I was extremely interested with the first few trailers but watching gameplay videos I am not sure I am sold on it just yet. I am definitely going to give the demo a go though and see if it's something I want.

My friend is more excited about it than I am. xD

It was the OXM gameplay videos that actually sold me to the game at first, and then the 2 hour playthroughs.
There are so many things this game does right, some for the first time ever in any game.
It even has a solid platforming system that lets you grab anything that is reachable. If it also has manual grab then this will finally be the true successor of the classic Tomb Raider gameplay. At least for me.

The gameplay just doesn't too interesting from what I've seen, but I also thought the same when I saw Demons Souls & Dark Souls. I am definitely willing to give the game a chance, but I want to try the demo out first and make sure it's something I am going to be able to enjoy.

Your main character as well as your companion (which you can trade with other online players) are fully customizable with a huge range of options. The red haired character (which i personally hate his look) is just the one Capcom uses for promotional material.

I dismissed this initially when I first saw news and screenshots of it. I didn't think I would like it and honestly thought it would tank. Recently, I've looked into it more and now I can't keep away from it... Can't wait to play it! I'm glad they did streams for it as they went pretty in-depth in showcasing the game and gave a good idea of what it would be like. Night time looks like an incredible experience, likely one to avoid in the long run, but different and thrilling.

Same thing happened to me and yeah i agree with you!I'm thinking on updating the OP with all the unique features this game will have because i'm affraid that most people have missed those and think this is another average RPG or a copy of the Elder Scrolls/Dragon Age games. And Capcom so far is doing a terrible job at marketing the game.Hopefully after April 10th (when the embargo from Captivate will be lifted) we'll get lots more of new information and promotional material.
My only issue with the game so far (from almost every video i've seen) is that there's too much pop-in and it was reported from previewers that the framerate sometimes dips quite low.But probably those videos were from much earlier builds so hopefully the final version will play a bit better.

Some new videos of various classes:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziNUVTOIWM0&feature=BFa&list=PL5C1FCBE8AACCA7E2&lf=plpp_video
Combat reminds me a bit of Demon's Souls(although it's definitely more "actiony")

A playable demo for Dragon’s Dogma is right around the corner. Capcom say that you’ll be able to try the game out on April 24th via Xbox Live in both North America and Europe. The PlayStation Network demo will go up on April 24th as well in North America, and in Europe on April 25th.

You’ll get a party of three pawns for the demo, and two of the game’s character classes to try out in two separate missions: the Fighter (melee specialist focuses on attacks and counterattacks) and the Strider (focuses on speed, uses a bow and daggers).

The demo will let you customize both your character as well as your main pawn, just like the full game. Once you have the full game, you’ll be able to transfer your characters from the demo into it. Dragon’s Dogma is slated for release on May 22nd in North America and May 25th in Europe.
So excited!:D

It's letterboxed on my monitor as well. Considering I'm so used it from previously playing games in SD, it doesn't bother me much.

Played the demo a couple of times yesterday.

Pros:
Combat. It takes some time getting used to it,but once you "get it" it feels satisfying.I also like how you can interact with your pawns. It needs some improvements though.
Graphics. From a technical standpoint the game plays smoothly and i didn't notice any major framerate drops. There's also zero screen tearing.
Art direction.Especially the transition between day and night is amazing. There's some great lightning in the game.I also LOVE that night looks as real night. It gets really dark and if your lantern runs out of oil i guess you're screwed. Also if you turn off the music the game becomes incredibly atmospheric.
Animation.
Platforming.Anything that is reachable is grabable.

Cons:
Pop-in.There's too much of it unfortunately. When you are running very fast the game doesn't load some assets fast enough.
Absence of a Lock-on button.Combat at times gets very confusing so a lock-on button would really help.
The constant mumbling of pawns. It really destroys the atmosphere and when i want to explore the last thing i want is another character telling me after 10 seconds "come Master, this way."Thankfully we'll be able to turn this off in the actual game.
Character creation.I thought it was kinda limited but it doesn't really bother me.Still managed to create the characters i wanted.:pProbably Capcom will want to add more features as DLC.

Still i enjoyed it,can't wait for the actual game.

I just played the demo now. I really enjoyed it.
It actually plays nothing like Skyrim (from the bits I played), it's a lot more of a typical button masher, fast paced RPG. Though to be honest, I do not feel as immersed in the game, the scenery feels like it something to just traverse around, it's hard to describe, but everything in the game just feels small compared to Skyrim. I think it's something to do with the camera angle/ FOV, it's quite far away from the character and the room, it just makes everything feel small.
That's why I prefer to play Skyrim in first person, or at least as close to the character as possible.

Not pointed specifically at you, but why does every medieval inspired RPG have to be compared to Skyrim? I remember Kingdoms of Amalur being bashed on as "It wasn't anything like Skyrim." Well, it wasn't supposed to. :p

What's odd is that the game has multiplayer as one of its core features, yet its not enabled in the demo. Capcom's other titles with a large focus on co-op (Resident Evil 5, Lost Planet 1 and 2) had demos with online support. Smart move that it's being packaged with an RE6 demo. Not many people would plunge into a new IP without something extra in it.

The character creation disappointed me, I thought it was going to be much more expansive.
The gameplay took a little getting used to but once I got used to it I fell in love. The feeling I got when scaling the fur on the lion cross-breed and griffin was a thing of magic.

I'm very excited to get this game! I'm just mad that I don't have enough money now to pre-order and get the RE6 demo...:(

How does multiplayer work in the game?

You can recruit other people main pawns into your team and they can help you with their experience. If someone else's pawn has already completed a quest that you haven't,then by recruiting him he can give you valuable information on how to defeat a particular enemy or how to find an item.Even when you're not playing the game your pawn may gather experience in someone else's game.

However the pawns you recruit don't level up with you.Only your main pawn and character does.
You can also send gift items to another player by equiping them to his pawn and send him back to him.

:yik: I had the time of my life replaying this demo today! :yah:

First of all, I didn't realize that you can prolong the Griffin fight so much that night comes. It really was frightening once night hit and the only light was from my lantern. You could only hear the Griffin landing but you couldn't tell where from... and the light from your lantern doesn't illuminate much surrounding area so when the Griffin pops up on you he's literally in your face!:p Just brilliant! I loved it!

The second thing I had fun with was on the Prologue. Soon after gaining my three pawns, silly Tear decided it would be funny to grab his pawn-friends and kick each one of them off one of the nearby cliffs that makes you instantly die.:p That left Tear alone. I shut off my lantern and just left the natural lighting from the game's torches to lead my way. I went throught the demo on my own, fighting off the enemies with just little ol' me... and then I got to the lion cross-breed. The snake-head and goat seemed to die fairly easily, but the lion gave me a lot of trouble. He ended up killing me when I got his life down to about nothing. I was trying to be flashy and jump on him to finish him off, and in the process I died.:p

Just a fantastic game that gives you a lot of freedom to be creative and have fun. I'm extremely excited for this game!:tmb:

I agree with this post. The naturally very dark nightime almost makes this a completely different game and adds a unique element. This is one of the things that makes you wonder "why other developers haven't thought of doing this before?"Sometimes i play the second quest and i ignore the goblins and griffin completely and i just enjoy the darkness surrounding the characters, listening to griffin's wings in the sky (i have the music turned off) and wondering what will lie ahead in the actual game.I don't even light my lantern.:p

I think it's probably an extra boss.
The Ur-Dragon encounter in Dragon's Dogma will take the form of an asynchronous, ongoing online encounter, where players and their parties from around the world can compete online to take down the Ur-Dragon.

The effect and damage done by of each of these parties will be combined until the creature is defeated. This will take multiple encounters, but all players who inflict damage on the Ur-Dragon will receive great spoils. The person who inflicts the final blow will receive the greatest reward of all, and all slayers of the Ur-Dragon will have their names and play times recorded in the hall of fame for bragging rights.

Meanwhile, offline players will still be able to take on the Ur-Dragon alone, but will receive different rewards at the end.

“No plans” for Dragon’s Dogma on PC, launch trailer released

When Dragon’s Dogma was announced, many in the gaming community felt Capcom missed out on the opportunity to add co-op elements, especially once the pawn system was revealed. However, producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi said the team never considered adding co-op, or multiplayer for that matter, for a couple of reasons.

Speaking with CVG (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/346858/interviews/dragons-dogma-were-not-sure-how-the-world-is-going-to-accept-turn-based-rpgs-from-now-on/?page=3#top_banner), Kobayashi said cooperative play was nixed in order to “focus on the single-player experience while being able to use network functions.”

“A big reason for that is that we wanted to let players make their own character as well as their main pawn,” he said. “So their pawns weren’t actually other people playing, but were ones that you had made and levelled up through the game.”

The pawn system is also the reason why the game isn’t being released on PC, as the team found it “a bit difficult,” considering players will be able to borrow and lend out their pawn to other players. Still, the game could end up on other platforms besides PS3 and Xbox 360, possibly even Wii U providing the first outing does well, according to Kobayashi.

“If people like it, there is definitely a possibility of future installments,” he said. “As far as future consoles are concerned, we’re still not sure yet: we want to focus on the first one and see how well it is accepted around the world first before we can even think about next-gen consoles.”

Dragon’s Dogma releases in North America on May 22 and across Europe on May 25, and for those disappointed in the lack of multiplayer, there’s always the Ur-Dragon challenge (http://www.vg247.com/2012/05/09/ur-dragon-event-mode-announced-for-dragons-dogma/#more-257302) available through PSN and XBL.

There was never any intent for DD to be Monster Hunter for the West. This game was made with a completely different approach. The most prominent similarity is the ability for up to 4 characters to cooperate together, but the way it is played and the world it takes place in are completely different.

Also, this game is an RPG through and through. It’s a single-player action RPG played in parties that are obtained online.

This game has been made by staff with a long list of action games to their credit, but we’ve put our blood, sweat and tears and have challenged ourselves over and over in order to make this a solid RPG.

It also includes a deep story that the player has lots of freedom in building on their own.The player can solve the problems and quests in front of them according to what best interests them. And the story moves forward based on that.So there is this large story arc, but it doesn’t only play out one way.So we look forward to having the players enjoy how they choose to end the quests that they have chosen, what choices they’ve made and what characters they’ve chosen to get involved with. The decisions that you make have a large impact on changing the history of the world. And your own history within the world massively changes as well.

There’s no need for you to play the game making sure to talk to and hear the same conversation from every single character in the town. If it’s vital information, pawns and the occupants of the town will come tell you of their own volition. You are free to talk about whatever you want to whoever you want according to your interests.

Even if your interest in talking to someone is motivated by love the participants of this world will respond to that.

Quests all start and end in various ways. Sometimes they’ll begin when you talk to a resident, sometimes they’ll start without you having to do anything. There are quests posted up on the notice board of the local pub , just as there are quests that you are entrusted with by the duke. You might even end up going on a date with one of the residents you have grown close to.

For battles you can fight the monsters you want to fight and run from those you don’t. If you’re scared to move at night you can sleep at the inn until morning and then proceed.DD’s world has the ability to accept whatever choices you make.If there’s a monster you can’t defeat then you could train your character until he/she is strong enough for it, or you could talk to a pawn that seems like it might have the right information or skills needed to take the monster down and make him/her your ally.Meeting with as many different pawns as possible will enrich and make your adventure more enjoyable.

Are you playing any games where movement through the world such as running or walking is just a chore? Do you feel that the actual adventure, delivering various events and interesting interactions with your allies and people you have come across is much more enjoyable? Do you feel that moving while having to be on the look out for monsters and thieves that could spring up at a moment’s notice is more enjoyable? DD has not skimped out on preparing those realistic and fun aspects of an adventure. Even walking and running from place to place is one of the exciting aspects of this adventure. We designed this game with that in mind. And of course, there are other ways to get around, too.

“What if I was lost in a real fantasy world?” DD takes that situation and reimagines it from zero. Only physical ability is replaced by your action game skills. And even if you’re not good enough at the action aspects you can clear that same difficulty by using your brain, biding your time or with the help of friends. It’s that aspect in particular that sets this game leagues apart from Capcom’s past action titles.

Being able to climb up monsters may be similar to “Shadow of the Colossus”, but we didn’t just take inspiration from that game– that was just one idea that sprung up when we were brainstorming the question, “If there was a real gigantic monster right in front of you, how would you choose to behave?” In “Shadow of the Colossus” you have to climb up those monsters in a fixed sequence in order to defeat them, but in DD this is just one of many possible behaviors that you can select. There is also no specific timing, no specific part of the monster that you have to climb up. You can decide on how to battle based on your knowledge, skill and gut instincts. All of the monsters have been made to be able to react to all of the different challenges and ideas that you choose to employ, in addition to climbing on top of them. We look forward to having you utilize all of the customizeable skills, actions and spells that haven’t been announced yet in any combination you can think up as you battle these monsters. There is more than one way to take them down.

New devblog post:
Today's dev blog comes from designer Yos hitaka Mori. Enjoy!

Throughout the fields and cities of Dragon’s Dogma, you will find all sorts of hidden items. These items, however, are not necessarily effective or of particularly great value on their own. That's where “combination” comes into play. Item combining allows you to put two items together to create new items.

Of course you could combine, for example, medicine with great healing properties with another medicine that cures status aliments, but sometimes performing these types of combinations will actually be necessary to complete certain quests.

Here is what you can create if you get good at combining!

-Find a jar of oil along the road. If you have an “empty flask” and put some of the oil in there, you can acquire a “flask of oil”. And with that, you can increase the amount of time you can use the lantern. This kind of thing will become one of the basics for your adventure.

-You can preserve items that easily rot by putting them in the “airtight flask”. If you are able to put a fish that you caught into the airtight flask while it is still fresh, you will have nothing to worry about.

-The Fighter cannot use magic abilities. However, if you can make a magic book, this will become an effective means of attack against monsters that you cannot attack with mere swords.

-I cannot go into details here, but monsters that are connected to fire drop items that allow you to create explosives.

-If you somehow end up in jail, you might be able to create a key and escape.

-I guess I'm not able to divulge too much, but please look forward to playing the game and trying this feature out. Remember, even if something looks like it is worthless at first sight, if you combine it well, it might become something useful. Don't forget to take the time to explore the game's vast world for items. You never know what you might discover!

Okay, so I gave the demo a spin for a couple of hours last night, played both missions and messed around with the character design. The game is good, the borders are terrible, some of the controls were a little iffy and the camera is unwieldy during fights. They should have a contextual camera that tracks the space between my character and the main enemy, having to manually move the camera to bring an enemy back into shot breaks up the action and completely sucked.

And then...I remembered that Capcom have admitted that the game has on-disc DLC. So, no sale Capcom, sorry. I've had enough of Ubi treating me like an idiot with AC, I don't need you trying to do it too.

The camera takes some using. At first i also thought it was a bit akward but after a couple of times playing the demo i got used to it.But i think the game would definitely benefit from the option of a lock-on button.Still the game is doing so many things right and for the first time in any game (Pawn system, deep combat with inspirations from DMC,climbing on enemies ala SOTC,etc) that i think it deserves a chance.Perhaps you could rent it for a few days?

