GSC has yet again moved to assure fans that work on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is still ongoing.

The Ukranian developer said in a tweet (https://twitter.com/#%21/gscstalker/status/180616452926222337) today: “To answer the multitude of questions we’ve been getting, #Stalker2 is currently in development, yes. However there is no release date yet.”

It was reported (http://www.vg247.com/2011/12/13/gsc-game-world-nothing-is-certain-studio-will-do-its-best-to-continue/) before Christmas that GSC was on the verge of closure, and that staff would be paid until the end of February but that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 had been canned.

However, GSC made a statement (http://www.vg247.com/2012/01/12/gsc-continuing-work-on-s-t-a-l-k-e-r-2/) in mid-January to say work was continuing on the game.

Optimism remained cautious at the time, as GSC spokesperson Oleg Yavorsky said: “We are still in the process of seeking funding to back up the project. We are hopeful things turn out well eventually. The team really wants to see S.T.A.L.K.E.R. continue.”

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is supposedly releasing this year for PC, PS3 and 360.

A first-person shooting role-playing hybrid, the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl was published in 2007 and has since become a cult hit.

Prequel S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky and sequel S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat released in 2008 and 2010 respectively.

Needless to say this game will be in my possession the moment it is available. And their" hybrid" game system is the best thing to come to PC gaming in ages. It should be the standard by now for first person shooting games, anyone that has played Pripyat would agree.

I'm still trying to finish Shadows. :vlol:

All the walking... and my ever full backpack. I want to get 2, and maybe the other 2 - do I need them?

"Trying" to finish the game? What's the holdup? Where are you at?

I think that Shadows of Chernobyl is on balance the best of the bunch, but Pripyat has the system down to a science. Clear Sky was a step backwards in some ways, but it was still better than 95% of the games out there today.

The hold is is me doing side quests and what not. I'll spend time doing them all at one time, and my bag is usually full of crap (I'm a hoarder - you should see my actual computer) so I run slow, and it takes forever to get from place to place. Then, if I get bombarded, I have to spend time kill things, because I'm too slow to run away.

The last time I check, I was at some old abandoned warehouse area, when you go in with a group of men - its where you first get the sniper rifle and I think the spas12. That's all I can offer. It's not that I'm stuck, if just I put forth a lot of effort trying to do everything and I get tired. :vlol:

I never played S.T.A.L.K.E.R., but from what I've seen, it's like an open world FPS with RPG elements?

There's an initial tough learning process, but after that the game is naturally easy. In thinking back to my initiation into the series, I had to forget all about any systems that I may have played and open my mind to the improvements and innovations that this game brings to the table. I recall playing Doom 3 after Pripyat a while back and thinking "My God, such oversimplification!"

And yes, it is an amalgam in some ways, but it's really a fps with quests. And in my opinion this is perfection.

Looks like S.T.A.L.K.E.R has been cancelled.

Please, no. Just....just no. ;___;

I guess it'll be STALKER 2 still, just renamed :p

They'd better follow the STALKER style as I'm cleaning my "Storm" machine-gun :mis:
