Pleeease. :(

I have no idea. I don't use Tumblr, I barely even know what it is (like Facebook) :wve:

I never tried using pages in tumblr, but does it give you an option to link the page to a URL? If so you could tag the posts you want to be shown in that page with an specific tag and link the page to the search URL of that tag, which you can get by typing it in the search box. These posts would still show up in the front page though.

My brain hurts...

So I change the URL of the tumblr page to whatever the URL is when I search the name of the tag I tag the post with?

I don't think I've seen what you've described. Could you give an example?

Go to customize your appearance (lol), and go to the menu for "Pages" and you can make pages. :/

If I knew what you were asking I'd be able to help you, but I'm not sure I'm understanding your question. Could you rephrase it?

When you create a Tumblr, there is an option to add extra pages to your blog (webpages). But I don't know if or how I can make my posts go to specific (and individual) pages.

I know you can make pages with tagged posts. Like if you have posts tagged, for example, with the word "milk", the page will show all the posts you have tagged with that word. I've done it, but I don't remember how exactly...a lot of help I am. :p

So you want to link your extra page, to your home page? It gives you an option to do that when you create it.

Here's my tumblr (http://47-47.tumblr.com/). I made an example. I created a page called blog posts, and I clicked the option to link it. So now, if you look in the description of my blog, there's a link to it.

^I know how to do that, but I want to make my posts show up on those pages. :/

Oh, well than you don't need to make a new page for that, you can copy this code into your description or into your theme, if you know how to:
<a href="URL">TITLE</a>

So, if you see on my Tumblr page, I have a link to personal posts. So I copied that code into my theme, and it looks like this <a href="/tagged/personal">Personal</a>. So then, whenever I put the word "personal" as a tag in a post, when I click that link, all personal posts will show up there.

I hope that made sense :/

So if I want my tag to be "meaning", it should look like this in my description?

<a href="/tagged/meaning">Meaning</a>

?

Also, in order to tag the word, does it have to be used in the post?

Here's what one of my tagged pages looks like for things tagged as "gif" in the customization thing:

OK, so what you would do is paste that code into your theme. If you put it in your description, it will look stupid on your blog. So if you want me to help you figure out where it goes in your theme, I can. But you put that code in your theme, and then it should show up on your blog. Then, reblog or create a post, and tag it with the word meaning, like this:
ClICK (http://s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr.com/tumblr_lyhnwi1vAc1qk6tj5o1_1280.png?AWSAccessKeyId =AKIAJ6IHWSU3BX3X7X3Q&Expires=1327807462&Signature=7oPlfCFI%2BoXB42nKyPIXRuiOYUw%3D)
See that little green area on the right? That's where you tag things. So just type the word meaning in there.

Then, when you go to your blog, and click the "Meaning" link, it will bring you to all of your posts tagged with that word:
CLICK (http://s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr.com/tumblr_lyhnwi1vAc1qk6tj5o2_1280.png?AWSAccessKeyId =AKIAJ6IHWSU3BX3X7X3Q&Expires=1327807393&Signature=WSwnUf%2FCb%2F9676XRv7WjHPnPJd4%3D)
Understand?

Oh my Gawd, my theme as in all of that code!?

Do I just put it at the top, or something? :/

t-raider26
28-01-12, 02:27
No :p If you copy and paste your theme HTML code, and PM it to me, I'll put your links in for you. Then all you'll have to do is paste it back when you're in customization mode.

larafan25
28-01-12, 02:34
^The code doesn't actually show up in my description though, only a link with the name "meaning".