Also i agree Capcom's dlc strategies are disgusting (they even tried to do some early damage control) but i think that if you like the game even a bit it isn't worthy to miss it just because of the DLC.Personally i'll simply ignore the dlc's existence and enjoy the game for what it is (which is a lot).

The IGN review wasn't great, but I'm still really looking forward to this.:)

Reviews were really mixed so far. Most of them had problems with the pawn system which is quite deep but if you don't invest enough time with it,it might break the game.

I just read something pretty hilarious.
PEGI has rated this game an 18. And BBFC has rated this game a 12. That's a massive difference. Never seen a rating in that range. I have seen a lot of games being given an 18 rating from PEGI, and 15 from the BBFC, but never a 12.
Usually when this happens, I always see the retail version go with the lower rating, but I wonder how it will happen here. I have played Dragon's Dogma, and it's definitely not as violent other 18 rated games, and not even as violent as 15/16 rated games. I wonder which one they will go with.

trlestew
22-05-12, 22:55
Reminds me how all the Persona games are M rated in the US, but have the equivalent of a 12+ rating in Japan.

It's probably variances in moral values. PEGI probably takes more offense to violence in general, while the BBFC only react when the violence is explicit.

It's like the PEGI don't really look deeply the game, and just use a very penalizing checklist/ chart system. The options would be just like:

Violence (tick)
Blood (tick) (automatic 18 - No reference to amount or brutality)

Where as BBFC would rate the game in it's own interpretation, how they think one would react to a game's themes, and they are probably not as robotic about it. Thing's like realism and offensiveness would be taken into account.

I am finding it frustrating at times though - for example, I can have a fairly easy time of it taking down a cyclops, yet there are certain bandits I can't even make a dent in, it's weird.

I'm having problems figuring out what items are better than others when I find/buy things as well, which is annoying - and I take it you have little control over where you put your 'skills' when you level up!?

It's a good game, it's just getting a little frustrating now.

you buy/set skills at the inns, bandits are tough, i stay away and spam fire and electric spells, my ranger pawn does good damage with her bow, most enemies are weak to headshots, if all else fails, knock them down, pick them up and toss them off a cliff

common enemy tips

goblin
use fire spells,

saurian
electric spells, work, ice too, try to get behind and sever their tail for more damage ,

its hard to white text on ps3 browser

Combining things is another thing I find confusing, lol, since there's no kind of guide to what combining certain things will create. I mean, short of going to a tader to enhance armour/weapons, can you just combine things to improve them instead?

Summer_B, Cool screens! You have a full team of women right? Awesome! xD

Thanks, and yeah, all women - not a band of wandering maidens bandits should mess with though, lol. I've got one mage, two fighters and me, a strider.

I'm level 25 now, and combat is finally starting to get a bit easier... I just wish I could find some half decent weapons, nothing I've collected/bought really stands out - not when you look at other similar games anyway. It's a bit annoying some weapons/armour are class restricted tho'.

I have been, but it really doesn't do that much to them against some enemies it seems. I need to find better stuff, and it's getting frustrating that I can't. The merchents rarely seem to get new stuff in, and when they do it's usually for mages or warriors/fighters.

I'm stuck on a couple of quests as well - one is to find a "snakeskin purse", but I can't find the damn thing anywhere... and for another quest I can't find the entrance to the Catacombs - I found a back entrance, but I can't open it.

I haven't done that quest yet, so I guess I can forget about that one for now. I've been trying to stick with the same pawns tbh, not sure why, I think I've just grown to like them, lol.

Combat is starting to get annoying, or at least that it's so... chaotic, and the pawns have an annoying habit of getting in your way, esp. when firing a bow.

What kinds of rare items? I don't think I've found anything yet that would enhance a weapon, 'tho I suppose it depends on what you mean by 'enhance'. Do you just mean the things you need to use at a weaponsmith to enhance an item? Is it possible the enchant weapons or armour? (Say, make a normal weapon also add fire damage for example)

Yeah, I always aim to take down enemy archers and mages from a distance before they notice us, difficult since it's a distance shot, but if you do some damage, it can make it a bit easier... bandits are a pain period tho', lol. I just finished one mission where you had to take out a Mage mini-boss, man that was a real pain in the ass!

Oh I also found what I think is a Golem, but I've absolutely no idea how to beat it, every time I've tried the groups gotten obliterated very quickly, so I steer clear of the area, at least for now, 'til I figure out what I need to do.

just look around for chests, if you dont get it, go back a few days later or reload a save try to save often, especially while traveling , chests spawn different items each time , i'll look through my guide though to try to find it,

edit :

it says it can be found at the blighted manse first level underground

Summer B
30-05-12, 10:38
^ Blighted Manse? The only entrance I've found to that, so far, is way north of where you do the Conspirators quest, lol. Granted I didn't actually go in that entrance 'cause there was one of those three-headed things guarding it, so I guess it might be the same place.

BTW, do you think changing my class from Strider to Ranger would get me better equipment etc? I kinda like using dual weapons tho', lol. (I have finally started finding better stuff tho' - plus I located another shop in the city, by the forger, I just went back there to see what had spawned and the woman had opened a store).

I got the game two days ago,and i'm still in the first two areas (between the fishing village and the camp). There's so much to do in this game, even in that relatively tiny section of the map that it's a bit overwhelming but i'm taking my time with it.

I love the exploration, combat feels great (with some really good animations),classes and skills systems offer lots of variety for strategic gameplay, the pawn system can be very addictive, and the overall atmosphere and art direction is top notch.I'm seeing investing many hours with it.

I'll post some screenshots once i get some better looking armor.:p

Well, as I've played Skyrim, Dragon Age and Dragons Dogma - I can honestly say I like all three enough to have no real preference. In terms of enemy difficulty (at least at a low level), I'd say DD is top of the list. In terms of character development, as in freedom to use level-up points, I'd say Skyrim/ES is top of the list. In terms of 'world' size/scope, I'd again put Skyrim top of the list. Story, that would probably go to DA. Graphics, a very close tie between Skyrim and DD, but DD is just on top for me...

Ok i'm in prison right now (don't know why really) and i don't have the money to bribe the guard...what do i do?

Well, I've been everywhere on the map now, and I gotta say I thought it'd be bigger, I thought there'd be a whole section in the top right where that ruin is, but it turned out to just be a long path... Seems the only reason the map seems so big is that you have to travel eveywhere since there's no 'fast travel' option - except for the ferrystones of course.

Went all the way to the Blue Tower, only to find I could only go so far before fnding two locked doors, so had to leave... and I can't get in to the Duke's Manse, at least not yet, I guess I'll be given access to that at some point. Still can't find the Snakeskin Purse, but if it's in the Manse, that problem will resolve itself soon enough. The only other quest I'm having problems with is the Sour Ambrosial Meat, can't figure how to get that for the life of me... I had the chance during a 'resupply' mission, but handed it over in case not doing so would fail that quest.

So, onwards to the Chamberlain....

Hey, Ozzman, congrats on beating the game... question, do you actually fight the dragon at the end, or is it some kind of bizarre copout? (Don't say if it'll spoil it for everyone)

OK, I beat the game (or I think I did), so I should be happy, right, well I'm not, I'm pissed off.

After I beat the final boss I assumed I'd be able to just carry on and explore the world taking on random baddies while waiting for DLC to come out.. but, nooo, I wake up in to some nighmare world where everything is a bazillion times harder to kill, and I'm frankly at a complete loss as to what I'm supposed to do now... as I'm assuming what I thought was the end actually wasn't.

This has pretty much ruined the bloody game for me now... :(

<--- Indeed Jensen, indeed!

Ah, Mod Edit: Censor Circumvention Removed! it, after another 30 minutes of trying to carry on playing I'm giving up... it's gone from being a beautiful game to one that's downright ugly, with enemies that are near impossible to beat, even after all the hard work... Plus, to my mind, there's no real closure... The replay value for me has plummeted through the floor as well... Thanks for ruining it Capcom.

Summer B

No idea, but if it has, then it means I haven't finished the game and it, in effect, has a fake ending before the real one.... and whole game section that's way harder than the earlier section.

Edit: Yeah, I've just done a bit of googling trying to find answers and the dragon is a pre-ending ending, and you have to do a typical 'japanese' weird magic-like section to get to the actual ending and NG+... so I guess I'll never be properly finishing it.

Also read you can romance some NPCs, weird, I saw absolutely no hint of that during the game, lol.

Yeah, I fought my way back to Gran Soren, which is why I know how much harder the enemies are, and why I got so got cheesed off. I don't remember seeing a golem tho'... but the journey was made in a bit of a red mist of anger, lol. I ran like hell when I saw the Wyvern, lol. ^ The Dukes wife was in Cassardis? Guess I should've looked around before heading to Gran Soren, lol, I went straight there cause it said to, to see the Duke... one more example of how confusing it is after the non-ending.

^ Where've you got to?

Even though I beat the final boss, there were one or two things I didn't finish. I didn't get in to the Duke's Manse, so I couldn't finish the "Snakeskin Purse" quest, I have no idea how to get in there. Plus there's a locked building/area by the Church in Cassardis I haven't figured out how to get in to.

I started a new game today, and I think this time I'll take the other option at the end when the dragon gives you a choice... since I killed the dragon first time, those who've been there know what the option is, I just wanna see what happens... if it's different or one of those ME3 type things where they say it's different but it's not.

Can you just get them forged?

Anyway, I've collected 10 of them from the Everfall from various levels, but I'm having problems landing on the platform I want, I usually miss and land on one further down... if you can call face-planting a landing. I can't even remember the rooms I've done before.

Whoever thought of that section of the game needs to be... well, have something unpleasant done to them, 'cause it sucks. I mean I can't beat the huge snake-thing for the life of me.

PS: Why would going offline make it any easier?

Uh... I think my game broke right at the end...

I collected all the Wakestones, defeated the Senechal, sat on the 'throne'... then got transported back down... but I'm see-thru and can't interact with anything or anyone, can't access my inventory, basicly can't do a sodding thing!?

WTF, I don't get it... where's the 'ending' so I can get the NG+????

Edit: Never mind, I figured out what I had to do... at least what I did got me a proper ending and to the NG+ thing.

So YAY! Finally finished the first playthrough... just starting a second to see what I get to keep, lol. (And what, if anything, is different)

Well, it sounds like you're trying to take on the UR Dragon and, maybe, the four-headed snake... you don't actually need to, as you can collect Wakestones and Wakestone Shards (get three shards for one stone), you find the shards frequently I found, so I mangaged to get 20 without having to take on the really hard enemies. ;)

Oh, yeah, that thing was a right pain in the ass. Let your crew get close up and personal with it and try to land power shots from your bow in to its main eye, does some real damage, but you need patience and timing.

Summer B
05-06-12, 20:40
^ Yeah, the Saurians are a pain if you're not using someone with a sword to hack the tails off, you have to rely on your crew - or Mage to add the right power to the weapons.

The Hydra is the four-headed snake, right? I avoided THAT room like the plague... it's little brother at the beginning of the game was bad enough, lol.

^ any tips for farming wakestones , i'm going to buy alot of ferrystones , find easy room and farm it every few days

Summer B
05-06-12, 22:15
^ Not really, they're not that easy to find until after you kill the dragon and jump in to the pit, that's the only place there's loads on them floating around, that I know of.

There is a jewel, of which the name escapes me, that shows the location of wakestones (or shards, I forget which), but I have no idea if they respawn like everything else, I've never gone back to find out.

I remember the location of three off the top of my head though - one is by the man drawn on the hillside, another is on the castle ruins held bu bandits near the entrance to Witchwood, and the third I remember is in a bunch of underground rooms on the final path going to Bluetower.

Hope that helps...

Anyway, my character just got to level 60... and for the record, there are very slight differences in the NG+ quests.. eg. in the first it said to kill 3 golems for one quest, this time it says 3 griffins, unless it's just something I missed first time round. I'm sure some bits of dialogue are different too, but that might be my imagination. FYI - you start at the level you finished at, plus you seem to keep everything you had in your inventory/storage at the end of the game... so my suggestion to people still on their first playthrough....HOARD LIKE MAD!!

Summer B
05-06-12, 22:36
^ My advice about the chambers - avoid the rooms with the huge snake, dragon and room of Fate (2 Chimeras, a pack of Hellhound AND a wraith thing - that room was a NIGHTMARE!) - if everything reapawns, keep going back to one of the "easier" rooms over and over, lol. Hell, I would've if I'd known the stuff respawns, 'cause during the time I did it, nothing respawned.

You're not bad, that dragon is very hard to beat. My advice would be to keep your distance as much as you can and use a bow, or the ballista's scattered around the edge - ALWAYS aim for the heart and let your warriors get up close and personal with it. You WILL need to revive your pawns, so keep that in mind, once they go down, don't wait too long or you'll lose them. Another important thing, occassionally leg it to the small tower ruin for a breather to let your adrenaline calm down, I found that it helps... Oh, and BTW, don't stay on each ballista for too long, or the dragon will destroy it.

Fact: bandits are very annoying.:pi:

Just before they die some of them start running away like cowards only to return later and stab you in the back.
The problem is that by chasing these assholes away from the main combat area i leave my pawns open to the attacks of the rest of the bandits (i have two mages, one strider and my character's class is fighter).
I;m wondering if it would be better instead of having two mages (one is my main pawn) to recruit another fighter/warrior to act as "tank" for these kind of battles and protect the rest while i happen to chase someone away from battle.

Do you think that a team of two fighters/warriors,one mage and one strider would be efficient?

found it in the everfall, Hydra room i think,
the normal Hydra is easier with fire attack, i killed with my bow , hes part of the "A challenge " quest from cassardis post game,

as for bandits, my usual team is

Ranger [me]
Sorceror [ my pawn]
high level Mage
Strider or Ranger

i have permanent ice element on my daggers, sauriens , hellhounds and succubi are so easy

edit,
direwolf veil is found in the Chamber of Tragedy first floor

10 more wakestones left, i like the Chamber of Fate but only when its a Drake XD he drops 2

I have two mages but against formidable foes their healing spells are not enough. They use the healing items until their health bar goes only halfway full and then continue to fight with their HP halved.Which gets them killed very quickly.

And the chair system is very badly implemented.I have to make my pawn say things i don't want to hear just to unlock new orders that still might be not the ones i want to tell her...it's nerve breaking really. :/

Take a bunch of empty bottle to a Well Spring, or whatever they're called, and fill 'em up, the healing effect is shared amonst all the group.

Anyway, my team make up is usually:
Me and whatever class I'm playing at the time, Ranger this time.
One Mage (My pawn)
One Fighter
One Warrior

Seems to work a treat for me, as I have all bases covered.

Been playing Kingdoms Of Amalur for the past couple of days... Gave up the first time I played it... the graphics are a bit too 'cartoony' for me ('til I reminded myself Fable is the same and I love those), and I was confusing myself by having so many quests on the tree, and not knowing how to store items.

So anyway, started another game and it's going pretty well this time really... still a bit silly there's a limit on how much you can store, but I'll deal with it. Seems to be lasting forever though, lol, I still haven't finished everything in the first, forested, area you start in.

Anyway i'm really enjoying the game so far although it definitely has its irks.Hopefully they will improve the sequel.
